I think the game truly had the potential to be on par with Skyrim and The Witcher in the top RPGs of their era. The combat and the vocation systems are probably the best ones I've seen in my life. The same goes for character customization. But there were some poor choices here and there that brought it down. Off the top of my head: -The very limited fast travel options -Having just one village and one city (which are both amazingly well built) -The exact same monsters spawning in the exact same place every time -All of the above make travel very repetitive -Lazy voice acting -The very counter-intuitive quest system and storyline development -The main character having almost no dialogue options, making the interactions seem bland -Low amount of dungeons I'd say that the game suffers mostly because of it's lack of world expansion. It's pretty much in the same level as Ocarina of Time in terms of places you can visit and how you can get there. The world sometimes feels empty, much like Dark Souls' does, but at last that's deliberate and necessary in DS. DD has no excuses for it.

The main problem this game had was that it came out at around the same time as Skyrim, and completely flew under the radar. Hears to hoping it gets the attention it deserves this time around, I mean this was Capcom's first attempt at a fantasy rpg and they did it right, show them some recognition.On a side note I was planning to just remake my old character and pawn when this came out but after re watching Kono Suba for the 800th time I want to make a Megumin pawn, now I want to recruit pawns that look like the whole cast. Will anyone be making pawns that look like Darkness, Wiz, YunYun anyone? I know some one out there got this same idea.

I think they did an amazing job, considering it was their first attempt! Compared to Skyrim being the... what, fifth Elder Scrolls game? And the third to use the same formula after Morrowind/Oblivion. There's so much potential in Dragon's Dogma, that's why I really want a sequel!

Great guide, i hope you don't mind if i add some thoughts :) Mages have extremely bad hp growth; they basically get the same stat growth as Sorcerers but with less hp so you'll get lower stats overall between Level 10-100 (and between 100-200 it's more balanced but the stats you get are less with each level so it really matters a lot). I still think Warriors are the worst class, like you said, but Mages give them a run for their money... lol About Warriors, while i basically agree with 3:58 and 4:30, they have one strength that really sets them apart for early-to mid-game, which is that they have extremely powerful single hits. That ends up mattering against bosses with tons of defence, especially in BBI, who take basically no damage from certain Vocations because they lack exactly that, a single powerful hit to break past the enourmous defenses. I've had a experience where as a MK i couldn't damage a BBI boss *at all* even though i constantly hit it for 10-15 minutes (the hp bar took almost no visible damage), then my Main Pawn who was a Warrior landed one Arc of Deliverance and took off one and a half full health bars. Also, props for pointing out 5:38, Ranger Pawns are OP because of their aim, a friend of mine who runs the DD subreddit has a optimized Ranger Pawn and after employing it for a while it's broken lol. Though i'm unsure how much Inclinations matter, i've never seen it make such a huge difference i could tell without looking at the menu excepting Nexus ofc (tho it's probably just me lol). 6:48 i've yet to meet anyone who prefers Shield and Daggers over Sword and Bow... idk what it is, maybe just that it looks really cool while Shield and Dual Daggers... yeah. 7:50 Yea the Magick Archer is straight-up the best class in the game, they have a Double Jump, Instant Reset, can levitate and have a skill that employs a automatic jump (Sunflare), which can be canceled with Instant Reset and refreshes once you jump, allowing you to reach heights no other class can reach. They also have a skill that kills everything in Bitterblack Isle thanks to the Corridors (Ricochet Hunter), Ninefold Bolts two-shots Eliminators and Living Armors without buffs while Warriors always have a 15 minute fight, they can equip what feels like 90% of Armor (including two of the three Level 3 sets), and like you said they have a skill for basically every situation. They even have access to a Magick Attack and Defense buff that can be stacked for 4 times (basically infinite periapts) and its a Dagger skill so they dont even have to give up a Magick Bow Skillslot. Then you have the Warrior who only has 3 Sword skills and a single jump. FeelsBadMan (if you need more convincing, look up "Magick Archer vs the World on YT", someone did a great demonstration lol 8:10 one of the coolest vocations
@valeastora41857 жыл бұрын
Top Waifu on most of those points i agree but there are 2 that are dead wrong. Incs are extremely important. Without them pawns will sometimes stand there and do nothing when you need them too. And on the next note mystic knight can do more damage then magic archer if you lvl right and know how to use the class. Back on 360 i had 7 characters and my mystic was the best out of all of them.
@valeastora41857 жыл бұрын
I mean to be fair most people like the ranged classes because they are much easier but i have always like myk
@SilverMont7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the thing about Mystic Knight is that you really need to understand the skills to do anything... at all. The basic attacks are absolutely terrible, I played Mystic Knight for ages and I just couldn't get it to do ANYTHING compared to when I played Warrior. Eventually I started to get the hang of it - you just need to be doing counters all the time, and that Stone Jungle ability (and magic cannon spam if you feel like!) But yeah they really do suffer from a skill bloat and not enough slots to put them in. Warrior having the opposite problem, but on the bright side, any Warrior can usually get by with pommel strike, escape slash (I forget the exact name) and then a third skill of choice, being arc of deliverance or that whirlwind uppercut thing. Pommel strike itself mostly being good as it's so fast you can use it to stagger an enemy to follow up with other attacks.

