Ever since I bought my sister Dragon Quest 11 (she is a big fan of RPGs) she has become a fan of the series. She has been asking me for updates on Dragon Quest 12, and 3 remake, and she has been trying to get her hands on the older games since. She'll be so happy if Dragon Quest 10 gets localized.

I'm as excited as you guys but it looks like they started with Asian territories because they localized v1~v3 years ago in the short lived Chinese version of DQX Online so, they have a bit of script saved from that version. If there's a english version planned it'll take a bit more time because v1 and v2 are the length of 2 full mainline DQ titles. Also, Square Enix hasn't taken down the Offline fan-tl (available on Nexusmods) like it happened to DQ7 for 3DS years ago so, let's wait cautious until Square Enix provides a real announcement.

GOD. PLEASE. I want this game to have an official release. I also want to hear more about DQ3 HD-2D and DQ 12. We've had multiple other Dragon Quest releases since hearing about 3 and 12 with the new Monsters game and Infinity Strash and Treasures. Square...realize that there are in fact Western fans of Dragon Quest.

Well…DQ3 remake is coming out on November 14th 2024 and DQ1+2 remake is coming out in 2025. Still no news about DQ12 but we may also be getting it in 2025 but that’s wishful thinking.

I know. As much as I lean towards single player games, the MMO version of Dragon Quest X looks ten times better than the Offline version in both gameplay and art direction. It’s definitely a unique take on a Dragon Quest game, and I worry we’ll never get to play anything like it. Hopefully, some of its ideas make it to Dragon Quest XII.

Dragon quest is my favorite series. Ever. By far. Hoping and praying to god this is true. I played the demo for about an hour using muscle memory and thought it was so fun but I had to turn it off because it made me sad. Between online and offline demos I probably have 10 hours in dq10 lol. So so so hopeful

Bare minimum if it’s on PC someone will make an easy to use translation patch even if Square doesn’t do it in English. Dragon Quest XI 3DS got that treatment too until Square shut it down because XI S has the 3DS content.

I bought a copy of dragon quest x and I been playing with Google translate the translation is rough sometimes but the story is about understandable its a pain navigating some menus but with a little trial and error it's pretty functional to play dragon quest offline on the switch if you have a phone and some patience.

I think that the reason why they haven't announced that DQ10 Offline is coming to global yet is because that releasing a tiny version with chibis of something people really wanted and had no other version of might not be worth the backlash. (see reactions to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and World of Final Fantasy for reference on what might happen) I have a feeling that what they might be doing is trying to get both DQ10 Offline and DQ10 Online to the global market around the same time, most likely having DQ10 Online become an offline system or with a P2P multiplayer system. And if they can't do that, it might be better to not release any DQ10 at all and just wait til DQ12.

I played DQX Offline when it came out. The graphics are honestly abysmal (at least on Switch) but the gameplay and story were really good. I clocked in at like 70 hours, but there are still loads more quests left to do. Was gonna get the Book 2 DLC but I'll wait to see if we get an English version first.

It's actually not at all weird that it came out on the 3DS - a lot of people in the west don't understand how well the 3DS sold in Japan. It's the fourth best selling console of all time in Japan, it sold better than the Wii and any PlayStation console

I can't proof this info but when the game came out in japan i read somewhere that it was split into two parts and that the second part would come out a little later (compareable to the monster hunter games back in the days, when we in the west only got the game with the add on). so it makes sense that the game comes out now that this second part came out... i never checked this info so it could be BS

That's fantastic news indeed. I won't deny, however, that I'm still disappointed about the drastic change in the visuals. They could've used the assets from the online version, maybe brushed them up a little bit, scaled down the maps, dialed down the grinding, and it would've been *perfect*. But no, they had to completely remake the game in a chibi style. I'll play it as I've always been fascinated with DQX, but deep down I wish they just used the original assets instead of doing this. Not even DQIX is this chibified despite being on the DS.

I'm pretty much retired from MMORPG's but i'd be more than happy to return for DQ10. The main problem with bringing DQ10 over is that they don't want to compete with themselves. SE already has FF11 and 14 still going strong here. In addition, as much as it hurts to say it; DQ just isn't popular here in the west, and translating it for an English release would be a major undertaking with very little upside. That's why I thought an offline DQ10 would have been a slam dunk to release here. It wouldn't require everything to be translated and future expansions could be paid DLC. Sadly, DQ10 is still vaporware here in the US and DQ12 and DQ3 remake have been largely silent so a game that's basically done should have filled that gap but instead, we get Joker 2...

My knee jerk position is initial skepticism. But if the game is already localized into other languages, then the development cost of adding English, and possibly other western languages, could be memorable. Nintendo does have a policy of doing its own product announcements, so it’s not a massive reach. I would love to play DQ11 offline. But I will put my nickel down and dismiss the possibility of MMO localization outside Japan. The financial outlay, including data centers, would preclude it. DQ is a niche brand out here regardless of how committed the fans are to that brand

Hear me out, I'm guessing a partner/indie direct next month (Nov 2023) for Nintendo. There still seems to be several missing announcements this year, including this one for DQX, that the company seems to be keeping under wraps and it probably won't be until Feb 2024 that we would get the next proper mainline Direct which seems too far out. I also really doubt Nintendo's gonna have anything to show at the Game Awards, they've hardly had any presence over the last few years.

The title is called "Dragon Quest X Offline". If it's a main series will always be Roman Numerals. Also still agree about the release not confirmed yet since the DQ news must have that ding ding noise for confirmation but we didn't hear anything so this guy is speculating just to give others hope. I am hoping next which I do see a release of Dragon Quest Erdrick 2D-HD Trilogy in the future next year. Maybe we will see a better trilogy of DQXII.
