YES, it is finally here. The video I've been waiting for! Pretty awesome build, definitely a nice inspiration for my own 2h champion build. And I agree, the Siege-Breaker upgrade is easily one of the top 3 upgrades in the entire game. It's just so powerful, most of the time Blackwall's guard doesn't even change, because the damage he takes is lower than the guard that Siege-Breaker increased. ^_^

i think its a very cool build - especially if you want to play solo...im just not sure about a team build - i like that all my characters bring something in for the team...and abilities like warhorn, horn of valor, blessed blades are very useful for the whole team (besides barriers of course)...same goes for rally which is think is from a team perspective by far the best focus skill - its amazing... and warhorn is probably one of the most underrated skills ever - it is awesome

NOW I REMEMBER. It does surprising amounts of dmg and the ai loves using it, So when tanking, you charging bull through them and combat roll back in the fray. That's why I like it, also just rolling is lovely

My PC champ is also 2h, running medium armor with dex/cunning. Invested in Warcry > To the Death > Walking Fortress > Whirlwind. You can pull of some crazy damage with that. Only downside is in the early hours there just isnt enough points to go around, and i really miss the grappling hook and some sort of stamina recovery.

As you can see you had some problems with the shielded warriors, if you had Combat Roll you would be capable of quickly dodging and reposition yourself behind them and set up for new combo or ability. Simple. but its wha ever. Thanks for the video, im using Combat roll and took some of your suggestions as well.

I think you're exaggerating the usefulness of Combat roll, and the shielded warrior battle also shouldn't have been your example to try and prove it either. For one, I'm the tank. They're hitting me, and I'm taking little to no damage thanks to my build and team comp. There's really no problem here in my eyes. Second, even IF I had the lightning reflexes to dodge those attacks to reposition, again, I'm the tank. They're just going to turn around and start doing it again. Combat roll doesn't counter their knockdown attacks, so it really solves nothing here. What I should have done is react better and not underestimate how often they would knock me down. Even if this were a problem with these guys, they're one of maybe three enemies I can think of in the entire game that players may struggle with like this. And when it's that situational, it's not worth spending the point or having it take up a slot on my action space.

I think a skill that goes great with the 2h champion is whirlwind plus the upgrade especially with walking fortress on you hit them for 8 seconds uninterrupted!I usually don't take to the death so I invest those two points there

Playing as a DPS tank seems like a great option to go. The AI is good at DPS, and tanking, but not so much DPS tanking. By filling that role and playing efficiently I feel like it would overall boost your team's kill speed.

I understand your reasoning with charging bull over combat roll but don't forget about the upgrade for the roll. That upgrade removes debuffs that were put on you. A two handed warrior doesn't have payback strike or shield wall to protect them so combat roll can really help them in those situations. My weapon & board champion didn't pick up combat roll but with all this talk of two handed tanks and how proactive, challenging & fun they seem to be I might be giving this a go in my next playthrough. Also I heard counterstrike doesn't work if you don't have a shield equipped. Did that get patched recently? Once again thanks for the video. Champion is the shit! It's good to be Champion.

"in those situations" And that's exactly my problem with it. It's more situational than Charging Bull. I avoid taking skills or skill combos if they are mainly useful for certain situations. Instead I build around skills and passives that give the most benefit to the majority, if not always a benefit to the fight. A good example of this is the upgrade to Long Shot for Archer called Archers Lance. It allows the skill to pierce through enemies and hit enemies that are fairly in line with each other. But how often does that happen? Not very. So to me, like Combat Roll, it's too situational and so I don't go for it. Debuffs in DAI are more of an annoyance than a major bane I think. It's not like an affix in Diablo like Arcane or Frozen that can kill you in seconds. Here, even if you get a debuff which is rare, it doesn't last long and usually doesn't do much damage. Also I have no idea bout that with Counterstrike. I will have to try it and find out I guess. That sounds ridiculous if it doesn't work without a shield.

