I mean most people just want the choice to do what they want in term of who romances who because its a big aspect of the game and litterally can alter the world of thedas in their own saves state. I think as long as bioware gave the possibility for Rook to have an impact on who romance who the game will be just fine. I myself just waiting to see if its possible to affect companion romance between companions, since it can leads to bad save state as seen in previous games. Its why i'll probably watch a stream before buying the game tbh. Mainly because not being able to affect companion romance would feel like a choice being taken away from the player and a step back from the "choice that matter" aspect of the game since romances often matter and can alter a character fate by the end of the game in a drastic manner (think anders rivalry romance ending vs normal rivalry ending, in 1 he dies in the other he lives, and others such impactful choices that affect the world of thedas in big ways) I think its a big aspect that a lot people worry, especially for whom you think just hates the game but really just want to still being able to make an impact in that part of the story. I think it would ease a lot of people into wanting to know more about the game such as myself and many other people and would make for more romance variation between companion and could bring an interesting amount choice and as every companion is pansexual you could technically make everyone be romantically involved with the opposite sex or even the reverse and i think as long as there is option for both to happen then most people would be happy with it, and yes, it could even turn some hater, ive seen it happened before.

2:18:56 so we've already made this choice in game: during the mission where you go to save the mages in Redcliff, you end up in a terrible future. You make the choice to go back to change it. For us, it was only a year, so going back is feasible. If it had been ten years, or a hundred, what would the Inquisitor have done? What if the amulet for the ritual had been broken and going back wasn't even an option? Solas is dealing with that times a hundred. He can't go back to change it, all he can do is try to salvage what's left and bring the world back to what he sees and good and normal

In all seriousness, I don’t think Varric dies at this point in the game- he just wasn’t stood with the rest of the party when it happened. However, I do think he will die. Also, thank the maker for no more hissing waste style hell lol. It looked beautiful, but it was exhausting.

A quick note on why 'gods' are often evil in Dragon Age is that a central question to the world building is "What is faith worth when misplaced in currupt individuals and organizations?" It would be hard to make that aspect of the world building work if the gods were all good or not absent in the case of The Maker. It's a part of the world building I find interesting, but it can put the gods in a box quite easily as the series shows.

So crackpot theory time: we slowly become the Dreadwolf through out the game. Like a flemeth/mythal esk thing. With major choices along the lines of how much we allow the link to the fade (aka the DW) seep in. Making it even a more tinfoil hat scenario it’s why the name change. It gave away a twist… Probably not but just glad it’s almost time for more DA

I like Rook being there through working to get there. DAO the Warden got lucky Duncan happened to be there when stuff went down. DA2 you play through Hawk's hard work and rise to importance & influence which puts them in the situation they end up in at the end. DAI Inquisitor was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It seems in DAV Rook has been chosen (like Shepherd) for being qualified for the job. One of my favourite things with Bioware is none of the protagonists pre-destined to be where they are, no one got there because they were born special.

Maybe they were going for "even someone with only a passing interest is excited", but that's kind of a neither here nor there scenario. They would have been sending someone who's completed all three and someone who hasn't played any at all.

@@CrankyCat78 Absolutely. Especially with the comment in the article about how DAtV is what BioWare have been attempting to do since 2009 now that there are no technological constraints/compromises. That would have meant more coming from someone who has devoted hours to DAO through to Inquisition. I'm not commenting on their ability as a journalist, and hardcore DA fans are the first to slag off the problems with the series/EA so it's not an issue of bias either. It just felt so "meh" to me. Like we've been waiting ten years for this. It's a big frigging deal. I feel like a bit of an old timer having been actively obsessed with the franchise since DAO so I'm probably taking it a wee bit too hard haha

1:50 so random thought. What if the backlash of the failed ritual pushes Solas into a noncorporeal state (a spirit) and Rook's blood pulls Solas in? Are we playing an abomination? A la Wynne or Anders? Solas means Pride, after all, and Rook is our protagonist based on their own merits: ripe ground for a Pride demon

For the negativity, most of what I'm seeing is people accusing the game of being woke - which I predicted would happen, and it's being accused of going woke by doing nothing different to what it did 15 years ago and have been doing ever since. I'm only watching Jackdaw and Ghil Dirthalen vids cos those I trust. DAI taught me that open world without survival is just grind - because you have a huge area to explore but mostly what you find is side quests. Hundreds of side quests. They have to put them in or the open world is empty. So you just end up with hours and hours of grindy quests that don't contribute to the main story. In survival it makes sense. You need open world to go off, fight that critter to get bones, hide and meat to eat and make clothes, then cut trees and gather rocks to build your home. But in an RPG? It just means grindy side quests.

