Make a long review dude, Super sucks. It's incoherent, inconsistent to the original series and itself and has the pungent Toei stink all over it. Too much Goku, useless side characters, bad pacing and a total disregard for how things work.

Look at how the plot went. Goku was needed to stop Beerus. Goku stopped Frieza. Goku won the tournament. Every problem was resolved by Goku. You can get technical and say that he lost, but he was still the hero in each case.

Omega2040 The main character is the hero of the show? That's crazy man. Just like he was against, King Piccolo, Piccolo Jr, The Red Ribbon, Buu, Frieza, The Saiyans, and everything in GT. Also, he didn't stop Frieza, Frieza blew the planet up. Goku failed, he also got wrecked by a laser. After taking a senzu bean, Whis gave him another chance. He didn't win the Tournament. He lost 2 times, and it was implied... well stated, that hit was holding back all of his lethal techniques. Vegeta was the star of that tournament.

It really should have just started with the Universe 6 arc. While it wasn't great tbh, those first 2 arcs were just tedious to sit through and the movies were much better (they didn't even explain some of the big questions we had from the movies, namely how the heck Super Saiyan Blue works). I am really enjoying the Black saga so far though, it actually feels like it's taking itself seriously now instead of just kinda escalating everything. "LOOK! Goku's a God now!" "LOOK! Vegeta's a God now!" "LOOK! Frieza's a God now!" "LOOK! There are a dozen universes with tonnes of Gods and people are are strong as Gods now!" LOOK! There's this guy who's above all of the Gods and he wants all the other Gods to beat the crap out of each other!" So far, the Black Goku saga is going for a mystery angel and I'm enjoying that more than "Now Goku/Vegeta have to fight this dude". Honestly, I prefer GT more (never really hated it, just thought it was ok), but Super can still prove itself. Right now though, it's quite lacking

Damn, I agree with everything you said to be honest. And the art and animation quality of the series definitely don't help either. This Future Trunks arc has been the most interesting so far but everything else is pretty lackluster.

No hate... but at least GT tried to make a good roster of new characters to the universe. Nonetheless, I will still give the series a go after i'm done with the shows i'm bingeing now. Good to see you still uploading Omega, I've been having a nostalgic DB binge because of Super and have been rewatching a lot of your older DBZ videos lol. And I kinda agree with you on Super, it's been a letdown tbh. The animation more often than not has been poor, wasting 27 eps on movie retellings was dumb (although the Goku vs Beerus fight in Super was better) and it's the Goku and Vegeta show all over again just like GT. But I have found the Goku Black saga interesting thus far, Black has been a really entertaining villain so far and the animation has improved (just look at all the fights Black's been in so far) so right now I'm cautiously optimistic.

Omega2040 Yeah it's REALLY jarring lol. Especially when you see younger Trunks with his purple hair standing right next to him! At 1st I tried to headcanon it thinking "some people's hair colour change as grow older, maybe the same happened to Trunks". But nope full retcon, future Trunks has now had blue hair since forever. Maybe blue haired Trunks is the drawing/direction Toriyama gave Toei and they didn't dare question him lol. He's given Trunks blue hair before but he also did think #18's hair was purple during the production of BoG smh.

The pacing since the end of the movie retellings has been great. I think it was a huge mistake wasting 27 episodes of those. I've really enjoyed this series since episode 28.

I agree that Super is definitely lacking something, a certain charm that DBZ had. I don't like that Super has continued the trend of pushing everyone aside in the same way that GT did, but Z appeared to be heading in that direction anyway. The fights in super thus far lack the choreography, sophistication, and epicness of those seen in DBZ, that's for sure. Overall I agree that Super is lack luster, although I prefer it ever so slightly to GT, and there's a part of me that is happy to see these characters being drawn anew.

It has all of DBZ's flaws multiplied, and none of the charm of the original series. And now that we have one, fans are just kinda compromising with whatever they can get. Hopefully they can step it up in the future. As a huge DB fan, I am highly disappointed.

I stopped watching the anime a long time ago. It's garbage.It's clear, to me at least, that Toei do not care about Dragon Ball anymore. It's just a money maker to them. They put their B-team writers on it, with their C-team animators, and produce a turd loosely based on some shit Toriyama wrote for them. Been loving the manga, though.