KineticGTR i absolutly agree with kinetic - i think charging bull and warhorn are two of the most underrated abilities there are... i would go charging bull over combat roll any day - hell my tank warrior killed the dragon in crest wood alone, using only charging bull and shieldbash (took me 15 mins) after my idiot companions died all in the first minutes of the fight (of course after draining my health potions first)

All you need for a 2 handed warrior build are the guard generator skills and combat roll with the damage upgrade. It's ridiculous, but it's easy mode. Rolling for 3k+ damage even with my level 12 Champion.

When this vid was made the dlc didn't exist, and so all the skill trees were pretty much utter garbage. Especially for warriors. I know because I'm stuck with the base game for now, 9 years late to the party, and almost every YT build video doesn't work for me save for these, because he's the ONLY one with base game builds out. It actually sucks. Feel like warriors were almost intentionally gimped to sell them back to you with DLC MANDATORY skills for them to work well. There is so little real synergy and build variety in base game almost makes me wanna uninstall.

Hi kinect! Great guides. I've been kind of in a rut when trying to plan out what skills to get for my characters with so many choices and your videos have seriously helped me narrow it down. I do have a couple of questions though if you don't mind. I'm making my main character a rift Mage no doubt. I was probably going to do a 2 Mage one rogue one archer. Solas will most likely be the knight enchanter. Now my question is should I make the warriors pure tank? Or the fact that I have knight enchanter should I make it more damage focused? Also I have no idea what direction to go with the rogue. All of these builds seem great and with what I'm planning I probably need the highest dps I can get from the rogue. Thanks for all your help!

I see you're good at responding to comments, so I'll cross my fingers and hope you're still looking at them for this video. I know your favorite Specialization is Reaver and it sounded really cool at first, but I'm just not feeling it for my play style. So I'm thinking about restarting and using this build and act as the main tank while still having a little more dps due to the 2H weapon. I plan on using Cassandra pretty much 100% of the time as support/off-tank, Varric as Rogue(though I'm willing to use any of them), and either Solas or Dorian as Mage. Is 2H champ/cassandra a viable combination? Do you have any opinion on the rest of the team if so? Oh I forgot to mention I'm planning on running Cassandra 1H/S. This question is directed towards Kinetic but I'd love someone(anyone) else to reply as well on opinions on this. I don't want to wait too long to start a new playthrough so I don't get burned out.

I definitely think that running cass 1h/s as an off tank and you as the main 2h tank is a viable combination. I'd pick Dorian over Solas, mainly due to preference I like having Dorian around as he is a fun character and also as a human he benefits from an extra skill point(not too important but still there), plus the destructive potential of a necro-mage combined with the damage output Varric can provide (especially with an upgraded version of Bianca) is totally nice.

I'm currently playing as a SnS Templar Whit Blackwall as a 2H tank and its working very well so a 2H champ + Cass SnS should work too. I've try Dorian and Solas whit that team and they are both good whit the build I'm using. Varric is great but I'm currently runnig Sera cuz she is more funny :)

im using cassandra as a support tank with h+s she uses (not sure if i get all the names right - i usually use the upgrade) rally - best support focus in the game spell purge - dispeling outside of mage classes is really useful for rifts later on heavens wrath - support and u can make a nice combo -> charging bull / free heavens wrath / spell purge - and u get yourself your own combo cross-class combo grappling chain charging bull shield bash war cry the last spot is open...u can use shield wall which is the obvious choice...i currently play a bit more offensive and use payback strike

DarkHeroCC chance to use hidden blades and generate guard on hit are my go to masterworks heal 25 percent of damage taken over 10 seconds can be good too on a build like this, can get that from fade touched dawnstone I believe.

What party setup do you recommend? I play as a rogue and use a bow at the moment. Blackwall is a tank currently with sword and shield. Then i usually have Sera or Cassandra. But when i comes to the mage I don't really know. I want to have someone who can cast Barrier and protect the rest of the crew and still do decent damage and can take care of themselves. Any recommendations? :)

You should really look into Knight-Enchanter (Warning ahead of time just in case) if you want support which you really need with only one melee sometimes. And it can really boost your damage if you have a Dual Dagger Rogue in the party (Best-Cole or Sera) Otherwise,Necromancer is pretty good at sustaining damage by using DoTs from Walking Bomb and other skills, it can really be defensive even more so when you have Barrier upgraded. So to sum up, either Necro or Knight Enchanter and take a Dual Dagger Rogue if you want, otherwise just those two specs will set you up. Hope this helped :)

