The butterflies thing is a reference to the Feastday Gifts and Pranks DLC from DAO, in which one of the prank items you can gift to Sten is the Butterfly Sword which is an actual greatsword you can equip that looks like a rainbow with a bunch of butterflies

What I like about Merrill is that I could never really tell when she talks about trees getting jealous at frolicking or the keeper telling them not to pull each other's hair whether she was serious or joking

Act 3, just "The Last Straw" remaining, I've just returned to Kirkwall after finishing Legacy and Merrill's "Do you think we'll win" banter kicks in. I got chills. This game is a masterpiece.

Am I the only one who feels like Merrill is being intentionally.... obtuse? Clueless? When Aveline interrogated her about the mirrors even her. Merrill can be naive, especially about human society, but not to this extent. Especially since she repeatedly says she KNOWS what she's doing is dangerous, and that she's being careful. Her tone also seems a little different. I honestly don't think Merrill is stupid at all. Naive at times, but not stupid.

Maybe she does intentionally so people will underestimate her? Maybe she just likes being cute and that's why she does it?

She is stupid. Even more because she knew the mirror was dangerous and even so she kept working on it. And even she truly didnt realizd the danger of the mirror and the pride demon aiding her, then she is more stupid of what I thought.

@Wardog261291 All party members try to persuade Merrill to give up blood magic. Fenris and Anders just hate it the most so they insist more. I like Merrill’s relation with Izzy and Varric more than with Aveline. They’re like her parents or big brother and sister; warm and always looking out for her.

@wtfftwffsssf I like the one about Merrill’s mirror being a danger to the people of Kirkwall best (2.30). Aveline & Merril have got some great banter in Legacy DLC as well, about candy shop full of villains and being afraid of shoes. ^^ I’ll upload it soon.

she never fully tells him off but she snaps at him when he's at his cruelest e.g. with Pol's death he calls Merrill a monster and Isabela snaps "you're not helping!"

Solas and even Duncan say that Blood Magic is not as evil as we think. It may be true, as we dont know its true nature and what is Bioware planning to do with it. But one thing is for sure, until now there hasnt been any blood mage who doesnt do anything evil or stupid with Blood Magic, and Merril is not an exception.

Hawke (diplomatic), Aveline , Varric and Bethany are definitely my favorite characters in this game. Gameplay wise I like to use Merril because she is cool, character wise Merril annoys me for completely...and she is stupid.
