Not sure yet, there are some thematically compelling combos such as elf (likely dalish) veil jumper or Qunari crow (since the Qunari are at war with the crows). And while I think all factions will be important in the game, Grey Wardens are probably one of the most lore relevant (not to mention nostalgic) factions. I just wanna play all of them, really 😂

Being able to make a Qunari Grey Warden would be the perfect chance to recreate an old OC of mine, so I know what I'm doing for this game Not to mention from what I've heard they seem to be the faction for people who know the lore mostly from the games

This might just be the toughest character creation choice ever, but I'm torn between Lords of Fortune and Veiljumpers myself, perhaps slightly more inclined to the latter. Ancient Elven ruins and the Veil have always been super intriguing to me, and a faction that's all about exploring them sounds great.

My first Rook is either going to be a Mournwatch member or a Shadow Dragon, because, as silly as it sounds, I have already named these rooks, and I've decided how they look and who they are going to romance. Eventually, I will play all the factions, however. They all sound interesting.

I’m gonna try Antivan Crows, Grey Warden and then Shadow Dragons. For the crows path my personal canon is that Rook came from a noble tevinter family of mages but was kicked out as they weren’t able to use magic. Caught pickpocketing out on the streets they were recruited into the organization for their potential.

one thing to note about Lucanis. I believe his family name is pronounced in italian manner rather than spanish. (For spanish option i believe it would be Dellamuerte of Demuerte) Since Antiva is insipred/resembles the city of Venice in Italy

I wonder if Crow Rook will have a last name from one of the Eight Talon houses or if they'll be from a lower house. I'm assuming Dellamorte, Catori, De Riva, and Arainai are off the table. Kortez would be sick, same with Valisti or Balazar. I would kinda hate to have to be Nero though since I don't want my Crow associated with Bolivar, he's the worst LOL

That's what I'm hoping for! It would make sense, unless Crow Rook is from a minor house. But having one of the Talon names would so much cooler xD Yeah Bolivar sucks, but I honestly like the name Nero a lot so if that turns out to be our Crow Rook's name I wouldn't complain haha

None of these appeal to me, but I think it will depend on how detailed you can make your backstory beyond the faction. If the Shadow Dragons allow for a Tevinter soldier backstory before joining the Shadow Dragons, then I can get on board with that. Otherwise it will have to be a Mourn Watch soldier. If that doesn't work out, then I might try Shadow Dragon mage, and if not that, then Lords of Fortune assassin perhaps. One thing I will say about the factions though, is that each one seems to accommodate a Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor playthrough. Meaning the former protags can be substituted for the new protag, and their factions line up. Wardens for the Hero, Lords of Fortune for Hawke, and Veil Jumpers for the Inquisitor.

It would be great if you could actually make the Warden the Hero of Ferelden. That wouldn't be hard to do because obviously the Hero didn't have a voice actor. It'd just need a few special lines of dialogue when he meets characters like Morrigan.

@@DavidM_10 Nowadays it would probably only require two male and two female voice actors, each with their own British or American speech pattern. From there you could just use AI to make them sound like each Warden voice using old audio files.

The Crows, Lords of Fortune, and Shadow Dragons sound like my choice! I'm not going to do a Grey Warden because that was a major focus of Origins, and I've already played almost all of those playthroughs.

Going to go for Shadow Dragons at first I think. Originally was thinking about being a Tevinter noble who is born to a noble family but doesen't have magic and then through circumstances ends up going to the Crows, but since BioWare seems to have set last names for each protagonist now was thinking of just keeping him in Tevinter and probably a Crow will be from Antiva like we've already seen with the Shadow Dragon Rook being from Minrathous. So Shadow Dragons it is.

Romancing Harding Female Dwarf Crow who looks like Sophitia from Soul Calibur (Or Beatrix from Zom 100, or Meru from Legend of Dragoon), Rogue=either Saboteur or Duelist. Romancing Assan Female Human Shadow Dragon who looks like Touka from Tokyo Ghoul (Or Reze from Chainsaw Man, or Shionne from Tales of Arise), Mage=either Evoker or Death Caller. Romancing Lucanis Male Qunari Fortune Lord who looks like Goliath from Gargoyles (Or Kongol from Legend of Dragoon, or, Kratos from God of War) Warrior=either Reaper or Slayer. Romancing Bellara.

I know others will choose other factions for lore gathering purposes, but..... I'm 100% going Gray Warden. There is currently no other faction that has you DRINK THE BLOOD OF YOUR ENEMIES SO AS TO GAIN THE POWER TO KILL A GOD(S)! That is the most metal thing to do in anything, either in games or IRL ( fun fact, there use to be a unit of US Marines that made new unit members DRINK COBRA BLOOD). I am 100% getting down with the sickness, again! IN WAR, VICTORY IN PEACE, VIGILANCE IN DEATH, SACRIFICE

I am very torn between Veil Jumpers, Shadow Dragons and possibly Lords of Fortune. Veil Jumpers are so very much my alley, but I want something different from my typical elven mage character. Right now, I have this idea for a dwarf Veil Jumper, a Qunari Shadow Dragon and a elven Lord of Fortune lady just living her pirate life (probably escaped from an elvenage for a better life, until everything happened). I really like this idea of a dwarf being interested in the Veil Jumpers, perhaps because they are experiencing some weird stuff happening to them (like being suddenly magic-prone, or something like a Valta case) and just wanting it GONE and being NORMAL again, because dreams are fucking scary how can you live with that stuff? And I just love the paradox of a qunari fighting for freedom in Tevinter.

Voor mij zijn de Grey Wardens overduidelijk de interessanteste factie want we weten dat de Evanuris heel veel met de Blight te maken hebben; dus hoe gaan de Grey Wardens zich gedragen tegenover hen? Kunnen ze de Grey Wardens controleren door hun verband met de Blight? Ik ben heel erg geïnteresseerd in de oorsprong van de Blight...hopelijk krijgen we antwoorden maar ik ben zeker dat ik met de Grey Wardens begin want met hen gaan zeker sommige van de interessanteste dingen gebeuren.

Sort of! They are backgrounds that you can pick for your Rook in the character creator. While I don't think there will be a playable bit for them, the faction that you pick will open up special dialogue with other characters and characters that are part of that same faction. So it's not like Origins, but it sounds like it will matter more than your background did in Inquisition

I'm disappointed in the fact that you are forced to choose a faction. Sure, pick one later on as you develop your PC, but before? Can you pick one and then ignore what you are supposed to be? Become a Crow and say you've never assassinated anyone?
