My primary picks to choose between at the moment: *Antivan Crows* - I'd love to explore the deeper culture and reality of their role and lives. They're flashy, sexy, and deadly - but I imagine there's a lot more going on behind the scenes that makes plenty of room for depth and dramatic situations. Especially knowing the threats Antiva's currently dealing with. *The Mourn Watch* - A society where mages are considered a venerated and necessary part of one's culture, but not in the same skewed way as Tevinter. I love the depth with which they delve into death and what lies beyond the world that other people see. *Shadow Dragons* - This is something I've always wanted - a society inside the Tevinter Imperium wanting to bring positive change without vilifying mages altogether. I'd love to play a highborn mage who believes in social equality and plays an active role in achieving it for for those who were born less fortunate. *Veil Jumpers* - The Fade is still full of mystery, power, and magic. I'd love to learn more about it, and those who have dedicated their lives to dealing with it and the consequences it's had on the world hold great interest for me. I love my scholar and explorer characters.

My favorite ideas so far: *Dwarven Veil Jumper.* Nerdy, Dagna-like about elven history, using her magic resistance to help bolster the others in her faction. *Qunari Grey Warden.* Probably Saarebas. I want to stick out like a sore thumb and make everyone do a double take. Elven Mortalitasi. Living in Nevarra, I think she'd anticipate respect from humans despite her race, and like feeling a part of something. *Human Shadow Dragon Mage.* I don't usually like playing humans, but this is a concept that could make me enjoy them. I also love detective work, so grrr, Neve is my rival on that playthrough! Bring back the DA2 relationship system. 😂

@@Nagram_ I was more worried about archdemons since we need Wardens to kill them permanently, so not only I worried about Davrin being destined to die in game, but also if BioWare won't be trolling and bring back say Allistair or Anders to help kill these. However you are absolutely right, whoever drank the well might get controlled to defend old gods secrets, we just can't fully trust Mythal here.

The Crows excite me the most. They've always been portrayed as this evil oranization that manipulates from the shadows. I can't wait to see another side of them. If I don't pick them for my first playthrough then it'll definitely be the Shadow Dragons. Might as well jump in head first to the new region and pick the faction that will be most active within it.

Veil Jumper for sure. A bunch of scholar-adventurers studying ancient lore, reality warping, artifacts, and the mysteries of the Fade without the all colonizer/grave robber problems. Absolutely. Sign me up. Plus I want to play Dalish and it just really fit that idea nicely. My second choice was the Shadow Dragons, cuz abolitionist resistance fighter.

I wonder if your romance option will also play a significant role here. Like if you want to romance Lucanis you’re better off having a Crows background. I wonder..

I'm playing a Mage and romancing Lucanis, so I'm definitely anticipating some playful acknowledgments there of the fact he's a mage-killer. I wouldn't be surprised if faction has some influence on flavor like you're suggesting.

LOL ... Blackwall is the absolute worst example of a Grey Warden--because he wasn't one. Crazy twist, wasn't it!?:-) I'm torn between Veil Jumper (love Elvhen artifacts) and the Antivan Crows. Leaning toward the Crows, though ... because black leather. Add that to body tattoos and I'm giddy. LOL

He was basically still trying to live up to the ideals of being a Warden even if he didn’t have any of the Wardens’ abilities, as he puts it “At the heart of it all a Warden is is a promise. To protect others, even at the cost of your own life”. Besides if he was a Warden then we wouldn’t be able to have the option to take him with us during the final battle against Cory, and they did have the option to make him a Warden after the events of the main story as seen in Trespasser so he can still be used as an example of the Grey Warden faction due to a technicality.

Technically blackwall was a warden recruit just for some reason he didnt go take his joining when the real blackwall died.

