If they weren’t planning on killing them from the get go then they are all literally idiots Besides, the Z fighters always have the habit of thinking an enemy is defeated and not making sure. Yamcha got snuck because he put the saibaman down and was like “we won guys!!”

No, they aren't related. Turles explains this by saying "Most low-class warriors like us look alike." Which I've always interpreted as "Life as a low class saiyan is super hard, and thus mass inbreeding was required at some point for survival - resulting in the low class being filled with a super limited gene pool and defective power levels, ensuring the genes like Bardock/Turles/Goku's hair stay in the low class." That isn't canon, but that's just how I envision it happening, because that makes sense on all fronts.
