One handed passive abilities work on 2H warriors... 50% dmg reduction from ranged + 20% dmg reduction from front attacks is a good way to keep your guard safe from evaporating in one blow (nightmare difficulty), and reavers need guard because sometimes their health will go down pretty fast. There is also dmg reduction from armor upgrades that you can craft that will further protect your guard (and protect health if guard is broken). Dont get "it will cost you passive", its useless, minions deals hundreds of dmg points and have thousands of hit points, so 15% of their damage returned is close to nothing. Battlemaster tree has much better passives! Also, upgraded grappling chain knocks down minions. If used correctly, "charging bull" + "mighty blow" + "grappling chain" will keep your enemies down for a very long time and cause devastating damage while doing so. Leave the reaver skills for the big guys or targets you want to see gone asap. This combo of abilities uses a lot of points, but its the most fun build i made so far. The 8 skills i use for this are: mighty blow, charging bull, grappling chain, challenge (but as soon as i have the points i will trade for upgraded war cry), ring of pain, dragon rage, devour and focus ability (for bosses rampage, for big crowds the inquisitor unique ability). Hope this helps!

Am I the only one who thinks that a Vivienne and a black wall fight would end in stalemate? Blackwall has infinite guard and viviene has infinite barrier. Black wall does bonus damage to taunts and can counter attacks, vivine can attack against armor and revive people.

I'd like to see either a Templar or rift mage build, Knight Enchanter is too easy to make overpowered to warrant a build guide in my opinion haha, nice video by the way i had NO idea dragon rage was an attack ability like spirit blade, that's cool! Also, shut up Vivienne you snobby bitch :)

I find that Gore and Trample ties in really well with Devour. All of a sudden that big 65 stamina cost ability becomes a freebie that you can use whenever its cooldown is up (since Charging Bull has a shorter cooldown). Between Flow of Battle and constant Charging Bull you are also generating guard frequently as well.

KineticGTR I am enjoying the guides Kinetic, i'm using them specifically for my companions, so having some additional insight on builds catering to them is much appreciated. for instance i notice you disable the AI from using certain skills, such as Dragon rage, because they dont use them very well. A list of which ones you do this to, as well as the preferred skills would be much appreciated for future videos. instead of making new guides just for companions you could list that info and any notes or changes for AI companions in the Video description.

Kinetic, thank you. I'm deployed overseas right now, still waiting for my copy of DA:I, and I find your videos - all of them really, entertaining, knowledgeable and well put together. I play melee and normally rock either Warrior or rogue. The Reaver spec looks awesome, however, I've looked at some sword and shield builds and I'm curious about the viability of having a sword and board/reaver spec. I know the DPS won't be as high as say a pure 2H warrior, but for utility and survivability mixed with something different, I think there could be a unique sense of synergy and was hoping that could you maybe look into a spec like that. Once again, nice work man and keep at it.

it'd be a difficult fight. but I reckon blackwall's infinite damage debuff with a well placed shield bash would probably take care of le vivienne. although I suppose if she breaks the 15 meter range BW wouldn't actually stand a chance.

The biggest issue i have with using Reaver is simply down to mindset - after spending so long in games watching health and keeping it up. Reaver is slightly(?) opposite and depends on being wounded in order to gain more damage. So thanks for this video as has helped me get better at it.

Found my reaver to be completely op when using the fade touched iron masterwork, the heals from that plus the various heal on kills stacks I had going meant I was never low on health. Combined with ring of pain which halves the health cost of Dragon rage, Im pretty much unstoppable on hard. Also, a tip when using devour inside of ring of pain, just use charging bull with its upgrade real quick and you can pop a devour for free, plus double the heals from ring of pain.
@dustinbiester44018 жыл бұрын
if your health stays full most of the time then you're using Reaver wrong. It is designed to do more damage (significantly more) with lower health. you generally want to have a maximum of 50% health. tip: get as much guard asap then start using dragon rage. it strips away your health but not your guard. I typically stay around 20% health, the damage differential is like night and day but I use war cry and the other skill shown in the video to keep as much guard as possible at all times so that i can safely maintain a 20% health bar. full health is for blackwall, not reavers.

