The samples show some RPG mechanics and some visual novel mechanics. What fraction of the gameplay time is spent in "RPG mode" and "visual novel mode", respectively?

There is a lot of story in this game and much of it is spent watching scenes play out with the characters. Another good portion is spent in menus, feeding dragons, upgrading equipment. The RPG portion of the game has a lot of backtracking and material collecting. Boss battles are fun, but grunt battles can be sped through with auto play and fast forward

Wow, maybe it's because I'm not an avid consumer of this genre but I just used auto attack once, never again, enjoying the whole strategy, trying different formations, attributes, etc. without strategy how do you devour specific cores for every character?

It sucks that compile heart and idea factory cheap or on English dub because only about 15% of each game dubbed in English whereas it's fully dubbed in Japanese. So yeah. It sucks that they're being cheap about it.
