Dialogue - yes, agreed! However, i do wish we could have some of the technical things in BG3, like the much better character generator in DAV, as well as the way banter works with the dynamic interruption/resume thing. Also the more reactive main character in cinematic scenes. Stuff like that!

Yep, just increase the difficulty to custom honor mode to compensate, otherwise it's WAY to easy with extra characters. There are mods (at least unofficial ones) that can increase difficulty as well for larger groups.

Same here, I had never played D&D even, I had to restart BG3 3 times the more I learned about the turn based combat (and the all freedom you have that blows your mind). But after I got hang of it its almost like I dont want to play anything else, BG3 Is this centuries best game, Period! I wonder if Larian even can top this, but I hope so. I finished BG3 a couple of months ago and are taking a break but will for sure return to it the coming months.

The thing about Metaphor is it’s not the kind of game you just run around and do stuff in. Like Persona, there is a calendar counting down moving you forward constantly. It’s much more of a “do a playthrough and move on” kind of game. Plus the story is the same each time. BG3 on the other hand is more of a “do a playthrough, start a new one and do different things, f*ck around in act 1, start a new character in a different class/race, f*ck around in act 1 some more, repeat” kind of game. Metaphor is incredible though.

I found Metaphors narrative and companions far more compelling and I was surprised at how many messages and relevant things it spoke on. BG3 since it’s open ended doesn’t even exactly have a core theme. I have less hours in Metaphor than BG3 and yet I think about Metaphor far more and it really sticks with me. Games don’t need to have deep core themes or anything but it makes me connect to them a lot personally

I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on November 10th and 11th. It’s easy to get back into it and start new runs when there are sooooo many different builds that can significantly change the experience. With modding and upcoming campaigns like in the video, the possibilities are even higher for having new experiences.

It’s the extreme high quality and replayability that wins out, wish I had a pc though, these mod expansions sounds fun. Console sadly don’t got any, but at least the game itself and vanilla is fun. Now if I only knew if installing that one mod to expand the party won’t mess with my save lol.

If you want to add in that mod, I'd recommend; Create a second, third and fourth save file as backups. Add in the mod you want to test. Load your first save to test it. If it works, you're done. Keep the other saves just in case. If it doesn't, quit to menu and remove the mod, delete the save you loaded to test and start playing from the backup saves. That all said, if you want to play it proper safe, start a new save for mods. Mods are always risky but definitely worth it!

I checked other games for numbers: Last Epoch have a 4467 peak over 24h Cyberpunk 2077 have a 40697 peak over 24h Skyrim have a 32708 peak over 24h So even Skyrim, which is far from being recent, still lives on because of mods. Cyberpunk with mods can also feel really different quickly.

We already spend so much time replaying the main base game; I can't imagine how much that will increase once we have modded expansions like entirely new areas or whole questlines (or both!). This game isn't dying out anytime soon, I don't think! It's definitely the modern version of Skyrim in terms of longevity.

I think it will last a long time, but probably not as long as Skyrim since the mod tools seem to be more restrictive. Skyrim still averages around 30k players and has stayed around that level for the past 3 years according to steamDB, plus Skyrim has gotten multiple rereleases and major upgrades since launch which I don't expect from BG3.

I'm still yet to try any MODS on BG3. Might wanna try out a playthrough with the party size MOD just to get accustomed to them and be ready for the awesome big content MODS!

I think the disappointment that is DA:The Safeguard is responsible for an uptick in sales for BG3. Larian were really smart to put BG3 on sale for a week or so but even after that sale it's still selling better than DA:The Safeguard

I would argue that with all the updates, improvement, quality of life stuff, honor mode, modding support, etc... that too counts as a DLC for Baldur's Gate 3. A free DLC that improves replayability of an already super replayable game. All those other RPGs (with the exception of Veilguard maybe) are great games but unfortunately don't really offer any replay value. I put over 100 hours in both FF16 and Metaphor, I think Metaphor has a good chance of winning GOTY, but I've simply done everything I could possibly do. Right now I have no reason to play it anymore. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for BG3 to add crossplay so I can start a new run with my friend who is on PC

Very cool! I'm happy to see BG3 continue to rank in the top half of the Steam Sales and Most Played lists. I'm hoping these talented and ambitious modders can deliver beautiful and fun new areas to the game.
