Because people have to know back in 97 Dragon Ball Z wasn't even on TV the only way that anyone ever found out about it was through video game magazines or through this game I kid you not I found out about Dragon Ball Z through this game that's where I first found out about it that's why it holds a very huge sentiment

I think after Frieza, Cell was the greatest villain in the series. He was the villain who was more than just a "lets destroy the world and beat everyone up". He forced the Z Fighters to engage him in a tournament to see who really was the strongest...and this was a villain that was so powerful that Goku could not beat him alone...he needed Gohan's help. Gohan fulfilled his purpose of in theory being stronger than Goku. But as always...Goku won.
