I decided to make another dragon fruit video so i can add it to my ongoing forever projects with update videos every year. This time it's a yellow dragon fruit so it wouldn't be exactly the same as last time :)
"A pitaya or pitahaya is the fruit of several different cactus species indigenous to the region of southern Mexico and along the Pacific coasts of Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. Pitaya is cultivated in East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the United States, the Caribbean, Australia, and throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world." - Wikipedia

So gentle with your plants. I dug a cactus out of my gutter I just put it in a pot with the soil it was growing in and that sucker has doubled in size!

Well done man! Great video as always. Hope everyone had a great gardening season! What One of the thing I like most about your videos is watching the soil. It is so alive in there, the soil is literally breathing.

Yay, more dragonfruit! I’m growing my own as well, so I can’t wait to see what colour fruit it’ll make! It’ll be a fun comparison to see how yours grows!

Yeah dragonfruit is weird. It grows as a cactus and becomes a tree-looking thing over time. Fascinating.

I planted one of these. Unfortunately yours got sick(decolored yellow part in the middle) but if it survives it becomes like scar tissue and the rest keeps growing. When these get to about 1 year, the growth accelerates suddenly and it will be 2+ meters in 3 months. Not kidding.

Will you be showing all of these when they hit their end stage? Like an apple tree from sapling to full on apple tree with fruit.

Apples from seed-grown apple trees are a real gamble. If you grew let's say from the seed of a honeycrisp, the odds that you get something tasting like a honeycrisp are tiny. Most likely it would be woody, sour and barely edible (or it could be amazing, you never know, but adds are not on your side) If you want to grow good apples reliably, grow from cuttings

Has this plant bloomed yet? I have some dragon fruit cactus high up in a tree in my yard. No dirt. It won't fruit even though it's old enough. I'm thinking that nothing pollinates it. I'm wondering if the flowers are self-pollinating. I highly suspect not.

I've had 2 dragon fruit plants I grew from supermarket fruit seeds. I think it's been 6 years now. They keep growing straight up. Mine are about 3-4 ft tall. Their thorns sting and are nearly hair thin. I keep waiting for a flower or something to grow, but it hasn't happened yet 😅. At least they grow a new section every year. : )
