Last year he did not compete in hotrod drag week either. He only did Rocky Mtn. I think he is doing the same thing again this year. Even though he is a 5 time winner he has a tumultuous relationship with Hotrod and Frieberger because they personally screwed Larson on more than one occasion in the past by changing rules at the last minute. Im pretty sure he is not a fan anymore. I don't know if that has anything to do with why he doesn't compete anymore. Also what's he got left to prove?

two years late replying here, but having run the event, they legitimately don't sleep for almost a week straight. They drive in shifts and sleep in the car, and the co-drivers take footage. It's nuts. Matt and Kyle are insane.

@1320video If you want to see something unique and rear engine. Look for that corvair @19:00. It's the only rear engine car made by Chevy. It originally comes with an all aluminum flat 6. It's not that fast, but it's definitely cool.
