Hello Lynn Allan, I have been watching training on Autocad for 12 years. I can see and hear that you are well trained Autocad user. It is an amazing software. The engineer, who developed autocad was John Walker. I am a advance Autocad engineer, since I studied this field for 30 years. Keep on educating and drafting schematics in autocad. As I will too.

Hi Lynn! Have read your articles in CAD magazines for years having been a AutoCAD user for over 25 years since V2.4 on an 8086 computer. Now that I'm no longer working for someone who pays the big price tag for AutoCAD, and needing an affordable CAD software package, I was happy to find DraftSight for my personal at home drafting needs. While the free version was great while it lasted, I did bite the wallet and paid the subscription fee a year ago and will be renewing soon or another year's subscription. I might add that the firm I was working for previously was also on Subscription with AutoDesk and I could never justify the fees they were paying per seat for my own use. AS the support guy I ordered and sent the payments for those subscriptions. As you stated the ACAD commands have aliases (AutoCAD term?) built in so If I type a command like explode it will it does, or purge it will. Other commands that I probably haven't even noticed just work. This is great for me since I date back so far in ACAD that I'm used to typing many commands as I learned CAD before on screen commands or pull down menus. WE did have a digitizer and puck back then but no mouse. I do miss is the ability to automate with Lisp as I have written many autolisp routines and adapted others found online and in the Cadalyst magazine. I understand that LISP is available in the more expensive pro version. Bottom line.. as long as I have need for inexpensive CAD program I'll be a DraftSight subscriber. Will there be a more robust Architectural version of DraftSight in the future?

Lynn can you or Draftsight do a comparison of which AutoCAD is comparable to which Draftsight? AutoCAD full version the same as Draftsight PRO? I have used your Tips and Tricks for many years!

Hello Does DraftSight have a customizable right button shortcut menu similar to Autocad where many commands can be added to the default shortcut menu. (prior to selecting an object)

I am a high school drafting teacher and a licensed architect. I have used Draftsight with my students in class and for my professional architectural projects for years. I love it. It was 2D only and does not take much computing power so it runs on the older school computers. ( I use Sketchup for 3D drawings.) And it was FREE - that is, up to December 2019. Is Dassault Systemes going to release a free educational version? That will be very helpful.

Lynn, you started a BLOG about EACH version being a yearly subscription OR a "BUY ONCE" license. I tried checking out the website and it DOES NOT offer a one-time purchase option. Question: Is Draftsight EVER going to offer that option? I have use AutoCad for many years and I WAS using Draftsight until the free versions were stopped.

Used it for years free, now they charge for it once they have a following. Great marketing.
