Dr. Sucheta Pyakuryal is the Director of the Center for Governance at the Institute of Integrated Development Studies (IIDS), a South Asian policy think tank based in Kathmandu.
She is also a visiting faculty member for the Master's program in Public Policy and Management (MPPM) at Kathmandu University School of Management. In addition, she teaches courses on Gender and Politics/Policymaking for the Master's and PhD programs at Tribhuvan University’s Department of Gender Studies. Since October 2020, she has been serving as one of the five jury members for the Integrity Icon of the Accountability Lab, Nepal Chapter.
Before joining IIDS, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of North Florida. Dr. Pyakuryal holds Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Akron, US. Her areas of expertise include Political Theory, Comparative Administration, Democracy, and Good Governance.
An alumna of the Regional Center for Strategic Studies of South Asia, her work focuses on the study of democratic development and good governance in the region. She has several publications on bureaucracy, public sector ethics, knowledge management, and aid politics.

Loved listening you mind Dr. Sucheta. - Loved the reality you shared about difference between politics and governance. The day you are elected and take the seat, you are now in governance, that is why it is called government. - Politics is always grey and art but governance is pure science, management science. - When out of the pond, every party acted they revolutionist to clean the dirty pond, once they are in, the pond environment has engolfed them in Nepal. Now - Thanks for sharing about BP vs SP and insecurity that leaders carry and the consequence it has for nation. So it simple feels, we never had a highly capable leader, so their is culture of politiking Organization and democracy goes opposite. Group thinking is enemy of rational thinking.
