RIGHT????? NOBODY ever calls DBZ out for that!!! The DBZ writers were like "let's just fuck up our own canon, people are too stupid to notice." They actually did it with the whole Super Saiyan Thing too, but NO ONE noticed. Go back and listen to Vegeta describe the First Legendary Super Saiyan - EVERYTING he says is actually written off as non-canon later on. What Vegeta is describing in that description is EXACTLY what happens to Goku in DBGT when transforming into SSJ4. But we ALL KNOW that SSJ4 doesn't actually exist in Canon Dragon Ball.

In The Zone no because we see during the Frieza saga that he clearly holds the weight of the extinction of his species at the hand of Frieza, he literally tearfully begs Goku to enact revenge and kill Frieza. So I think it’s fair to say that he was just faking it so that he didn’t catch the ire of Frieza.

they seem to be ignorant...they legit think bardock came out in the earlier mid 2000's...its a t.v. special from 1990 and its non canon now sadly ... but it showed us stuff that was not yet in the manga like freeza and his men and goku showing up vs freeza on namek namek itself and I think the anime had just that year shown kaioken vs nappa not that long before this special came out so for some that was new too

Gotta love the puns in the Dragonball world. There's almost always some sort of theme at play. Chi-Chi means milk, because she's the daughter of the Ox King and has breasts. LOL The other conventions are: Saiyans: vegetables. Bulma's family: underwear. Namekians: musical instruments or mollusks (except their supreme leaders' names are religious honorifics, such as Kami on Earth and Guru on Namek). Frieza's family: cold-related puns. Goku's family: food-related puns.

Team Four Star is a huge of Bardock: The Father Of Goku. In fact, they ranked it at #3 of their top 24 movies and specials. The same can't be said for the "sequel" Episode Of Bardock, which they ranked at the very bottom of their list because they hated how it turned bardock from a narcissistic a**hole to a genuinely good guy for no reason and how him becoming the legendary super saiyan made no sense

Goku's name is a reference to Sun Wukong, the monkey king (Songoku in Japanese) Gohan wasn't given a saiyan name because he's culturally an earthling.... He's named after rice/lunch... Only Saiyans are named after vegetables, they're from planet Vegeta(ble). Gohan is a bowl of rice, iirc, but he's named after Goku's adoptive father. Goku is named after Son Goku, a legendary immortal monkey-humanoid King from chinese legends, and so isn't a pun, but his saiyan name is Kakarot, or Carrot. Chichi is milk, actually does fit the ox-king theme, since it's a cow thing, but also boobs, while ox king is just a character from the same story as goku. Bulma (Buruma) is named after "Bloomers", and her son is "Trunks", her father is "Briefs", literally underwear not just clothes.

You can see it as hyping frieza up, but I'm pretty sure that within the abridged continuum, that this episode wasn't made until after the frieza arc, at the same time they made their cooler films, hence why he makes a cameo before his canon creation.

They general take from future stuff to help lengthen episodes or movies. Cooler wasn't created as of yet, that's why the scene is entirely different in the actual movie. Remember vegeta's rage scream on namek at trunks appear yet they hadn't even reached his special.

the reason freeza was very throaty is cause in his final form 100% he has to sound manly and at first when they dubbed the freeza saga they were copying the canadien voices for a few eps so it was an imitation not really their own voice and the tech in 1999 to dub was limited for a small company like funimation which is why they dubbed for 2 years the show in canada with better equipment but realized it was cheaper to dub it in house to meet the demand when they gained some money finally
