How to Install Mods in Scrap Mechanic Survival (Steam Workshop)

This tutorial shows you how to install mods in Scrap Mechanic Survival from the Steam Workshop. I also show how to manually install Scrap Mechanic mods, how to uninstall mods, how to backup your worlds, and even how to enable devmode.
Mods are awesome and can make Scrap Mechanic a lot more interesting. However, installing mods can be a bit overwhelming to beginners. I'll explain step by step how to install a mod from the Steam Workshop. As an example, I'll be installing the Backb0t Craftp4ck mod: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
After that, I will show you how to manually install Scrap Mechanic mods. Sometimes mods require you to do a little more than just copy-pasting files. As an example, I will change line 100 from 'if g_survivalDev then' to 'if true then', which is how to enable devmode in Scrap Mechanic. The file can be found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Scrap Mechanic\Survival\Scripts\game\SurvivalGame.lua

Next, I show how to uninstall Scrap Mechanic mods. Go to your Steam library and right-click on Scrap Mechanic. Select 'Properties', then 'local files', and click 'verify integrity of game files'. Once the process is done, all game files will be restored to the original game files.
Lastly, I show how to backup your worlds. Press the Windows key on your keyboard and R. This should open a run command window. Type in '%appdata%' and press Enter. Navigate to the 'Axolot Games' folder, then 'Scrap Mechanic', and 'User'. Now you need to select the folder with your user id, which usually is the only folder.
If you open the 'Save' folder, you will find all of your creative world save files. The survival worlds are located in the 'Survival' folder. Copy the worlds you want to backup and save them in a backup folder or wherever you like.

For me, steam insists on finding all of the files that have been replaced and re-downloading them, overwriting the mod and making it unusable. :(

I subscribed to The Modpack by Durf. When I went into folder, there was no zip. There was a Cache folder, a Description notepad file, a text document called Info and a PNG called preview.

Creative mods install automatically. You then select them in the world menu.

How high of a chance is it that your game is going to crash when you install manual mods like the one as shown? And if it does crash do you have to restart?

Crashes aren't frequent. Mostly some stuff breaks. But yeah, the more stuff you have in the game, the easier it is to crash. However, from my experience I noticed no difference between vanila and mods.

You would replace the broken world with the backup, so if you try to load that world again, you'll load a working version.

now i came back for this tutorial because of that modpack i found working guide but it really broke the game glad i didnt played my main survival world anyway it disabled hp,water and hunger hud and bots when they died the got revived, animation stayed but tvhey were invincible and freezed an water like ocean didnt work like it was not even there i was able to see it but i was not swimming

If you want to play multiplayer, you just need to make sure that you and your friends have the SAME files(same mods).

Which mod did you use? Is the mod compatible with the last game version? Try looking at the description of the mod, maybe you need to do some extra steps. And you are using only one mod, are you?

Yes, creative mods work this way, but not survival mods. Every mod that needs to replace files needs to be installed this way.

Make sure that the files have been downloaded. Sometimes downloads get scheduled for later and won't start immediately.

exactly, you can't have two mods that need to replace the SAME file. If you find two mods that replace different files, they will work together.

If you verify files, it will 'reset' all files except save files. This has worked for me every time, but it can happen that some files won't get reset or removed, and you have to reinstall the game.
