Some of the most relaxed fighters I've seen are the Muay Thai fighters. When they kick they kick straight through without holding back or snapping back. I don't know much about Martial Arts but from I've seen that they throw some devastating blows for their size. Thai men tend to be on the smaller leaner side but wow do they have crazy strength.
@oxtheunlikelycontemplator26823 жыл бұрын
Maxick who gets a mention near the end of the video said he was never heavier than I think 155 lbs. He was one of the first people to successfully clean and jerk with double body weight or more. It was around four hundred lbs. And he claimed much of his strength came from muscle control That is to say ability to relax muscles antagonistic to the movements he wanted to perform while keeping the necessary muscles fully engaged. He was also known for lifting men forty pounds heavier than himself overhead with one hand ten times while not spilling beer from the mug he would hold in his other hand.

They do specialized training for martial arts and have different bodys, long muscles that relax when in rest position, not circular, no hyperthropy, or poping veins. The Bioneer has a great body and physical condition and strength but this is not for martial arts or sports where you throw punches or kicks. Big muscles and muscular resistance training are not good overall for the above said sports. What you need is potency, power, not strenght and you need alactic anaerobic resistance not anaerobic lactic resistance. The harder and faster you hit or kick, the more muscles you lose, and the other way around.

Very cool video. I want to pitch in: Muscle does not generate power. Power comes generally from the push off the ground directed through the hips along with the smooth coordination of the joints. If someone has a lot of muscle mass there could be extra power just from throwing around the weight of their body, but any contraction of the muscles takes away from the transference of energy into the target. Size does have an effect, but speaking of the maximize power output for any given body type, the smoother they can move the better for them to reach their max potential output. Joint coordination ultimately has greater power potential, but it is harder to understand on the surface than muscular training. Takes more time to learn

@DomFortress3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is why muscle size has a diminishing returns when it comes to striking power and the subsequent technique requirements. When I choose powerlifting to condition my muscles for optimizing my kickboxing, I made a point not to train for competitive powerlifting as maximizing my one rep max. Instead I train for heart rate variability and in a fasted state, so that my energy output can be consistent in a state of ketosis.

Some of those concepts I learned them in Karate. Many people think (modern) karate is not suitable for real defense, and they are mostly right, but there is more to karate than that. Some concepts of karate are common in many martial arts, including mma, and also there are some that used to be only highlighted in karate, probably now better known in other styles. Some paths of strentgh impact in karate are highly interesting. In old karate they also use some weights with lever action and for gripping strentgh that can be a full body workout.

He is bulked & lean AF in that, and his endurance & power do not seem to be brought into the equation. If would seem to me that there is a "Ceiling" of accumulated mass you want as a martial artist; a sweet-spot where there is less muscle to fatigue but enough muscle to generate adequate force. Probably due to the loss of intense contractions (the foundation of martial power). Your comments on Chi were part of a wonderful observation.

The bench press (done in more of a powerlifting style) actually involves total body tension and leg drive. So even though it is predominantly an upper body movement (pecs, deltoids, triceps, and lats for stabilisation), the lower body (glutes, quads and hamstrings) are actually being used as well. Nice video though, keep up the amazing work!

I train clients in MMA, and punching is not about pushing, but about pulling the shoulder (snapping back) quickly and keeping the punching hand loose until the moment you make an impact. So rather than the punching movement with the band, it would be better to pull back with the non-punching arm. Anyways, just my 2 cents. Great informative video!

Thanks for the video man. I love Dragon Ball and it is one of the two cartoons that have stuck with me throughout the entirety of my life. It also inspires me anytime I feel like giving up in my training. I wish I knew a proper way to train myself with my two dumbbells(23lbs), kettlebell(25lbs) and B.O.B (full body).

Awesome content. Quality over quantity. And with just a touch of nerd. Keep going! It would be cool if you could do a bodyweight + resistance bands workout as well.
