Good work Pete and Hal fantastic to do some maintenance. Often it is as just as enjoyable to be working the bike as riding. The whole experience of owning motorcycles is gold. Maintenance, riding and meeting and mixing with like minded people.

I use the blue Bendix grease as its made for brake cailpers and last ages, doesnt dry out and its not affected by heat.

Great tips I love the use of never seize on the pins I do the same, I bought an old XR250 as a spare bike for friends and the pins in the calliper had never been out at a guess. After hours of heating and stripping out the heads of pins with an impact driver I finally got them out and brazed a new screw head in the end for future pad changes. Things you do in the bush when parts are far away!

When servicing bikes for off road purposes ... lubrication must be used sparingly where open to conditions ...especially around brakes ... in cases such as the exposed pin that secures brake pads in place & allows pads to move in the calipers is a no no ... any grease/lube will naturally attract dirt & dust & as such will in turn create an abrasive compound paste effect that will dramatically increase wear on moving parts & will restrict free movement of moving parts ... areas as illustrated @ 3:30 is not recommended to lube as it's design is to allow for adjustment of chain tension/wheel position & once set does not move ... best to leave dry on these areas so an accumulation is not created & allows dirt & dust to fall away freely ... also refrain from using pressure cleaners to wash critical areas ... such as chains/wheel bearings/steer head bearings/electrical components etc ... Cheers

@@FULLPELTAdventures just finished the rear brakes shoe install. Watched other vids first but was not impressed with a too casual attitude… Hal covered so much more and actually helped me understand why I had such trouble getting the rear wheel back in with new cush rubbers after I replaced the bearings. The caliper was too far up the sliding channel and it just.Would.Not. Go! After watching your vid everything went back together like it had anti-seize on it… which it did ;^ ) Gonna bleed the rears and take her for a test ride. So thanks very much for Hals thoroughness and your excellent camera work and narration. I’m near Atlanta Ga USA, and am going to link your vid to a DR Facebook group I’m in. After the test ride 🤩… thanks again.

Thanks for your comment Dave. I have not had any problems with the anti-sieze, and I trust Hal's work. I have since purchased some silicone ceramic extreme brake parts lubricant by Permatex, and will try it next time. Kind Regards FPPete.
