DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT - Hatred For Makind (Full Album Guitar Cover)

UK extreme metal collective Dragged Into Sunlight has been my favorite band for at least three years at this point, and I have been occasionally trying to learn some of the songs off this album by ear, to the point where I figured I might as well try and learn the whole album on guitar. I'm sure there's a few riffs here and there that aren't totally on point, and I definitely still have a lot to learn about recording audio and video.
Anyway, I still wanted to pay tribute to this awesome album by, in my opinion, the best and most underrated extreme metal band out there. I can honestly say I have never heard a band whose sound and aesthetic resonated so well with me as with these guys. This band have played around with just about every subgenre of extreme music there is, though I'd say the styles that are most prominent on this album are death-, black-, sludge-metal and noise.

You’re an incredible player. Watching you do this makes me truly appreciate how eclectic this album is in its extremes. Seeing all of the techniques employed and the tapestry of heavy metal guitar playing styles was like watching someone speak five languages fluently & skillfully. Do you remember where you landed with your EQ? This is one of my favorite albums tonally and you sounded right on.

Wow! This is so impressive to me. I just started learning guitar a few months ago. Could you give tips on how you figured out how to play this album by ear? How did you learn how to play like that? How do you figure out things like what key to play in, proper effects pedals, how to figure out every note, etc.?

Thanks a lot man! The short answer is practice and patience. If you are to start learning something like this genre-wise, I'd recommend learning Bolt Thrower. Super simple, but super badass riffs, also in B standard tuning, as you will find with a lot of death metal bands, with a few excpetions. In terms of tone, it is purely based on Simon Smiths toturial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGHcnaBsa9SZj7M Although if I were to make a cover like this now, I would probably just use an HM2 pedal or something similar. Even though it is not the tone/pedal used by this band, I feel like it would suit the style quite well

@@999yuiop Pretty much. With this album, i just started learning different riffs here and there, until i decided to just try and learn the whole thing. Though if you want to learn stuff by ear, I would definetely recommend starting with something that has a more clear production, since I still doubt that I got 100% of the riffs on this album right

That song is SO fun to play! That super (well more so than the rest of this particular song) evil, dissonant riff and the intro to Boiled Angel are almost always the first riff I play when I pick up my guitar!

is B standard some sort of low tuning ? lower than D standard or something ?

Yup. The notes go from A to G, with E tuning being the standard tuning. So i believe B standard is two and a half steps down from E.

@@TheMorbidAssholeThankyou! I think it has to do with the strings being relatively new, as well as recording two tracks (one panned to each side), and recording directly into the amp without the use of pedals.
