Square is DEFINITELY planning something big with the new DQ games. Dragon Quest is one of the most iconic game series of all time, they'd have to high not to be planning something big. And on the topic of Visions of Mana, I was floored! Mana has never been that popular in the West, but it certainly got a following with the success of the Collection & the Trials Remake. I'm hoping they improved from Trials with better voice direction, way smarter A.I partners, among other things.

In terms of nostalgia, definitely. DQ franchise has similar nostalgia feelings like pokemon to me at least. I loved FF games back then, but they never set a certain tone like DQ.

Dragon Quest Monsters is amazing. So glad its sold so well in Japan and hopefully the west too. Its far more fun than Final Fantasy 16 was imo. I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest 12 and i hope Square Enix keeps the Dragon Quest series pure. I don't want it getting westernized (and dull) like Final Fantasy has become.

I figure as a result of sales, DQM will iron out perfromance issues and add second act as paid DLC. They dramatically underestimated demand for DQM series. Prolly because DQ Treasures didn't sell well.

DQT was originally planned to be a DQM game, which angered a lot of fans when it was changed during development. It resulted in low sales despite being a great game

I actually really enjoyed DQ treasures from start to finish it’s what influenced me to pick up Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince I have never played aDQ Monsters game before now despite being a long time dragon quest fan I’m really enjoying the game and to be honest this game is almost as fleshed out as a mainline game story wise the only noticeable thing missing is weapons and armor and the ability to attack alongside your monster party but that’s understandable as it’s an important part of the story. I had heard that that’s not the case in all the past games though it makes me definitely what to look for past games in the DQ Monsters franchise after I’m finished completing this game.

I'm so glad you gave DQM's latest entry a second chance, the original GBC cartridge was my first entry into the Dragon Quest series, gifted by my awesome big brother when he worked at what later would be GameStop in the local mall. There are a good few hidden channels that teach the more complex synthesis recipes which make truly amazing creatures! Finding out about the Mana series being revived was a wonderful surprise to me, oddly enough my first game was Legend of Mana on my backwards compatible PS2.. it truly proved that videogames count as interactive art!

I want more monsters games, this was a great side game from the mainline game, i want to play 12 too! I love Toriyamas designs so playing as monsters i fun imo. Wonder if they have more monster designs ...over 500 monsters in the Dark Prince is impressive imo.

i played Dragon Warrior Monsters when I was a kid. It was my favorite game ever and it was such a stand alone for me back then. I had no clue what it was .I'm hoping this game is similar because i found out that "Dragon Warrior Monsters" is actully technically "Dragon Quest Monsters."

To be fair, this isn't the first time a mainline Mana game was not on a Nintendo console. Dawn of Mana was a PS2 exclusive title that didn't make it on the Wii or GameCube at the time. Maybe they'll rerelease it someday, and probably put Visions of Mana on a Nintendo Console eventually.

@genius2012 I'm a huge SMT fan. I got the true demon ending in Nocturne lol I was so addicted. Persona 3 is my favorite Persona game, so I'm excited about the remake.

I don't see what's so weird about Square enix not showing more about those 2 Dragon quest titles. They most likely just announced them when they were in early development, companies do that all the time, as a matter of fact, announcing a game by only showing a logo should be synonym of "That's all we have" by now. Back to Dragon quest, Square enix have been consistently releasing 2 titles each year, so Dragon quest 3 remake is most likely coming out next year based on the recent updates and the lack of tittles for 2024. I doubt they are waiting for the Switch 2, they can always port it to the console later, just like they did with Dragon quest XI, they could even sell more by doing so, as a matter of fact, that's rockstars bussiness model with PC.

My only problem with this theory is that there is no reason they can't announce them ahead of the time for those platforms. Sure they need to announce the switch 2, but us getting now nearly 3 months into 2024 and still not a f'n peep about a switch 2 actually being confirmed, just a bunch of rumors... i'm not confident. Square Enix hasn't been doing great financially, they wasted a ton of money on some IP's that didn't pan out and i think they're trying to just stay in business. The irony is if they drummed up some interest around DQ12 it would 100% bring them extra money in the long run.

I really hope that Visions of Mana builds off of Trials of Mana. The only issue I have with Trials is the English voices. Trials way exceeded my expectations.

I also buy copies of RPG games on multiple consoles. DQXI I bought Three times including both versions on PS4. Vision of Mana I plan to do the same. My Switch OLED is my main console to play games in handheld mode.

Played the latest dragon quest. Felt it was so easy I was falling asleep. Played dark prince. Loved it. Appropriately difficult. You keep comparing the game to games like pokemon. I think it’s more accurate to call it an rpg with constantly changing teamates, which greatly increases variability. I probably won’t buy the next dq, but I’m grabbing the next DQM as soon as I see it

Dq12 will most likely be out 2025 fall. It seems dq3 remake will be out in fall 2024.

I get your excitement but youre talking about japanese sales. Just because it did well over in their country doesn't mean good things will come to the American side of things, the game cameout here and barely anyone spoke about it in the US. Dragon Quest games are just now getting noticed and we might not still get DQX Offline which is still up in the air. If this game dont do well in the US, theyll look at that and just stop catering, and keep it over there like they usually do.

I'm thinking that DQXII is a PS4/5 temp-exclusive for Japan. but DQIII is probably going to hit Switch & as a Switch 2-enhanced game (with Steam PC+PS4/5 releases later). They're probably stumbling around wherever if XII would be a worldwide release or not, since at least a Japan-only release is probably a marketing slamdunk for Sony. but Square-Enix's western branch probably isn't going to touch it until either exclusivity runs out or there's an enhanced port for switch 2 (depending on if the carts are the same?). it might also help wherever if Nintendo is publishing later DQ games. Nintendo did handle publishing of the 3DS ports of 7/8, and XI S outside of japan. but Square-Enix handled Dark Prince and more-recent titles entirely by themselves.i dare think that XI S was a special circumstance, despite X initially leaking the Switch's development name. though that could just be Smash bros hype.

I disagree with you, if things are as you say and square is waiting for the switch 2, I think that would be a mistake, nothing tells us that the Switch 2 is going to be as successful as the Switch, we already have the WiiU as precedent, so I think that betting on a could be (switch 2) instead of the sure thing (Switch) is a big mistake on squares end

The difference being that Square Enix likely did think that DQM was going to sell poorly, it always has been a pretty niche series in the first place especially in the west, while with Pokémon they know that they can rush a game and it will still sell millions.

I know people who bought the new dq monsters game only bought it for nostalgia, i know didnt buy it because it looked good because that game looked like hot garbage. Horrendous framerate and awful pop in just kept me from getting that game.
