On paper it should have been low low 11. The last time I had it at the quarter mile, I ran 8.2@95mph in the eighth, which turned into 12.0@124mph. This pass was already 0.5 faster which means automatic 11.5, but I also had 9mph more speed at the eighth, and it's got about 100whp more. So probably somewhere deep in the 11's but not quite a 10, if I had to estimate.

@cerevo Жыл бұрын
probably stiffening the rebound of the rear shocks would help it squat and stay planted too. Tires definitely need more heat in them I bet. *edit* I think like 6-9 psi is more appropriate for drag radials
@Skouskou94 Жыл бұрын
Add some weight in the back ?
@charlest7092 Жыл бұрын
As someone who does a bit of drag racing my recommendations are simple. If your rear shocks are damping adjustable soften them up a a few clicks you need the car to squat when the weight transfers on the launch but if it bottoms out the shocks you'll break loose, launch control/2step at 4000-4500 and if possible keep the boost at 1-2psi for the hit, since the miata doesn't weigh much set the pressure in your slicks at 15psi to start maybe even lower, the burnout start in 2nd and rev it out for a good 4-6 seconds. If it absolutely lights the tires up on launch either back down the launch rpm or pull 1 psi from the tires till it hooks, if it bogs down bump your launch rpm. Change only one thing at a time.
@twoshortty Жыл бұрын
You don’t want an IRS car to squat, it changes the suspension geometry and will camber the tires out by a couple of degrees, for the most tire patch you want a stiff rear set up so you rely on weight transfer and not suspension dampening
@PolishAlexxАй бұрын
I agree with the OP. And imo 125mph is enough for 10s with the right 60' which the miata doesn't have. The squatting is needed but raise the ride height first to compensate for geometry changes.
@04sneakysnake Жыл бұрын
Greg, if you're serious about continuing to drag the car I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a Magnus clutch delay valve or something similar. Electronically controlled so it only works in 1st gear, no accidental slip on any other gears, and it'll make those 60fts way more consistent.

I run those same hoosier tires in a miata. I've gotten deep into the 1.50s for 60 foot time several times with those tires. I run at 13-14 psi. Might want to play with suspension setup and shock settings a bit. Try some more positive camber in the rear. you want the contact patch flat when launching. that requires some positive camber. It will be a lot more of a challenge with a manual, but should be doable. Congrats on topping 100mph in the 1/8th, not that many bp miatas do that.
@TheCarPassionChannel Жыл бұрын
That's very encouraging information 😁 1.5 60's must feel insane!
@TOMONAGE Жыл бұрын
@@TheCarPassionChannel That was with an automatic transmission though, I think you can duplicate it with a manual, but will be more of a challenge. You may need even lower tire pressure than what I run. You have some of my old 0-60 and 1/8th mile timeslips on your global hairdresser flexoff. The posted times was on those tires. The car has gone quicker since, and am still using those hoosier dr2's. Your 104mph trap speed indicates you should be able to crack into the 6s for the 1/8th if you get everything set up just right and get a really good launch.

2nd gear burn out is a must, also your suspension needs some work. seems like there's not enough travels, car squats hits the end of travels, then knocks the tires loose , might want to stiffen the rebound in the rear, and soften it up in the front. other option is smaller wheel and bias plys with some sidewall.

I just have a stock 1995 Miata, but lately I've been thinking about getting a newer car, like an ND Miata RF. I test drove a 2020 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth the other day, and I just didn't like how it felt. It seems like I fit better in my old Miata, like I felt as if I had way more of the car up around me in the Fiat. I had to use the backup camera in the Fiat, even with the top down, whereas I can see just fine out of my Miata with the removable hard top. The window sills and the windshields just seem lower on my old Miata. I suspect that might be a safety feature, but that's disheartening because it means that pretty much any newer car will feel that way to me. I don't know if I just have normal length legs, but a short torso or what lol but long story short, now I'm considering trying to upgrade my Miata into a track car and fix my other car. I have a Ford Escape, but the one shock absorber mount rusted off of the body. It's kinda cool; it's a manual transmission and has all wheel drive. The main caveat to turbocharging my current Miata is that I messed up the crankshaft when I changed the timing belt myself like 5 years ago. I didn't tighten the crankshaft bolt enough, so it came loose and messed up the keyway. The local shop epoxied it for me. I think it would be easier to just have the whole engine and transmission swapped, if I was going to go that route. I've also been thinking about just saving up money and trying to get one of those new Nissan Z's or Toyota Supra's. They're so expensive and hard to find, but if I save up a big enough down payment then I think I could afford one. I found a Porsche 944 for $5500 at a small local dealership a couple days ago. It allegedly runs, so that might be a good deal. I just looked online and the ones I found for sale were all like $20k and up.
