In the original series, they could turn it off if they wanted too. They just don't have to because they don't lose stamina while in the form. That was the goal they were shooting for once Gohan finally transformed. Also, in an earlier episode of the abridged, she said she wanted another baby in exchange for letting Gohan train. Just thought I would remind you of that.

The form that Goku and Gohan achived is actually called Mastered Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan grade 4 (Vegeta and Trunks portraid already Super Saiyan Grade 2 and 3 respectivelly against Cell, that being the bulkier Super Saiyan in witch Goku was explaining that despite incrising your power drastically it decreses stamina and mobility as well) and this is the most perfect and stronger form of the Super Saiyan transformation.

I was always told that Trunks' version was Super Saiyan Ultra and Goku and Gohan were Super Saiyan Ascended. Like Perfect Cell. Technically, he only has 3 levels, (Perfect Cell, his Ultra oversized form, and his final Ascended form) and the comparative power levels match up to the different levels of SS. In most 'fan based' theories, when the power levels aren't named, there's this weird belief that Ultra and Ascended were Vegeta and Trunks, but I personally don't think Vegeta's version was much more than a more refined version of SS, the way training as a SS would naturally occur, versus training his base power level, which ends up making each level considerably more powerful.

If you re-watch cell making the arena, you can see one of the tiles flying past is miscolored green, which is why they made one of the tiles green in the arena. Plus it builds into his character, how everything must be perfect

30:11 just in case you didn't get the reference, the games as well as the fans named that version of Gohan "Teen Gohan" despite him being 9 in the manga and 10/11 in the anime. I'm glad that they fixed it now and just call him Gohan (youth)

3 things. Gohan MIGHT have been trained to SSJ faster by Vegeta, but Goku is more sustainable. Which, SPOILER, will be shown to be a better option. I'd just enjoy time with my family too. And steal my neighbor's car 😂 And, just a random observation, but I love how Krillin is getting owned or owning the entire episode. And literally NOTHING else 🤣
