Just finished it at around 50 hours. I can't believe how little side content you all did. lol. I went into the last battles with all companions at Veilguard status and all allies at 3 stars. I was level 50 with maxed out gear, and even got the special rune from Morrigan. Everyone but Harding lived in mine, and I convinced Solas to tie himself to the veil with Mythal's essence. Also, I got the ending cutscene with Matt Mercer as ???? saying "the poisoned fruit ripens" as a hint at maybe the next game's antagonist. It blows my mind that someone could have a game turn out like Andy's did. lmao

Andy's story is wild 🤣. I was the same - everyone hero and all factions maxed at 50 hours. Also, didn't fight Mythal which it sounds like they did. I don't know if any of them can get the "good" ending based on what they said.

@@EveryTimeIDavid I don’t think any of them fought Mythal because they weren’t aware of the quest at all. Greg was the only one that did the murals, and maybe he didn’t do all of them, to get that quest. I messed up the dialogue, so I fought Mythal and defeated the dragon, even though I was like 20 levels underleveled 😂 (played on Normal), and I still got the best ending with Solavellan and Solas redeeming himself.

Finished my first playthrough last night and started my 2nd this morning. I love this game, despite its flaws. Fuck the people who hate the game for “pushing a woke agenda.” But I see where other people are coming from when they are criticizing the art style or writing, etc. To me, the writing is very inconsistent. The dialogue varies widely from cringe to charming, imo. Even in the same conversation a companion will say something really funny or endearing and then something really awkward or off-topic. I am not a fan at all of how the Antivan Crows are portrayed. I don’t mind Lucanis accepting a contract and following through, but everything else is off. They’re supposed to be this super shady and dark assassins who will take any contract and they kill their own assassins if they ever fail to complete a contract. In this game they’re like this jovial group of freedom fighting vigilantes who love and protect each other like a family. I have a ton of criticisms. But I also love the game and am starting a 2nd playthrough despite having just 100% it last night. I have a truck load of criticisms for BG3 but I have like 750 hours played of that game.

One thing I really enjoyed about the game was how it made me connect to the companions as the story went. I loved Emmerichs story and its ending with Manfred (hardest decision I had to make). I was very cold on Neve for most of the game but by the end of her story I really came to like her. Davrin started out as really boring but once again, I ended up loving him and cheered when he survived the final fight. Bellara I found really annoying but as she sort of matured in her plot I can to really like her, especially when she helped saved the day right at the end. Taash started as very distant and cold but the more you learned about them the more they made sense and opened up. (And makes it extra annoying when chuds take their cutscenes out of context) Lucanis was an all timer straight from the get go. Harding was there also.

Just rolled credits, overall I enjoyed the game but it would have to be bottom of my ranking of Dragon Ages. My two biggest gripes with the story is how much it disregards the previous games and that painfully obvious Varric twist. I clocked it the second Harding walked into the room and didn’t acknowledge her old friend that was stabbed in the chest with a massive dagger. Then made more and more obvious every time he’d wander out and no one would talk to him. If they wanted to do the twist where it was Solas all along, they should’ve made it so everyone could see him not just Rook. They really missed a trick not giving him a proper death and memorial and giving players a reason to hate Solas.
@Reeceisyourfriend12 күн бұрын
And my bonus gripe is that Harding or Davrin HAVE to die. What’s the point of bonding with them and making them stronger if they can’t use that experience to fight back in the end like in Mass Effect 2?
@Guava1153410 күн бұрын
@@Reeceisyourfriendit sucks but sometimes shit happens. You can’t prevent everything from happening just like in Mass Effect you either let Kaidan or Ashley die. That choice for me hurt because I really like both characters and normally I would Harding to live but man it genuinely hurt me to see Assan jump into the pit of blight to die with Davrin.

Yall… with an inquisitor that romanced solas there is an option to save solas. You convince him to change and he willingly ties himself to the veil and the inquisitor goes with him. IT WAS AWESOME
@EveryTimeIDavid10 күн бұрын
You can do that without him being in a relationship with the Inquisitor. The most important piece there is how you handle Mythal.

I played as stern also, and I agree with Mike that you can’t be evil… but I actually LOVED the writing of it. I played as an almost always stern or angry rook but picked all of the “good” options in the story and it worked so so so well. And I loved that no matter which choose you made it sounded like the same character. It makes it so you can explore the tree instead of always choosing the same one

i had a similar reaction as greg except with davrin. i ended up romancing him and loved him viscerally. when we got to the part where we have to send him or harding i sent harding because earlier in the game she was upset i chose neve to come with me instead of her. when she died i was crying because i almost sent davrin and assan after all the romance and extra story sections we had together. i loved my playthrough but agree you really have to play it pretty linearly.

I'm so conflicted on this game. I like a lot of things about the game (mostly the characters, their individual stories, and I actually like Rook for the most part), but I am not a fan of the main story, I am so tired of everything being the blight, and it really seems like they've retooled all of Dragon Age with this game. I stand by this doesn't feel like Dragon Age. The look softens things too much, and they've basically retconned the entire series to this point. That's a weird feeling. At the same time, the game got me at a couple points, and I rarely didn't enjoy my time playing. The writing is definitely hit or miss, but I think they really got to the heart of what they were going for. Also, kind of messed up they pushed Mercer as Manfred so hard for him not to be one of your real companions. I would have rode and died with that skeleton. Last thing, I don't like that you have a guaranteed death that you choose in the final mission. That's hard for a game you give so much choice in. It's like in BG3 where you have to have a mindflayer to progress.

The whole Dei woke crowd make it so fucking difficult to critique this game. Everyone automatically assumes any negative take is fueled by anti-woke/Dei hate. Overall, i enjoyed it. 100% at 50hrs. Visualy, it was gorgeous, ignoring plastic characters faces, and I enjoyed the moment to moment gameplay. The charactors were by far the weakest of any DA game and the main storg only became good towards the end. Specifcally, Neve is uttelry monotone the whole time, and Taash is a literal child the whole game, despite apparently being in their early 20s? Taash specifically needed a better writer considering the sensitivty of their story. Davrin and Harding did their best to pull it back to the positive but not quite. Emmerich was a pleasant suprise though. Also, is anyone else getting a little sick of the big bads always throwing the Blight at us? In some new evolved manner. Can we please move past that.

I adore Veilguard. The story writing on this one was the best of the dragon age series. The way the lore tied together the history of what we know of the races was brilliant, and the finale was the best I've seen in any game for years. The inter character dialogue is lighter (but maybe on par with inquisition), and one companion was pretty cringe (but entirely avoidable so you don't have to suffer them if you ignore their sidequest). The facial animation on Rook was very good. There were horribly dark moments (darker than inquisition) The combat was banging. I had a fantastic time in this game. Infact, after the first big set piece with the wardens, I couldn't put it down.