@@garycannon4644 he explains when you question him about it in prison that he couldn’t go to the Wardens after the real Blackwall died because he had no proof that he had been recruited nor that he didn’t kill him himself, plus he was still a wanted man so making the trip to any of the Wardens’ areas of influence would’ve been very risky for him. He was still able to pass as a Warden thanks to the bits of information about the Wardens that the real Blackwall taught him before his death, he grew a beard and the rest was history. Hence why he’s grateful to the Inquisitor should they decide to give him to Warden custody (after the main story that is) since he’s more or less getting the chance to fulfill the real Blackwall’s wishes.

Grey Wardens aren't for helping people, they are for destroying the Blight no matter what is the cost. Sacrifice an entire nation? A real Grey Warden would do that if it meant stopping the Blight.

I typically go mage in the DA games. Oddly enough I think I’m going to go for the Lords of Fortune on my first playthrough. I think we’ll be treading on a lot of new ground in Veilguard, so the premise of playing a traveling merc that is a bit disconnected from any particular place seems like a good way to explore the world. Apart from that I think a Qunari mage Shadow Dragon, and a Elven Crow rogue would be great too. If I remember right Tevinter and the Qun have been warring for a while, so playing a Qunari that is a tevinter idealist could have some interesting story implications.

Grey Warden, of course. I have to get back to my origins in Thedas. 2nd playthrough is dependent on if we're able to select a type of elf, Alienage or Dalish, if we're able to be an elf from an alienage, I'll go Shadow Dragons, since slavery highly impacts their lives. If Dalish, I'll go Veil Jumpers to lean into and go all "Elfy" as Sera would say. I've not seen anything regarding this though. Alienage elves or Dalish or Orzammar Dwarves or Cartel. I guess we'll have to keep an eye out for that info.

It was revealed by the devs somewhere else, but basically dalish vs city elf depends on what faction you choose as well as dialogue choices (probably informing your character beliefs on the matter) Likely the same with dwarves too, being a surface dwarf or not, but that hasn’t been mentioned at all.

First off great video. I'm probably going to rely on multiple playthroughs to try out all of them but first play will be special. Soo My heart still is with the Grey Warde s I'm interested if DAV will answer those unanswered threads about the Calling. It was touched upon all the way back in DAO- what happened with the Warden's quest in the West for a cure. Later Shadow Dragons for local flavor. But after researching and reflection, only time will tell but truthfully hand me the damn cup.

Shadow Dragons were the faction/type of protagonist I thought we were getting when Trespasser teased us going to the Imperium. They seem like a good first pick, but I’ve always wanted to play as a Crow.

I hadn't watched anything on this til your vid, but this gives me Origin vibes. I loves Origin because of the different starting stories you got with each, not just the differing races. Granted Dwarf is my fav...and the only game I couldn't play was usual Dwarf was DA2. But I'll be playing my typical Dwarf in this...but a lot of the factions sound good and I'll be doing multiple playthroughs. I'll probably start as either a Gray Warden for Nostalgia from the first game or a Shadow Dragon. Tough call....

First Playthrough ? I think I will be elf female Lord of Fortune, I have some idea for more adventurous type of character. More sassy and they seem the type for this type of character. Second Mortalitassi (human woman) no doubt, as I always loved necromancy in RPG's so if one does it finally - I'll take it. Third is Antivan Crow - gender depends on who I want to romance, since I always liked idea of them (plus Zevran was my favourite in Origins) and I often play rogues anyways, so assassin it is. I am tempted from gameplay reveal to do warrior though, as it looks more akin to combat of ESO for my latest dragonknight redguard there. So if this will be that good, I might suffer through making 4th world state for just this. I guess Gray Warden would be most logical for warrior .. as I have no clue about Shadow Dragons yet.

Not a greywarden for me i've sacrifice enough companion & main characters for the sake of story (Ferelden's hero, Sten, Zevran, Anders, Fenris, Hawke, Iron Bull... and i would have/will sacrifice my inquistor if need be) So yeah maybe it's time to have someone who will survive ? But i don't count on it... i think Rook can Spihon the dreadwolf powers... My rook my sacrifice him self for the greater good and become the dreadwolf. Shit i love writting tragedies.