My personal build for 2H Reaver is based on gear. Particullary on my weapon and ring. I use Hossberg Twainer(you can buy schem at suledin keep) and Superb Ring of Life-Drain. For both offense cloth slots i used Infused Vyrantium Samite and for metal offense slot i used Everite. Also i added Notched Two-Handed Haft and Ornate Pommel with same resources. Result: 50% life-drain on kill, so i don't have to worry about using Devour unless i'm fighting a dragon. Ring of pain -> Dragon Rage and i'm shreding everyone in sight. And if i'm killing them with Devour inside Ring of pain i'm returning 90% of health back.
@TheStrategist31410 жыл бұрын
Out of all the useful information gathered from here and other vids, the most accurate thing in all of these vids was something that was thrown in...maybe without notice if validity...it was when Vivian and Blackwall were talking about if they had gotten into a fight...Blackwall even admitted that a warrior wouldn't and can't compare to a mage. So much so that I play as one of the companions more than my main character and I'm even wrestling with throwing over 50 hours of gameplay away just to turn him into a mage. So if you're reading this and debating on who to take, I would go mage first, then rouge, then warrior...hell warriors are know for damage as well as taken punishment but the sheer amount of damage per second, combined with maneuverability and usefulness outside if battle, make the warrior almost useless.

the only thing I'll add is that there's definitely some merit in forgoing the guard generating abilities, and playing more risky. this build is very valid. but it's very safe. if you want to get some heavy DPS out of this, you could easily play it without guard, or minimal guard and get some DPS out of it.
@EkunA789 жыл бұрын
Reaver 2h warrior - most OP build. KE has more survability but with some fade touched silverite (with +5guard per hit) in at least 1 item (I would go for 2) it destroys everything. 21lvl dragon died in 3-4 minutes on nightmare. Would die much faster but was jumping around a lot. It's just crucial to get a several skills from the defensive tree - vanguard. After you have all passives there you can stop using challenge and the other taunt (with fade touched silverite) and of course with upgraded unbowed.

I ended up pulling Ring of Pain out of my skill rotation. Much like in MP, the amount of stamina that skill eats up prevents maximizing Devour spam, especially once you upgrade Dragon Rage so that it speeds up Devour's cool down. Leaving RoP out lets you have far more flexibility thanks to your Stamina not being eaten constantly. I can keep spamming Charging Bull, Challenge, etc. and I ended up with a much better rounded Reaver build. RoP is fine if you're just mopping up trash but in more involved fights it proved to mostly just be a hindrance.

also somthin to consider: idk if this is the work of a patch but the REAVERS Dragon Rage can now self-KO. full GUARD and my Reaver at 10% hp and i use Dragon Rage then one-two im dead! FULL guard and dead... this why i use heal on hit as a safety for when im on a full-on RAMPAGE fighting certain bosses that annoy the hell outa me. plus u only really need Guard-Smasher passive to shred a Dragons guard to pieces. 60% atk on my Reaver and killed the Abbysal high Dragon in under five min! i hav KE Vivi, Temp Cass (her buff passives r oh so good for Reavers), and Sera (who i hav set up as a Sunder specialist with 21% sunder with crit sunder passives). this party setup utterly tears defenses apart while keeping my Reaver fully buffed with dmg ups and stamina regen aka barrier.

I've done multiple play throughs and have specialized as a KE, tempest, assassin, templar and rift mage and reaver has BY FAR been my favorite specialization. The damage it deals makes KE look like a joke and it's all around more fun to play than spamming spirit blade in my opinion. Two handed reaver is my favorite class and spec hands down.
@1ButtonDash9 жыл бұрын
Abby Pierce i'm playin 2hd reaver now, do you have a similar build to what this video shows? i wish focus abilities weren't mapped, can't decide if i wanna use them or not. uhhg
@abbypierce41969 жыл бұрын
OneButton Dash i used all of the points in the reaver tree, upgrading all abilities. I only had War Cry as a skill to build guard because I had my armor typically crafted with obsidian, which already provided my guard for me. I used all of the skills from the Reaver spec and then pommel strike and earthshaking strike from the 2h tree. All of my passives are centered around either breaking an enemies guard easier, or increasing my crit chance. With that build, it was easily the most fun I had in my playthroughs. The only downside to reaver is that the FA is so not worth it. Just stick with the Mark of the Rift as your FA and leave that out, it's not needed.