xD4B00TYB4ND1Tx Zuricks I was going to pick Mage , I've not played the game before but consider myself quite seasoned in this genre . What do you think ?
@xDBTYBNDTxZuricks7 жыл бұрын
The mage is the most complicated of the three classes. They can heal, buff, and cleanse their allies of debuffs like poisons or curses, and they can also destroy they enemies with the power of frost, fire, and lightning. Sounds cool right? It can be, however there are drawbacks. Pitiful physical damage and defense (in a game where 90% of the enemies deal physical damage its a good idea to have at least DECENT physical damage) no mobility aside from an ability that let's you float. Why would you want to float when you could double jump or roll? They also have the lowest health gain per level of all the classes. Its especially difficult to play as a mage in hard mode, as getting one shot by enemies isn't anything new, you can't dodge attacks or block them with a shield, you have to rely on good positioning and pawns who know what they're doing (more often than not they're doing something completely random like extracting minerals or gathering herbs in the middle of combat) so yeah, I don't reccomend playing a mage until you've picked up on the mechanics of the game and the strengths and weakness of your allies and foes.
@SilverMont7 жыл бұрын
Mages are definitely a lot harder to start with than the other two classes, partially due to the split-role they play, and also because of the unique way casting is managed in this game. Sometimes I feel like it might be a good idea to start as a Fighter for 1-10 for an eventual caster, if only so you can get some extra health / defence stats. But really, you can do whatever! I think Strider is the most fun class to start with, as it has both melee/ranged options, the double jump and is quite easy to get into.

A word to new players: Don't worry about min-maxing. The game is loose enough that you can pretty much play whatever you want and still come out on top as far as you pass the many gear checks in the late game. Worrying about leveling as this vocation or that is a surefire way to optimise the fun out of this game if you're not already the kind of player who's into that kind of obsessive stat manipulation. I've played through this game a few times and cleared all content without ever worrying about having perfectly min maxed stats and it was still a blast.

Great video for starting people off with a vocation that suits their playstyle. I have logged around 800 hours in this game across two platforms and three characters, and the snippet versions of each class here are spot on. And I totally agree about the Warrior. Super fun to play, even if it's a little lame to only get three skill slots. I feel like that was one of the few areas the game really dropped the ball. I also think it's funny that one of the best Magick Archer skills is not even an attack, but one that cures all debuffs on your team (including Drenched!) and makes them immune for a good minute or so. Honestly, I would say that the damage warriors can do *does* in many cases make up for their lack of versatility. If you've seen/actually yourself fought a drake or dragon with a warrior, they are fantastic for capitalizing on the dragons vulnerability moments.
@SilverMont7 жыл бұрын
Warriors can do huge damage, but then if you wanna get off an Arc of Deliverance, you do need good timing and all that. An Assassin meanwhile, could either do similar damage from range with the bow, or use Dire Gouge etc with a sword to do even more DPS. I think, for the Warrior's lack of versatility, they would need to have even higher damage + more hyper armour / health etc to make up for it.

Magic Archer is hands down the best class in the game, the ricochet arrows will kill everything in a small cramped space, and I mean EVERYTHING even Death O_O
@SilverMont7 жыл бұрын
And it just so happens that BBI is almost exclusively cramped spaces, what with being one big dungeon! Magick Archers really shine in there.

It is the most fun and broken class I've played. No enemy was able to survive 10 minutes. I just laughed whenever I killed enemies that once gave me trouble with ease.

There is one thing i wanna say about warrior that i think you forgot to mention The warrior is while not only the most tankies *in my opinion* it is also the simplest and easy to use one because all you need to do is swing your sword. For those not good with spell casting timing blocks aiming with the bow and things like that.

Had a blast with this game. Could never understand why my pawn came back with rocks (hahaha), finally changed him to a beast instead of running around picking up everyone and rewards were better. Always gave good rewards for the pawns I used. One of my favorites. Thanks for this.

It's a bit worrying when your old man pawn comes back with a "big nut."
@micheler41207 жыл бұрын
LOL. They're rare more reason to be uneasy.
@Marcusvroston7 жыл бұрын
Michele R Usually, when your pawn keeps coming back from the rift with rocks it means he's been banned from receiving gifts (usually happens when the server detects that you're using him to trade items with another account), but since you stopped getting them then maybe this wasn't the case. That or the ban was lifted.
@micheler41207 жыл бұрын
Thanks but that wasn't the case. I had to change the inclination. :)

You will still want a few levels of fighter and ranger even with their limitations because of their gains to health and stamina when leveling. Then, decide on weather you want to focus on magic (sorcerer) or strength (assassin for arisen or warrior/fighter for main pawn). Then, once you hit 100 change to what you want your real class to be. Should make you fairly strong no matter your path.
@msarilyn76774 жыл бұрын
first 10 levels go either fighter toward strength, strider toward hybrid and mage towards magic. Then 30 levels of warrior, 30 levels of ranger and then 30 levels towards your focus stat. Then 100 levels of your final class. Fairly easy to do and should make a strong character without the headache of min/maxing.

Успехов в развитии канала ( понимаю комментарий как и игра устарели, но может в будущем поможет ). just a quick tip after you kill the dragon for the first time SWITCH TO HARD MODE gold will be much easier to get and you will level 3 times as fast hard mode isn't as hard as it seems you just don't want to get hit by anything (a bandit one shots my ranger only lvl 30 charachter and bats deal 100 damage per hit)
