Address the elephant in the room dude, this game is already looking dull. The story is a slide show for the most part, the story is rushed, the facial animation looks weird, the characters clothes look odd for the most part. The only accurate thing here is the gameplay.

Eh, it’s a bit jank at times. It looks like a pretty simple automatic process, opening their mouths wider when the audio is louder. They even messed up here at 4:46 where you can see Goku mouthing Raditz’s laugh.

In order to explain to you how the story mode works, it is an episode of a specific event and not a linked story in the sense that the next episode (the Saiyan episode will be separate from what happened in the previous episode and the Frieza episode will be separate from the previous episodes)

CERO's probably partly to blame. I'm pretty sure the game's targeting a CERO A rating (all ages, equivalent to ESRB E-E10+, PEGI 7). They're very strict nowadays when it comes to that kind of violence, _far_ stricter than they were when the previous games came out (which also got CERO A ratings). EDIT: Kakarot had a CERO B (ages 12 and up, equivalent to ESRB T/E10+ and directly equivalent to PEGI 12), so including that probably would've bumped it up. Bandai Namco is likely trying to keep the age rating consistent with the other Sparking/BT games in Japan, which means cuts to blood/gore have to be made.

Props to the cinematography director. I've seen this scene redone in like a dozen games. First time it felt fresh. Also really cool to see dragon ball with the high res backgrounds and assets. ngl tho, 00:21 - 00:57, Krillin, Roshi, and Bulma could've used some more movement. Especially Krillin's face. A lot of the animation elsewhere is surprisingly clean though, like mo-cap or something with some of the subtleties.

Man, this is a really cool addition to the game and it made you think about the ramifications of certain acts. If Goku had survived, he would definitely try to find a way to get stronger because he knew (or had an idea) how strong the next enemies would be. Maybe he would use the hyperbolic time chamber, train Gohan himself or with Piccolo. As fans know the history of DBZ, it's something new that looks like it will be interesting

The plot twist is that shortly after this scene, your time patroller shows up and makes sure Goku sees King Kai anyway 😂 All in all though a story mode with branching paths and different lengths for each character kinda gives me the Budokai 3 story mode vibes but greatly expanded upon.

with what multiple what ifs, like on raditz fight alone you had the option to not go with piccolo and having krillin join goku instead (though piccolo and roshi follow them too so it becomes 4 v 1), and then this what if goku survives the fight. There is many more on the later saga too. So the story mode is somewhat new at the end of the day. besides super saga storyline that is completely new on tenkaichi series that is.

Dragonball is a story about how characters grow through adversity. From the early onset of the original Dragonball series, Goku grows the most whenever he's faced by opponents several times stronger than he is. If Goku was not killed in the Raditz fight, he would not have been pushed in the trials of snake way and then onto King Kai's gravity and learn Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb. The outcome of Goku not dying would be much worse. This isn't a good what-if. This is like asking "What if Goku never met Bulma and learned about the Dragonballs?"

Aww, man, I was hoping for a what-if Raditz story, like from DB R&R even thought it more of fan story and not at all canon, I was still hoping they give him more of the spotlights at least.