Oh man Kinetic ,I absolutely dig Reaver . You can pretty rack tons of damage against Dragons by Dragon fisting + Aura of pain & a regenerative potion ,it's a high risk reward enjoyable Specc now . Much fairer then the OP KE , once I was at 10% HP & Solas drops Barrier on my Iron Bull ,he did 8K!!!! Damage in ONE strike on the bleeding limb !!

SSJ3Metrie you can have Cassandra with Templar & Me as Reaver + get her unbowed/challenge/warcry & all the passive tanker traits. Cassie fairs better at tanking in Open spaces then Blackwall imo. Warcry taunts the Shades/Fire & Pride demons ,Wrath of heaven/Blessed blades. All of them were be affected and severely weakened . Then i activate Aura of pain and go blitzkrieg ,pretty much entails my Rift battles lol . Rogue Assassin highest dps i have tested ingame, followed by Reaver

If you craft a masterwork weapon, make sure you put the 5% chance to activate unbowed. It happens way more than you would think as a fast attacking reaver and you don't really need to grab it in the talent tree until way later.

@RationallySkeptical10 жыл бұрын
DarkHeroCC Seriously? 1. You should know this already - its a warrior talent. 2. If you somehow managed to watch the video and not see it, there's something called "the internet" where you can get answers to questions like that by *looking stuff up yourself*. Its awesome because you don't have to look like a tool from asking people questions you should already know the answer to or at least know how to find the answer yourself... Wow.
@TwStedPrinCe9 жыл бұрын
RationallySkeptical that's funny, because the only person I think looks like the tool here, is you. You just wrote out 6 lines of elitist bullshit text rather than just giving the guy a simple answer to his question. Maybe he doesn't have a warrior yet? Maybe he isn't far enough into his warrior to know or understand all of the skills and terms yet? Wtf is the problem that he asked a warrior skill question here, on a video about warriors? People always dictating to others what is and what is not acceptable to ask. "go google it yourself hurr durr" Get off it. to DarkHeroCC, it's a skill in the Vanguard Tree for Warriors which helps to generate some guard. Check 3:29 on this video where he explains it a bit. That should help.
@RationallySkeptical9 жыл бұрын
Wrong. This guy obviously didnt even make an ATTEMPT to find the answer himself. It was a lazy question and deserved the ridicule. If you think there's nothing wrong with people who dont even try to look up basic stuff before asking others to hold their hand and spell out exactly what something is when the answer is 10 seconds away on google then you're an idiot and I don't apologize for my position. Looks like to me that you just needed to play hero and TRY to make me look like the jerk when actually my comment was spot on. Screw you, dude.

Is there anything different about having black wall as opposed to Cassandra or do you just like having him in the party. S/N: I love Vivienne's sass towards everyone lol
@MrPixelous9 жыл бұрын
Blackwall is miles above and beyond Cassandra as a tank once they get specializations. Just look at the champion tree compared to Templar. He gets basically infinite guard. 8 seconds of immunity if he takes a blow that would have killed him. Another on demand immunity. An ability that grants a stupid amount of party single target damage. And his focus is a massive AoE taunt/full guard/auto counter attack beast mode.... And Cassandra can... Do damage against demons... Ok...

I started a sword and shield character. Will he ever hit high or are they pretty much strictly to pull enemies towards you?

Great video - thank you. Why did you drop earth shaking strike from your build? And how are you keeping your ranged party members out of the melee? I have mine set to follow and defend themselves and they still run too close. In your video they seem to keep a safe distance. I spent my first 10 points per your earlier advice for a two handed warrior and like it. Keep up the great work.

Earth Shaking Ground is good, but too often, it doesn't work well for group fights and open areas. It's a good skill against dragons or other single target fights. I don't have any particularly special settings for my allies, they are almost all at default and I too have the same problem with them getting too close sometimes. Those first videos, the non-specializations are good for early game, and the specializations for mid to late game :)

Hey Im new to DA.I, and I made a one hand random build. Is it possible to reset the skills and make a two hand build? I put most my point in the one hand skill tree.

Awesome guide, but I was wondering the same thing - is a Reaver with Weapon & Shield viable? Thanks in advance.

What fade touched materials did you use with the reaver build? I usually use the on hit add guard and on hit add 1% of your maximum health. But with the reaver build, I am not sure if the adding health would make it less effective.