I agree. The manga has been much more enjoyable. The pacing is better, though since its monthly it has been moving a bit too fast to try and stay near the anime I guess. The way the Hit fight went in the manga was so much better. The logic behind the fight made much more sense. It is weird how the two fights were nothing alike though.

To me Super didn't get good until the Tournement saga. It's not as good as Z but it's not that bad. I just hate how they ruined Vegeta's character by making him dance for Berus.... I totally understand you Omega.... but you can't deny that some episodes in Super were actually good

I would agree with you on the Beerus and Freeza arc (although the Beerus saga was ok), but the Future Trunks arc so far has been what I wanted GT to be back in the day. Actually, it's far better than what I thought Toei was capable of doing. Yeah. in some cases it might scream fan fiction all over the place, but that's why I love it so much: it's for the fans. The pacing is really dreadful alright. There's no excuse for those "fillers" every now and then if the anime is not based on an outside source. But you know, they gotta extend it as much as they can so everybody can make the money. I wish you went into more details in your thoughts, rather than just "I don't like it". Maybe in the future?

I suppose I could make a list of all the plot problems that I have, but seems a bit overkill. Though I can list some since you are interested. Trunks has blue hair even though Kid Trunks has purple hair. The timeline being presented in Super is very hard to follow, I mean how long is it between events? What is up with Gohan in general? Why was Hit's power up in the anime so nonsensical? What was the point of doing the two movie arcs in the first place? Basically stuff like that. It all seems to come back to poor writing though.

As a fan I enjoy it; as an observer it's ehh. While there are some things I like, and others that get a big smile on my face, it's not perfect. It has ups and downs and generally I too hope it gets better as for right now it's literally just started to mildly pique my intrest.

I disagree, I think it's been a very fun series. The only complaints I really have are the movie recaps and the janky animation so far. The Future Trunks arc so far could end up being one of my favorite DB arcs. Look at Goku's record in Super too. He couldn't beat Beerus. He only beat Frieza because of the redo and he lost to Hit. The only villain he's been able to stand up to so far is Black and by the looks of it that won't be the same next time. Keep in mind we're only on the second proper story arc of Super and there's still plenty of times for things to change. I honestly don't know how you can say it's worse then GT. GT's pacing was even worse with stretches of literally nothing happening, the main trio were 10x more annoying then anyone out of Super, Goku saved the day every goddamn time (After jobbing a lot first mind you, SSJ4 is the kind of losing every battle until Goku gets charged up with everyones ki.) and it has that really weird art style that makes it look like a bootleg DBZ. The only thing GT has over Super in my opinion is the OST. It might just be be, but I'm having more fun watching Piccolo being an Uncle and Krillin's shenanigans then I ever enjoyed them in Z. I've always loved them but seeing what they are like now is way more satisfying to me then watching them job like they always did in Z. I just wish others like Tenshinhan got the chance to do some wacky stuff occasionally. I do think the movie recaps were terrible outside of the Ginyu stuff, but since then I think Super has been a pretty decent series. I know you don't view it as cannon, but seeing as Toriyama's ideas are behind it, you might end up being disappointed in the long run. Mind you I also think the manga is better. I'm also used to watching Toei's 50+ episode shit so maybe I'm just used to the pacing. But I do think its a better series then you're giving it credit for. It's the most fun I've had in DB since... probably DB.

Honestly things have kind of fallen apart since Z ended anyway. I enjoyed GT but mostly for a nostalgic trip (and I don't care what anyone says, the introduction of Super Saiyan 4 is worth the price alone XD) and from what I've seen of Super, I'm not really that invested. :\ Also I finally just watched the new Frieza movie, and that was a dick move by the creative team to take away Vegeta's kill. I would have to disagree on the Goku always saving the day point, the only fight he has won without help so far is against Botamo. Sure he killed Frieza, but that was only after Vegeta beat him to a pulp. Even in the tournament he lost to thoroughly lost to Hit. However I agree that others characters such as Gohan, Goten and Piccolo should have more of an effect on the story.

