There is NO excuse to speak against the Word and Name of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you Dr. White for this timely exhortation to a church so long self-absorbed in its own will worship, which can be said to be, the fruit of our culture today.

The world is quickly becoming a hostile place for a true Christian. You need not suffer persecution as long as you compromise your message and celebrate sin along with the ungodly. Those that choose to take up their cross and follow Jesus, in word and deed, must be prepared to be nailed to it at any time. The world that is quickly shaping itself around us will demand a response to a very difficult question when they notice you are not celebrating along with the rest. When the knife is put to your neck and you are asked who you serve, what will be your response? If you give the wrong answer you will live. Those that profess Jesus is Lord will have their head sawed from their body and they will die. Those that live will die, those that die will live.

Thank you Dr. White for saying what needs to be said. Your conviction combined with your knowledge are a tool that God has no problem using as seen in this video. I am humbled yet hopeful even though the message is dire. Thank you.

I think all of this is true. I think the failure started however in the church when the gospel was lost in moralism, apologetics, and politics. Nothing wrong with being moral, having sharp apologetics or even fighting moral decay and injustice politically but that unfortunately drowned out the most important cornerstone of the church: Jesus. I love reformed theology but I think the irony of sin has unfortunately turned reformed baptists ironically into the most self righteous sect of our faith. We look most like the pharisees. I'm saying this as a reformed baptist myself and who's constant sin is self righteousness and pharisaicalism. Which is the tragedy of the corrupting power of sin. It's able to take the most grace filled, loving-sinners-radically theology and turn it into its exact opposite: High and mighty judgmental moralism. We are seeing the fruit of our labor I think. With strugglers of LGBT we failed to truly love them well and as a result Satan gave them a church. It's loving and accepting and gracious as the church was supposed to be but it is centered on a lie. It's an AA meeting for Alcoholics who embrace the alcohol; which is utterly deadly. I think what Jesus is doing is taking away our political and cultural power to humble us and bring us to repentance. He's sifting us like wheat, to tear out all of our pride and return us to our first love. Revival begins with repentance in the church. We can't be afraid of or resentful of our culture around us. That happened on our watch. We as the church are called to be the salt and light of the world around us. If this is where our culture has gone, that's on us. I honestly think Jesus will hold us responsible for this resulting culture. Yes, we need to correct heresy, yes we need to be able to stand up for the unborn, against the destruction of the family and the profaning of marriage, with boldness, but we need to also remember love and gentleness and grace. Remember that we are just as sinful as our culture. The only difference is we've been saved. Remember that Jesus never spoke against or lashed out while he gave up his life. He was misrepresented, mocked, horrifically abused, shamed and brutally murdered in public due to political intrigue. Yet Jesus didn't speak up, lash out, call down fire, legions of angels but rather spoke nothing but grace and forgiveness the whole time. Using our most hellish sin to actually be our salvation. Our job is to love and speak truth to our culture with grace. I've honestly never won a single convert with apologetics, political stands or trying to moralize my non-christian friends. It's actually done the opposite effect. I've gotten people to be curious though when i've simply loved and listened to my non-christian friends. Totally think the phrase: "Preach the gospel and if necessary use words" is a cop out for cowardice but at the same time, I think there is some truth to that in the sense that sometimes we need to love our neighbors and live holy lives before we can speak. I get that much of that has been our lives of trying to be good people to earn the right to speak and is also fruitless by itself. I haven't figured out the balance yet but I think theres something about both that is how we are to speak the truth in love. Seeing our unbelieving neighbors, not as enemies nor as projects that WE have to save, but as people that need Jesus just as you and I do. Be gracious and listen to them, having fun, helping their practical needs, laughing and crying with them. Listen to their pain and anger without trying to correct it immediately. Working the jobs we've been gifted and/or called to do well with dignity and humility. Even if we really suck at it, that they can't ding us for trying our best and still being decent people. But then also boldly preaching the gospel and discussing hard issues with openness, without judgement but also courage and without compromise. Again i've yet to master any of this but I think that-that's the right direction. I mourn the continual destruction of our culture but at the same time I am excited because the church is alway purified in hostile cultures and huge revivals tend to happen out of these wicked times. So i'm both grieved and yet hopeful for the future, even if we never see revival we know that in the end Jesus win's. That always gives me hope and comfort. I love you brother's and sisters, pray for me as I pray for you. From your brother in Christ in Southern California.

+MirkAssassin " I think the failure started however in the church when the gospel was lost in moralism, apologetics, and politics. " Apologetics is commanded by Scripture, so I don't know what you even mean by your statement.

+MirkAssassin Hello! What Yesica quoted along with your next statement posted do not coincide and should probably be edited for clarity. Just read what you said in both sentences and you'll find that calling something a failure and then saying there's nothing wrong with the failing church due to such things does not convey a clear statement. I suggest that because I know you mean something very different then what your message suggests and don't want anyone coming at you online to troll you over the choice of words used.

My point is those good things become wrong when they drowned out the ultimate thing: Jesus. Idolatry.

MirkAssassin thanks for the response. I hope you can see why it is still a confusing statement as you've related those things to idolatry while saying they're ok. Presumably in moderation?

Good point: The English "Jehovah" is a terrible translation of YHVH into English. Not-so-good point: Circumlocution of the divine name is not a late Jewish convention as he seems to allude. In fact, Matthew's gospel uniquely uses "Kingdom of Heaven" itself as a circumlocution. The practice was already well established in the 2nd Temple period when the gospels were produced.

He is referencing the actual Greek pronunciation of the word. Apologist is an English word derived from the Greek word. No inconsistency.

+Jason Gavris 'Thank goodness' is a common expression used to denote a sense of relief. The fact that people are good and that good exists doesn't at all imply that there has to be an absolute source of good.
