Today with the help of our Percheron Draft horse, Ken, my daughter and I are cultivating the garden! I also use our Percheron team of draft horses , Ken & Buck, to cultivate the field. We are cultivating to remove weeds from garden and fields!
Check out my daughter Abby's channel (A Drill & A Dream) ► / @adrilladream
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horses farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

What I wouldn't give to have a percheron to ride around on my small farm. I lived with my aunt and uncle for years and they owned a beautiful Percheron mare who I literally spent so much time with. At the age of four I would walk all under her, sit on the fence pet her and pull her ears. Never once did she get aggravated or offer to walk off. Sweet Maude as a 65 year old woman I will remember your kindness to a 4 year old and helped create a lifelong history of loving horses.

Ahhh Dearest ComancheHeart❣️I had my Great Grandfathers Belgian mare Dolly s my friend on the WVa farm growing up❣️She was just wonderful! Same kind, patient demeanor♥️and later I had a perch/quarter mix to really grow up with ! Yep… crawled under her cleaning her feet, rode her for hours, went in water with her, had a blast as a young girl having her as my bestest friend ever, ran home from school to see her everyday… bittersweet memories♥️🙋‍♀️‼️☺️🌺🌼🌸☮️🕉♥️

Hello from New Hampshire! Jim, so good to see you working those horses :-) If my brother-in-law ever caves and lets me have a horse in his fields, it will be a gelding Percheon /cross. Wonderful animals! We are a 350 acre family farm. Grass fed polled Hereford for breeding stock/commercial hay/ Logging/ firewood. We had to stop haying with this rain, but have cut over 2,000 bales so far. I will send photos of our farm to Abby's email. cheers! ~ Diane

You would have loved the "junkyard" at my great grandparents place. Every time he got a new piece of equipment the old was put aside "just in case". I know there were sveral rakes, mowers, plows, discs, etc. When we sold the place there were a number of ppl who came out and picked it over for needed parts or landscape items. Made some nice pocket change. Lol

all of the rocks in your garden reminded me of when I was a very young in the mid to late 50’s . My grand father whom was from Holland had rocks like that in his garden. This was in Stamford Conn. Well he and I sifted all of the soil in the garden to remove all the rocks. It made the garden nice but as you now you never get them all.

Good afternoon Jim,Brenda and Abbey,lt always looks so nice, calm and peaceful when you are all working away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and people shouting from a far.Wish it was like that for me.lts been incredibly hot the last few days so much so we have been watering and tending out allotment in the evenings.Which is so much better for the plant's as the ground stays wet all night so they get a good drink.Look like a third sowing may be on the cards as things have grown so quickly, all the first salad sowing have been eating and shared out to neighbours and the second lot are ready and been picked as we speak, but should last another tree or so weeks...well l hope so 😊Thankyou so very much for taking the time to video this, and it's good that everything seems to be going well for you all. Loving ❤ Abbey's videos, going to take some time l think, but lt makes great watching, thanks Abbey. All the very best dear friends ❤ Joyce 🌱🌱🌱

Check your $1.25 stores for orange or red surveyor's tape to mark your garden rows. It will make your rows easier to see and cultivate. I make pins out of aluminum wire with the orange tape on them to mark the ends of the rows. The pins don't get in the way like wooden stakes do altho I use both. I get the wire from scrap the power company has when repairing lines. I bend the ends of the pins into a loop to make setting and pulling them easier.

Hi Jim and Brenda, the corn cultivator that I use has removable disks that protect the corn plants and when they are big enough I can remove the disks to get some earth within the rows to bury the weed. Didn't you plant potatoes this year, I did not really recognize them? -Chris

We had a similar path and the landscapers used a type of stone glue and tamped the stones down after they watered the substance in. It has kept the stones in place and no weeds....no underlayment either. Not sure what the product was or safe near veggy gardens.
