Regarding what you said about smooth transitions from arc to arc, that's not missing from GT. The Baby arc happens because Baby was a carry over from the BSDB arc who escaped to Earth, and the Shadow Dragon Saga happens because the gang attempted to use the Dragon Balls to fix everything that happened during the Super 17 arc. The only exception is Baby into S17. There's just a timeskip between those.
