Just a tip pete before tenioning up the caliper mount bolts pump the brakes up and once u get the pedal or the lever back hold it on then tenion up the mounting bolts while holding the brake on this centralizes the pads and makes it more free running

Good video. A couple of things I also do to help. If you are replacing the fluid. Get a syringe and suck out the old fluid in the resevoir. Makes it easier when replacing with new fluid later. When you press in the piston[s] it will fill up again and possibly stop any spillage. Before pushing piston[s] in you should clean the dirt etc off them so it doesn't cause possible damage to the seals. You can also check for any pitting that could cause a tear in the seal.

Sorry to be negative but... The calliper exposed part of the pistons should have been cleaned prior to pushing them back into the calliper to prevent dirt from being forced into the piston bores. Never use anti-seize on brake parts. It only attracts dirt and there is a risk of contaminating the friction material. The guide pins should have been lubricated with clear silicone or synthetic grease (not anti-seize). The master cylinder was overfilled. The proper level is to the halfway point on the glass as opposed to the top of the two small lugs inside the reservoir. There is a mark on the outside of the master cylinder by the glass. There is no need to use locktite on the calliper bolts if they are torqued properly (not Hal's "feel"). The locktite will make future disassembly more difficult. The air bubbles observed in the vacuum line are from air leaking around the bleeder screw threads - no harm and expected. Cheers - Dave

how many miles did you get out of the pads you replaced?
@FULLPELTAdventures
@FULLPELTAdventures 3 ай бұрын
Hi jon, I can't remember the millage, and the Pads were changed in preparation for a big upcoming ride at the time. From memory they didn't need replacing. For piece of mind, and also to do an instructional video, I changed them. Just keep an eye on your brake pads as part of your maintenance routine. Every one will be different depending on how hard you are on the brakes and the environment your riding in. Regards FPPete.

Shouldn't you change your gloves (or at least wipe them) so you don't get the lube on the brake pads? 🤔