The current arc is pretty much the most interesting thing to happen in Super... and of course they dumb it down with slow, dull pacing, and annoying retcons such as Future Trunks having Blue Hair now for no reason. Gohan's pretty much confirmed to be a useless family man from here on out too, which contradicts him wanting to train more after dealing with Golden Frieza. Not even Toriyama likes the DBS anime. Toei just messed everything up by rushing the series out without any proper planning, and as a result the episode quality suffers because the staff is also busy working on several other Toei shows at the same time. It's all a hot steaming mess. I just consider the new movies and the DBS manga the 'true' Dragon Ball Super. They were just handled so much better and they don't drag things out.

I have disagree on a lot of fronts. Firstly, Goku was always the hero, the sole exception being the Cell saga. I really don't see many characters being dummed down, they behave how one would expect. The only problems with the show are the animation and the pacing (perfectly valid if those are enough to turn you off from the show). Most of the stuff people have problems with are either problems that have always plagued the franchise or are explained or are going to be explained later on. I do agree that in general the manga is better though. So if you have to chose one or the other, stick with the manga. Overall its A LOT better than GT

Just like how everyone gave Goku the energy to become a god, Vegeta beat the crap out of Frieza before Goku had to kill him after the rewind. Piccolo and Vegeta fought off the Universe 6 team, etc. Most things have been explained or in the case of Black, will be soon. How the Universes work, how Ssj Blue works, etc.

The pacing is slow you're kidding right the universal tournament was like only 6 episodes long. The future Trunks arc pacing has been fine they're actually taking their time and not rushing things through. The BOG arc took forever but I still thought it was better than the movie. The weakest link is the ROF arc.

You're making no sense Ultimate Spoopynator lmao. Raging SSJ2 Vegeta was a simple power boost that barely even made Beerus flinch and it's scale was simply close to SSJ3 but no more. The scaling goes by: SSGSS Kaioken x10 Goku > Hit/SSGSS Goku/SSGSS Vegeta > Base Goku/Base Vegeta. Vegeta was beaten because he wasn't aware of the time-leap and his vital points were hit before he could make a plan, otherwise SSGSS Vegeta's speed is far above Hit.

Vegeta had to deal with heavier hits than Goku. Hit did not hold back against Vegeta as much as he did against Base Goku. And Base Goku took far less hits than Vegeta did. The thing is you believe that 10% of Beerus = 10% of Goku which is wrong. For all you know, he went 10% on his own will and by the way, he mentioned Vegeta being highly skilled but he lacks the power to match him. 10% of Beerus is >>>>>>> Raging Vegeta. Also let's assume Beerus's power level is leagues above Goku Let's say Beerus has 8 megatrillion plvl. Goku has 500 trillions plvl in SSB. What makes you think that adding 10% of Beerus wouldn't be adding 800 trillion to his plvl count? For all you know Beerus's 100% would smash Goku in. Kaioken would merely make Goku reach the megatrillion league. X10= 5 mega trillion. Does that match Beerus in any way? None of these powerlevels are officials, they are examples. You can't compare Beerus's percentage to fucking Goku's. 100% of Goku is legitimately 60% of Beerus. That means 10% would be 6% of Beerus. He's leagues above him. You're also confusing Raw power with Beerus's abilities. Beerus is a God of Destruction, he's far more powerful and is able to erase beings above him. His technique is fearsome on top of being massively powerful.

