Nice comparison. A good alternate way would be for each skipper to use each yacht over say 4 short races each and see if a yacht consistently performed better across all skippers

I note the stock boat was venting onto the two test boats as the lead boat. A good technique for tuning with similar boats is for one to just get on a heading and sail normally with the other boat(s) on it's hip (astern a couple of lengths and to windward the same). If the second etc. boat is copping the fluff from the pace boat it will find it is down on apparent power and unable to point as high...

Don't forget stock sails are a little bit larger than after market ones.

The DF65 is a great rc racing yacht stock and there is not much that is allowed in the rules to modify. The only changes are single panelled sails, rudder servo, radio system, and upgrade the battery to LiFe (850mah preferred to comply to weight rule)

Thanks...I used touring car decals for the "Bad Beat" boat and the Team Brunel was painted (incl. the letters)

Can you race the RG65 and the DF65 in same fleet per rules?

Hi, the DF65 can be raced with the RG65 group without the use of the A+ sail. But, the RG65's are a lot faster boat then the DF65. You would have to update the rigging and sails... by the time your done, you're likely at the same price as a good used RG65. The DF65 is best raced among themselves IMHO.
