My mother had a Generac installed but there was a part missing that regulated the gas flow. It arrived three months later at her home. She called the company and the installer plus a local contractor who connected it to the gas line. No one showed to connect the part. She continued calling for THREE YEARS before the installer returned. The local contractor refused to connect it saying basically that he was done with it. The product is excellent but the safety for three years was questionable. My father died during that time and left her to deal with it. She is now 86 years old. Decide for yourself if it's worth it to you.

That's not unusual for a manufacturer. I would guess that most of them build products to order rather than having a lot of money tied up in warehouse items, especially on things that don't sell quickly. We sold most of our agricultural products well before we harvested and our canned/frozen products a year in advance. We had to project sales, prepare land, plant, grow, harvest, and ship. We sure couldn't just plant a lot and hope it sold. A manufacturer is not a retail store and customers need to understand. The problem here is the deceitfulness or lack of good communication. If I'm told it will take 3 months then I can make my purchasing decision. If I'm told 2 weeks, I expect it in 2 weeks.

I just go used DR 18 HP vanguard wood chipper $500 if I can fish the job at home then was worth it. I believe I need new blade that's where fun begins. Get ready to hold on phone 30 min. To ask about a part order . Then rep. Transfer you to trouble shooting another 30min. Wait I gave up .I went on FB Messenger. And actually got some help response there ,given email got schematic. I don't know company and there products well enough to trash them yet like many remember them since young. I hope they get Management and marketing and quality control and supply etc. and brain storm thanks for share

Have a couple DR products (lawn vac and brush mower) that I bought used on FB Marketplace and absolutely love them. Saved a TON of money, got pre-pandemic assembly, and picked up the same day I found it. Seems like most things these days aren't built like they used to be and company's are more than struggling.

I agree 100% - We have a few DR items, and they are a nightmare to get parts for. Have a chipper that needs a single part that is "discontinued" and will cost over $700 for a single part. I didn't know that Generac was owned by them but I've had issues with the O2 sensor that needs to be recalled but they won't do it. I've got a video on that if anyone needs help fixing the issue.

Hi I just bought a DR 18 HP vanguard wood chipper. Used I believe 2008' on back of catalog book , I just figured out blade part number. DR is $160 Amazon $64

I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I have two of their field and brush mowers with accessories (chipper, snow blade, generator), the tow-behind string trimmer, and the leaf vac. I love them all. When I need parts they ship promptly and accurately. They are solid machines and have given me very few problems. On the other hand, I was never able to get a machine from Cyclone Rake. They kept asking me for pictures of my ExMark mower and asking for all kinds of measurements and despite going back and forth with them for about two weeks, they stopped calling me. They could never guarantee that the machine's adapter would work with my ExMark, which is a pretty common mower.

Been looking at garden tillers and most comments was that they delivered them on a tractor and trailer the customers has no way to lift them off. The drivers that deliver it told the customers it be $100-150 dollars for them to lower the tailgate left. It was different companies that delivered the tillers. The company didn’t tell them anything about the cost of using the tailgate at the time of purchase so they only found out about it when it arrived. Some said they paid and other said send it back and cancel the order

Good comment. That happens all the time. Are companies trying to lose business?!? I had my agrifab delivered and Home Depot had the lift gate service in the checkout so luckily I knew about it ahead of time.

I purchased an Agrafab unit like yours six years ago and I use it every spring to clean up leaf’s on 3-1/2 acres. I have dozens of mature oaks, hickory and sweat gum trees. My AgraFab works great. The only problem is the hose which cracks due to turning the mower to make a mother pass. I wish I had bought a Cyclone type since does not have the same hose problem. However the Cyclone is substantially more in price so I use lots of Gorilla Tape on the hose.

I've worked for a nationwide farm and ranch store for over a decade. A few years ago we carried DR wheeled string trimmers, in addition to Cub Cadet. Like you, I was excited as I thought DR was great quality. Unfortunately, almost every one we sold came back. DR, like many companies, is not what it used to be. 😔

Used to have a schwiffer brush hog and sold it with a property. Bought a DR power because it looked the same. Man was I wrong has never worked properly. Called and described my problem they asked the model number and sent completely the wrong parts and then argued that it was my fault. No refund just had to buy again but gave up completely on the brush hog as It didn’t even work after that.

Worked in the China supply chain quality for 10 years, recently retired. China Supply Chain risks exist the same as they do here in for US suppliers, but add 8-12 weeks. Due diligence by the company's management is needed to investigate the supply chain risks and to have a contingency plan for supply interruptions, up to and including carrying more inventory (which is expensive) and back-up suppliers (dual sourcing). What happens too often is supply chain safeguards are forgotten about until it is too late. In the automotive industry, your contingency plan is audited and exercised by the automotive companies regularly. In standard equipment and retail, most likely it is not. Sorry for your experience with DR, but offshore Low Cost Country outsourcing is not going to change. Americans buy cheap and demand low cost above all else. In this case, this is solidly on DR's management. Supply Quality (product meets standards on time) is the first activity to get cut when times get tough. There are good quality companies in China, seen them personally, but poorly managed US companies go to China to save money, and go with cheapest China suppliers..... at their peril. Xie Xie.

I got an older one off FB, works fine. My mower is junk. Gotta be a line at which they fell to sh........ My buddy has an older mower and he says it is bulletproof. Like the OP said-I've been seeing the commercials since I was a kid. I've maybe put 10hrs on mine and have spent days trying to fix it myself after they sent me the warranty parts. Why didn't they just pay for a shop to fix it for me. Two seperate issues, but I've spent 5x as long working on it myself. I'm about to take the machine to Burlington and park it up someone's a$$.
