Due to a mix of allergies and anxiety I started having difficulty swallowing and becoming overly conscious of it. It didn’t feel like food was getting stuck, but rather that the physical moving of my tongue was just tight and not smooth. Like i forgot how to do it. After just one session of this video I felt immediately relief and my overall facial tension feels significantly lower. Gonna keep doing these until the tension goes away. WOW!

I love your videos. They remind me of the painter, Bob Ross. You're probably too young to remember his "Happy Little Clouds" approach. He was really mellow and a great teacher. I have been working with these videos for about a week and definitely feel a big change occurring in my swallowing. It's "relearning" how to swallow. I can honestly say, I have never been so scared in my life, when my swallowing, intermittently, became totally shutdown to food, water and, even my saliva! 😮 I couldn't figure it out. Your videos clearly explain how to get your throat working properly again. All one has to do is listen, stay calm, do exactly what you say and, they will eventually feel the changes occur. Amazing. Thank you. I'm continuing to heal. 😊

Dr. Adam, My deepest thanks and gratitude to you for providing these videos for FREE! I am a professional singer and voice coach (and also a sufferer of sleep apnea), and just recently understood how much restriction and tension has been saddled in my throat and swallowing muscles. These exercises have provided immediate relief that I have not felt before now. I will be singing your praises, in more ways than one, to my students and colleagues. I'm about to perform my debut role with Portland Opera, so this came at the perfect time! Thank you, thank you , THANK YOU!

I tried out both your V1 and V2 for these exervises and I respect and appreciate how you emphasize feeling pain for the exercises and that it's "good pain". I talk about this a lot with my physiotherapist aswell. I'll be adding these videos to my daily swallowing routine. So glad I found them!

I'm confident that by following them regularly I will no doubt go back now to were I used to be, happy, stressless, radiant and connected to myself and the world. O.K. I'm getting back to you guys. The doctor's exercises worked for me! I think if I wanted a quicker fix, I would go to Dr. Fields and continue with these exercises. It wasn't convenient for me, however. For me, it was a mind-body connection issue. I'm older and noticed I wasn't swallowing much while I was focused on cooking & baking. My muscles were intermittently going lame. Another thing...I believe I had some inflammation down, past my huge tonsils, in the soft tissue area. The whole scenario made me highly anxiety ridden. When I sat down to eat, I was so concerned I couldn't swallow, my brow would start to sweat out of fear I may never be able to eat again! I really appreciated "clean" food, when it finally moved on down the esophagus. If you follow every, single, example exercise Dr. Fields and Courtney display, you will, most likely, be able to eat again in a couple weeks, or so. Thank God there are good people out there who are willing to help independent individuals. Blessings Dr. Fields! 🙌

Wouldn't it be amazing if they did a video on voice warm-ups voice health? I know of course most exercises there, but I just thought that with the warm & elegant way in which you share your knowledge, a lot of people, who are not voice professionals, would follow your advice. I fear that aspiration pneumonia is upcoming if I don't do something! The ENT's I consulted with didn't recommend any type of treatment or personal therapy. The only advise I got was chew food well, drink a lot of liquid with each bite, and eat my meals absorbed in no other external stimulus (watching TV and eating....ect) I'll whole heartedly perform exercises multiple times daily. It would be nice to feel like I'm not chocking after eating and running out of breath when swallowing liquid.

If I grab and move it in cracks and crunches and clicks and when looking up and stretching it it feels really tight on my adams apple. Should I just keep doing the throat and neck videos or is there anything else I can be doing? I am recently separated and not working so not talking as much. I am still managing social connections but wondered if not using my voice as much as a negative impact on my parasympthetic NS given that I think talking is obviously central to social connection. Should I try humming more? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Alex The separation is an extreme stress that can set the stage for myofascial trigger points. The key is relaxation and then the muscle work. Just throwing this out there: If is a marriage that could possibly have even a little hope, I recommend retrouvaille. It's all over the world, inexpensive and helps reclaim intimacy in a wonderful way. It is Catholic but not too Catholic-ish. More about couple-ness. I know this may not apply to you. Just putting it out there.

Hi ! i got an tmj and i just even tried this exercises. My Problem is, when i move my hyoid bone (the tongue bone on front neck) it makes click sounds evertime i move from side to side. Even if i lift up my head, watching in the heaven it clicks... ist there any way to fix this? :) BTW. i love your TMJ Videos!
@dradamfields3 жыл бұрын
I see that a lot in my chiropractic practice and do some of the massage and mobilization techniques in these videos and have had some good results. However, i can't comment on your exact situation as i have never evaluated your hyoid bone. Keep up the videos and if your aches go away and your hyoid still clicks a bit, you may consider that a victory.

When I do these like push my tongue up on the roof I can’t breath in our out or even swallow what is going on
@dradamfields3 жыл бұрын
Possibly, the back of your tongue is pushing up too much. Try focusing on the front and mid part of your tongue.

Can this be tried for brain hemorrhage person who lost his speach
@dradamfields5 ай бұрын
I think it could be a part of an overall rehab process but this is not a stand-alone treatment for that person. They will need a speech therapist to help reroute the parts of the brain that have been compromised. I would get on a plethora of brain supplements also.

You're too kind, Cynthia. Kourtney works with a dentist that I refer to. We collaborate on cases in my office helping people with sleep apnea. It's very exciting work. ...And, yes, she is quite easy on the eyes. : )

This irritates the muscles in the back of my neck and head. Why?
@dradamfields3 жыл бұрын
A lot of possibilities. Make sure your ears are over your shoulders when you are doing the exercises as poor posture could flare up your neck and occipital area. Also, have a attitude of relaxation as tension and overexertion can irritate trigger points. You may want to see a chiropractor.