LeedleGod Thanks! Currently using Dorian and Necro to try it out. Going to make my own character a dual dagger rogue I think, I start becoming a bit tired of using a bow. Then I'll roll with probably Blackwall as a badass tank and Cassandra that also can take some damage so I can sneak in and do my thing unharmed, Can't decide whether to pick Tempest or Assassin as my specialization though.. Question. Can this build work with a reaver build? Basically you still get the skills that gives guard from vanguard tree, reduce your health with dragon rage, activate ring of pain with blood frenzy when health is low, cast grappling chain for knock down and then might blow? Mighty blow hits around 700% weapon damage with fervor and ring of pain + crit damage and crit chance?

I've mentioned in the past, and I think also in the Trespasser vid I made, that few new options really changed the builds, and that they are still more than viable as they are to dominate the game. If anything, the builds can still be used and some tweaks made to the players liking (as always) based on things they think can improve the build for them. :)

MrMacAwsome Templar's only real use is against demons, while Reaver tears thru just about anything. Masterwork a Hidden Blades 2-hander & armor with Guard on Hit and you got it made in the shade.

MrMacAwsome It sounds to me like you want to play a DPS Warrior, but need to build more defensively. Templar and Reaver can be build a little tanking without losing too much offensive capability I think. You may not even need to go that far though. Maybe just play the fights differently. Make sure Blackwall engages enemies first so he gets aggro, and then you move in to the fight. Simple things like that can really help a melee survivability.

Thanks for the tip, I never really made use of switching to other characters to start off a fight since i opened every fight with my archer rogue in my first play through. Ill try controlling backwall from now on. I think i might go templar anyway, because they seem to be more control orientated which is a different style than the rogue i played.

timing is everything. when you see a mob trying to hit you, that's when you want to block. once you get a few counters, practice makes perfect.

Dyl C that way is impractical save for demons which are pretty fast compared to all the other. Like I said 4weeks ago, timing is everything. Once you know when to use block and slash you're almost invincible.

been running a two handed battlemaster, feels weak af, i have 10 more strength than my cassandra and I feel like she out damages me, im on normal btw, going to areas that are in my recommended lvl 4-7 and half the enemies are lvl 8-12 two handed and battlemaster offer zero constitution passives, should i just put points into sword and shield so i can be slightly tanky? legit sera (the archer) is surviving multiple hits from things that seem to 1 shot me..... WHAT KIND OF WARRIOR AM I??!?!?! I think i'll just restart and run a mage >.>

Evering Hall battlemaster’s not supposed to be focused on. You need to mix and match the skills. If you want more tankiness get some vanguard skills like warcry and charging bull, it gives you guard which is kinda like temporary health that also considers your damage reductions.

He has done a Two-Hand Templar before. Although it may not be exactly a Tank though, you MIGHT be able to do it.

When you either A. Bring Blackwall somewhere after reaching Skyhold and he is level 8-10 or higher. B. Choose the champion specialization which requires the "Way of the Champion" quest to be completed, again, after going to Skyhold and are level 8-10 or higher

templar commander arnor you find it in the western approach but its not that good if you purchase the schematic at the hissing wastes merchant you can make a great templar armor

no problem!i had forgot about this game and got into it again a while ago and wanted to make a two handed warrior,also i love templars and I remember the first time playing i didn't know where to find their armor so i wanted to save you the frustration 😝

my fav character and my first was a two handed champion that was UNSTOPPABLE in combat because he always had guard no matter what

Champion is very good for surviving nightmare :) its all fun n games till he uses to the death on a dragon tho :/ halfway through the fight everyone in your party gets one shotd

Jrdn Mrti then solo the dragon. I've done it before with a champion. Everyone died and Blackwall pretty much did 80% of the work by himself like a boss

Is the kick after chain pull automatic? When I pull an enemy it usually just gets pulled then my character melees it. Does it have to be upgraded to knock the enemy down after being pulled?

yes the upgrade is what causes you to kick them down.