You're going haywire based on the fact that Beerus mentioned Vegeta forcing him to use 10 % of his power. What makes you think that 10 % was necessary? Beerus wanted to end things fast and not waste time with his toys. Again, CAN YOU DO basic math? Kaioken X10 isn't a multiplier based on the percentage of the power Goku has, it's a multiplier based on the POWER-LEVEL he has. Otherwise the very author himself would have said so, thus numbers and powerlevels wouldn't matter because everything would be calculated in percentage. That's not how Kaioken works. IT doesn't bring forth 600 % of Goku's power-level. IT brings form 10X Goku's power-level, which is then progressively calculated into percentages. The same goes for Akira's rating based on BoG. People like you often confused rating/percentage and multiply them for no reasons. Goku is a 6, Beerus is a 10 and Whis is a 14. Goku SSB Kaioken X10 isn't going to make him a 16. It's a rating, not a power-scaling. The rating is based on the percentage of power used. Goku used his full power while Beerus used 60 % of his. Beerus's 60 % was able to destroy Goku's 100 %. Let's say SSB adds 10 % to it. Goku's 100 % becomes Beerus's 70 %. (Btw if we follow manga logic, SSB is a X50 multiplier, yet Beerus deemed it as weaker than Golden Frieza.) Golden Frieza was stronger than Goku SSB and yet feared Beerus so much. Why the "surprised/fearsome" look? And I called you a virgin at maths because you're multiplying percentages.. Let's face it. When you calculate the percentage of a promotion, a price decrease from its base price, you don't do 100 %= 60$ therefor 100%-30% = 30$. No. You simply do not meddle percentages with multipliers, subtractions or additions. The Kaioken X10's multiplier isn't applied on the percentage. It's applied on the Power Goku has. Kaioken x10 SSB Goku = ?% of Beerus's power. It's unknown because we have no way of calculating it, we have to check out the character's remarks. And Beerus was surprised and annoyed at the same time because he wanted to stomp Goku at his best, he wasn't fearing it. What makes you believe KaiokenX10 was enough? It's not 600 % of Goku's power, otherwise Goku would destroy Zeno and anyone along. 600 % puts him way above anyone in the darn series. 600% of Goku's SSB power implies that Goku has SSB over 6 times. Meaning that he's over SSJ6 (And that's fanfiction garbage). IT JUST doesn't make sense in any way. You're overwanking Kaioken and using it the wrongest way possible. Kaioken x10 SSB isn't 60 % x 10, it's Power-level x10 = ?% of Beerus's powerlevel. That's why I came up with a simple example: Goku could be at 1 megatrillion for all we know. Beerus could be a 20 megatrillions in his 100 % form. That would put Goku far closer to Beerus and Beerus would have a more "fun" fight in his regard. Goku would blow up from using 600 % of his power. If Goku is at 100 000 000 trillion in power-level using his SSB form. 600 % would put him at a level beyond combining SSJ3 and Super Saiyan God. 600 % just doesn't make sense in any case. The fact that Hit was able to keep up with him afterwards just revolves around what I just said. Goku x10 is a 10 % increase in power. It's a 10x increase in Power-level. 10 % increase in percentage. And the whole show revolves around Goku and Vegeta surpassing Beerus to begin with, seriously, why would he randomly get a power-boost that would go beyond him? The worst part is there's no maths implied. I'm sorry for even talking "maths" in any case. We have no numbers, we have literally jack shit to base ourselves on. Beerus could be suppressing his power on a bigger scale than anyone has ever done. The same for Whis. We just have no elements to base our "plot-hole" on. Kaioken x10 SSB Goku isn't surpassing Beerus any time soon judging by the characters' remark. That's all you need to know, and no plot-hole is implied AS long as we weren't given a PRECISE explanation on the power-gap between Goku and BEerus. Giving us a rating doesn't help. Because we don't know how much power SSB has added over SSG, nor how much Kaioken added despite the x10 multiplier because we have no base to work on.

Monaka was the one who defeated Hit, I know Goku was the reason Hit let Monaka win but still if Monaka wasn't on the team and Goku lost then Hit would've been the overall winner but he wasn't since Monaka beat him. That doesn't count as a Goku win. He has Copy Vegeta, Golden Frieza (with help) and Beerus he didn't really defeat but I see your point there he did end up defending the planet with that fight. Goku in Z defeated many more enemies than that. Nappa, Burter, Frieza, Yakon, Kid Buu for a few examples. I don't see why it matters tho because goku is the main protagonist of both Z and Super so it makes sense that the protagonist often takes down the antagonists

Super is a mixed bag. Its best hour was the Black Saga-truly a masterpiece. Everything else, well, there's equal shares good and bad. The pacing isn't as dragged out as Z, but it can get random at times. And there's certainly a good share of WTF moments, like how Goku was actually INJURED by a bullet in EP77. At that point, if a Halo ODST or a Fallout NCR Veteran Ranger showed up with a high-caliber anti-tank sniper rifle, they'd have a good chance of killing Goku. Kind of a far cry from the retardedly OP guy we all knew.

really awesome review overall! personally I do like this show overall but it feels like a sitcom most of the time! when you get to the action stuff it's really awesome I think! like truly amazing! I much prefer than GT because it felt like a rehash of the original dragon ball with goku being turned back into a kid. you might as well rewatch the original. just my thoughts overall.
