If cell saw how strong vegeta got in this scenario, he would’ve tried to finish him quickly. The martial arts tournament was thrown purely out of hubris for how badly he beat down trunks and vegeta, it was an ego move. Cell pretended to have a warriors spirit but if he knew there was a chance he could lose he would full send on vegeta right away or escalate to destroying the planet

Gohan was way stronger than anyone else at that moment. And it wasnt only Android 16, he was seeing all his friends getting killed in front of him. On the other hand Vegeta just started to care a bit about trunks, he never really fought for anything other than himself up to that point.

Its also 16 was the ONLY fighter on that field who understood Gohan. All the others had been warriors, soldiers or martial artists their whole lives. Fighting was who they were. Even Future Trunks had been eager to fight with Gohan and had spent even more of his life in a life or death struggle. But not for 16. Thats why he could connect.

His every transformation always had potential to reach such unique hights but until Tournament of Power he was follwoing after Goku to keep up with his power. Since Vegeta cought up with Goku he achived Royal Blue transformation and later on Ultra Ego so it seems unlocking Royal Super Saiyan is possible. It would make for nice pure saiyans trio - angelic Goku, legendary Broly and royal Vegeta.

At this point getting the W and proving better than Goku would surely boosted Vegeta pride but also he would realize himself becoming hero of Earth and with Trunks and Bulma with Trunks he have something to protect, and considering Vegeta outburst after Trunks death he already was on a road towards his redemption.

No, their power levels were way behind Goku. Their potential was way lower than Gohan. Gohan consistently becomes the strongest in the series with just days-weeks of focused training, with large breaks before and after.

He’d most likely get stomped by cell or have a far more difficult time than Gohan did bare minimum. After 7+ years of training, plus achieving SSJ2 himself, Vegeta still thought 11yo SSJ2 Gohan was stronger. There’s simply something different about Gohan’s specific version of SSJ2. IMO It’s less about the form, and more about an expression of his power. In other words, at least for Gohan, SSJ2/Ultimate/Beast are all the same “thing”. Just manifested in different ways in different levels. On top of that, there’s a trend of the more he steps away from saiyan based transformations, the stronger he gets