This is my theory on how Rook and the companions ended up in the Fade without getting destroyed by the two elder Elven gods. I think Solas, after your character destroyed the ritual, saw that his ritual was disturbed, leaving him and Varric getting sucked in and taking the place of the two Elven gods he was sending to the new prison. But before that could happen, he sent your character and the companions to his hideout while he and Varric were put into the prison that was originally meant for the Elven gods. ❤🎉

Im surprised they revealed Solas will be able to communicate with Rook from the veil, still no mention of varric which makes me nervous. Im looking forward to rescuing Solas and really hope he has a moment with Lavellan. I also wasnt going to play as an elf this time but i really think the past two games you get alot more dialogue and storyline as an elf, it just makes sense with Elven gods coming back to be an elf

So we are told Solas and Rook can communicate via the fade. Perhaps Solas helps guide Rook to the needed party members to help break him out of his prison so he can help defeat those who escaped. I find it interesting that all of the factions could possibly come across something within their faction that could help Solas with his end goal and save the current world he accidentally created. Each faction could help find something that belongs to an alternative idea that Solas by himself could not obtain the means necessary to pull off. Rook being connected to the fade permanently might be the catalyst that brings about a new idea and possibly why the inquisitor comes back into play. I do wonder if our faction makes Solas look at Rook differently and even have different dialogue for better or worse that is more than fun banter. Also, I do wonder if because the fade was done by Solas and it was his current spell if we are connected to him more than just because he is in the fade. I'm thinking Varric was just thrown to the wayside as he had already started backwards and had extra time off our screen to make a run for it. If he is alive, I'm guessing he was just tossed asside falling unconscious and our new bad guys didn't notice him. Solas damaging his beloved crossbow probably was so the writers had a reason to keep Varric out of the main action and possibly in the background. Varric probably is not sure what happened so could go and warn the Inqusitor among other authorities. It is just nice to finally have some concrete evidence to be able to theory craft with.

What I would like to see, is our inquisitor is going to be the one to put down solas much like Hawke did with Anders. They see him as their responsibility so they have no choice but to do it because of his stubborn character, and as a result he will be reborn as a new person, without his memories. And a solas romanced inquisitor can choose to start a new life with him or not. Or solas will sacrifice himself for a romanced inquisitor.

No guarantee he will be safe or thrive in the wild, but will nateral freedom. or you can have him stay. maybe a "hard" route where certain world states that favour wardens and "nature" choices ( the did you slay dragons etc tarrot ) where he willingly serves you but lives in the wild?

Aight i got 1 question before i start watching this : will we be able to do an hetero-normative playthrough where every romanceable companion and protagonist gets in either an hetero relationship or stay single. And no i dont hate lgbtq+ people i just wanna know if there is at least 1 path to be able to do it. Dragon Age is about choice that matters and in dragon age your companion often becomes important people so i at least want people to have the option to be able to do whatever they want, which could be going full lgbtq+ or full hetero. For me da was always about choice and if people want to choose not to have to experience companion doing lgbtq+ romances i think that choice should be available for those would wanna choose it. Thanks in advance for your kind reply and for the information. I wish nothing but the best for this game, just wanna be sure people still have an element of choice in who ends up being romantically involved with who, that was a main traits of the franchises between protagonist and charaters, just wanna know if they extended that choice to the player being able to affect that aspect of the game even despite not being involved between the relation that all companion can have between each others. It seems like a natural progression of the romance system that we had before, just wanna make sure player can still have an impact on that part of the story.

I'd really wish you were more critical - I mean you haven't suck to the level of Mr. Matty (MrMattyPlays), who has sadly it seems turned into a mouthpiece for the likes of EA (and especialyl EAware - as Bioware is dead IMHO...I mean the trailers for Veilguard show that! Do they really think that most Dragon Age fans wanted an action-combat-system/wanted their game to be Mass-Effected (it frankly plays like Mass Effect without having a cover mechanic!)? Do they really believe that we want to be restricted to 3 active abilities (seriously, this is no HERO-Shooter and it's also not Destiny either!) and 2 companions?)...so please: MORE CRITICISM FROM YOU CREATORS! Even if you don't get a review copy then, your integrity should IMHO be worth that!
