I had a mentor growing up that took several black boys from the hood under his wing. He used to take us camping, fishing, taught us to fix things and more. Oftentimes using his own money or organizing fundraisers. He kept at least 20 boys from south central LA from going down the wrong path. Although he was respected by the community, many of the single mothers of the boys still had a pookie and ray ray boyfriend around. I never understood as a kid, how these mothers wanted their sons with the mentor but when the sons get home, mom got a pookie at the house. It sent the wrong message to the boys and it diminished the overall impact of the mentor. The only answer is to stop procreating with Pookie. That's it that's all. Because these bw will take advantage of the good bm in NJ who are willing to take two fatherless boys under his wing. It'll be a free baby sitter while she with Pookie.

Dr Umar is starting to sound like a super-simpanzie!!! I say fck women's respect, it doesn't exist, you will not be appreciated by her or her children, don't take care of any man's kids, let her go and get child support from the father, the system is set up for her to do so, no excuses...

It a Slaves mentality they want us to keep. Black men are expected to get what is leftover. Black men are only ones expected to call women queen when they are not. This is coming from a woman. Men should not be responsible for kids that are not theirs. Dating a single mother is pretty much a liability for the most part. Don't get me wrong I heard stories where children love their stepdad more than their real father. But for the most part it is a thankless and unappreciative job, where they have one more mouth to feed, the child would be the first priority (that is great and all but they shouldn't be dating if they want to put their child first), you can't discipline the child when they act out and when you do, you'll hear the words you're not my dad, also there are also a lot of scenarios when the single mother puts her dating life before her child/children (getting someone to constantly babysit them while they're living it up), the single mother ends up bitter towards the BD or they are in a on-and-off relationship with their BD and they end up cheating on you with them. Most men do not want to be in a relationship with a single mom because of those reasons and many more reasons. For the most part they do not benefit men and they have every right to decide not to date you because you have kids. If a woman has standards, then a guy is allowed to have standards as well.
@nonapplicable3055

Thank you for keeping it all the way real. It's one thing if he asked to raise money for an existing foundation, but he expects us to take time out. I'm 29, I work 60+ hours a week. I don't have kids of my own yet, because Im trying to build the largest nest egg I can and build myself up to where I can choose to commit from a place of abundance. I'm planning my future, but I'm supposed to just forget all of that and settle when I'm nearing the finish line? I don't get his line of thinking.
@Faithandseekerofchrist
@Faithandseekerofchrist Жыл бұрын
@@nonapplicable3055 you are really not missing out with these single mothers. All these feminists they are Queens and that they are all 10's. But if that was the case that would mean all women are average, they wouldn't be Reckless and they would all be in relationships and marriages. Most cases it is the women who initiate divorces and then the guy not only loses a lot of what he works for but he also loses his children. Once you have children, your value in the dating Market decreases and especially when you're 30 and over. I'm not saying that it's going to be completely impossible for them to date but it's not going to be like what it once was when they were young and before they had kids. Maybe a lot of times a guy would pump and dump them like a gas station like many men before him did but to marry her, most guys just wouldn't do it. I wish I could say that dating, let alone marrying a single mom has a happy ending like in rare cases it does but the majority of the time it's more of a liability.

The problem is that we continue to have race hustlers like Steve Harvey, Dr. Umar Johnson, Derrick Jaxn, Tyler Perry, and others like them pandering to us black women by telling us what we want to hear instead of telling us what we need to hear. Black men like Kevin Samuels are entitled to tell us black women what we need to hear just as much as Shahrazad Ali have been telling us black women what we need to hear for the past 30+ years, because we both, black men & black women need each other to build and maintain a strong black family to where we can maintain a strong black community.

Dr. Umar got it messed up. As a man you shouldn't be aiming for the respect of Black women as a whole. You need the respect of the woman you are committed to and vice versa. That's it. My wife and I share the same values. So we can work together. Black men as a whole can't pick up the baton on fatherless Black boys because there's often a lack of shared values between certain men and women. As someone who has worked with youth my entire life I know. You can't have much impact on a child when their parent's values are diametrically opposed to yours. I know. I've tried. All it leads to is confusion and arguments with the child's parent.

The primary responsibility for that childs mentoring comes from his or her parents and whatever community they put around their child.

Choosing to help raise someone else's kids is a choice, not an obligation. And this is coming from a guy who has chosen to be a dad to two kids who aren't my own and whose mothers I am not in relationships with. If a guy isn't built that way, there's no benefits for him to raise someone else's kids if he's not gonna reap the benefits of a relationship with their mothers. Hell, at a minimum, sex. He's using his time, energy, and resources on someone else's kids when he has no kids of his own or when he has a family of his own he is there for. If the kid is a friend of his kids, that is a different story, because you want to make sure your kids are friends with the right kinda people. But otherwise, he's gotta be built a certain way to be a big brother or mentor or godfather or even a stepfather.

Blackness and black culture will follow wherever prominent black men go outside of the states. The fact of the matter is no one needs to save these black women. We simply will wait for their time to pass and give the next generation of women a chance to learn from their mistakes. If the women don't change, your point is moot. The best men of any dying culture will simply migrate for a better chance at life.

@@nonapplicable3055I agree with you. I told myself years ago that if I ever get married it would be in the mother continent. I just don’t agree with BM saying that the answer is to automatically date outside of your race and not care about the black community of any sort when the true issue is within the western world

How much longer do the good and responsible men have to be lambasted with this "step up" mentality? No one should have to take on responsibilities that they don't create or they don't want. If anything it's the safety nets that encourage bad behavior. If we want things to change then people need to feel some consequences for their actions

I would never be a step-dad, never no way. I have 5 kids, I would never be cooperative with no woman that does not bear or birth my biological seed! I've been married for 28 years, the young boys and girls that have been born out of wedlock it's their biological father's responsibilities to take care of them. It's my responsibility as a father to take care of my biological children. I will never take care of a Another's Man's biological children especially when you have children of your own! When a woman has children when you met her, it is the man's responsibilities that she had children with to take care of the children he had with her! As a true and devoted father you must always think about your children first! You should never put another man kids first, and you should never put another man's kid on same level as your children. Your biological children must come first overall... Dr. Umar is a simp and a sucker for trying to make men be tricks for the toxic BW!

He said he’s “sick and tired of black men watching black women struggle with our children.” Respectfully, where are those children’s fathers for 1 ? Nobody is responsible for children who aren’t theirs. Why be disciplined with your seed and wait for a suitable partner and marriage just to turn around to have to be responsible for taking care of children who are not yours. I’m sorry, but I have to put the accountability on us for choosing to carry for those who aren’t our husbands. Sorry Dr. Umar you’re wrong with this one!

Way too many black women don’t want to follow in a traditional relationship. These type women don’t want marriage and believe that they can be both mother and father. When it works out for them they’re a genius, but when they sons turn out to be bums then it’s the fathers fault. These women In enough cases want to replace us as men.

*Men, in 2023 we are not wasting our time or money cleaning up anyone's mess or taking on other people's burdens. If no one ever told you before let me be the first to tell you, YOU DESERVE BETTER. Hold the line and don't let anyone shame you into accepting less. Only look out for what's best for you and always put yourself first. Other people and the consequences of their choices are not your responsibility.*

This is part of the problem in the Black community, a complete and utter lack of accountability. Black men are starting to realize the extreme difficulty and problems associated with dealing with single mothers and deciding that they would rather not go through it. It's not another man's responsibility nor obligation to step in to something like that. If these woman stopped acting so entitled and actually appreciated a man settling for them and making such a sacrifice, they might get more traction, but let's stop attempting to shame these men for their preferences.
