God that Dialogue... do we not get second or third passes in first drafts now? Wtf was that? It could be easily salvaged into something serviceable, if the writer was willing to ya know actually exercise their brains a little bit. At the moment it felt like characters talking to a wall rather than at each other. Also it's too bland, modern sounding, the conversation flow is a mess and doesn't offer anything close to the characterisation that the writer thinks it does. Like the first part of conversation breaks down into Character 1 ) Eat fruit before it spoils Character 2 ) Me want cookies Character 1 ) Everyone likes cookies Character 2 ) Okay me have fruit than? Me : WTF? How does saying everyone likes cookies just mean that character 2 would want to eat the fruit now? There was no argument in there for him to do that. Just because something is going to spoil doesn't mean someone will eat it? That's not enough to persuade someone, not even a child. Character 2 is a nothing burger and than it gets weirder by Character 3 joining in and saying wow you soft of heart? For what? Telling someone to eat fruit when they wanted to eat cookies? How did you reach that conclusion?

It kinda sounds like the actors each recorded their lines separately without proper direction and context and without enough coordination with the people rigging the 3D models. With the right tones of voice and expressions you could maybe make this seem sorta close to a real conversation. It's such a step down from DAO dialogue and characterization in every way.

Even if the upper management brought them in without any coercion, the consultants are still responsible for the end product, as is the studio itself, management included. I wanna say that if anyone on PC wants an old school open world RPG that’s fun to play; try out Gedonia. It’s $15 and made by one guy. He now has a small team and working on the sequel that has a demo and supposedly will have co-op. Gedonia is awesome in the skills. The different skills can work together like Nature magic changing your skeleton if a certain nature skill is active. I highly recommend it. Saves you a bunch of money, you’re supporting a great indie dev and it’s a fun game. Absolute win-win. Go ahead and put more recs if you wish!
