as someone who is trans i actually liked the scene with isabella. speaking from personal experience, it is absolutely a real thing that cis people, when called out on misgendering, will over apologize to the point of annoyance and make a whole scene instead of just fixing it and moving on, which is only exacerbated when they repeatedly make the same mistake. it was a really genuinely nice surprise, in my view, to see the game tackle that feeling, even if a bit too on the nose, given that i've, across all my experience in games and visual novels, not seen one tackle that specific experience. worth noting, though, that this is coming from someone who liked veilguard more than inquisiton (though still less than origins), and im also an inquisition defender, so i might be a bit biased lol

Bioware has always been progressive, and is one of the reasons many of us loved them, it allowed all of us (well most of us) to enjoy the game the way they wanted. That's the issue (at least for what concerns this apsect) with Veilguard is that you can't anymore, Rook is not "me" and there's no way for me to make them sound like me, this wouldn't be an issue if they were at least a very defined character (e.g. Geralt in the Witcher), but instead it's just an in-between, lacking deep characterization of set protagonists while at the same time removing a lot of options to personalize it. The real issue for me thou is combat, I personally disliked it so much I ended up uninstallng the game at around the 25th hour, I couldn'ty enjoy it anymore, there's a reason I always preferred DA over ME and what we got with Veilguard is a ME light experience.

must suck playing a game that is a mockery of the original series.
