@@isotopeofbacon4497 nah its reasonably difficulty. Its perfectly balanced to give enough of a challenge to enjoy it. If you want everything to be easy that's more of a you problem

Xan and Vaal are my faves because I almost exclusively use Chaosweaver and that class vs either of those two is a pretty fun coin flip. For me when a challenge is very mechanical I’m just waiting for someone else to steamroll it, then I’ll copy their strat like the steaming pile of casual trash I am.

I can not speak for the worst or best per say of 2021 in the Inn, but without a doubt, I can agree with your decision of Ice and Dragons. The complexity of the fight itself, and the mechanics as you mentioned yourself really make it shine - I'd argue, for me personally, it's the best fight I've encountered/seen in the Inn as a whole (including Inevitable Equilbrium). The only issue I have with Ice and Dragons is not the scaling -Ice (which is interesting since one -Ice scales and one does not), nor the +All mechanics on either party. It is moreso the lack of counterplay behind Frostscythe's -MPM, particularly if you happen to roll it once into an -Ice (or thrice like me :D). Some would argue that the funny "gamer nuke" (3x DoT OR 2x DoT + 1x -MPM (3x DoT is worse imo status wise), is particularly worse - as shield or no shield, 80 Ice Res or 0 Ice Res, it will leave a mark - but in my genuine experience, there is nothing more satisfying than neuturing said nuke with Frost Dragon Spirit (as bad as WDL/RDL's duration is - it works with his mechanics imo) or Earth Dragon Spirit. Perhaps in time I'll be able to experience and feel the same way with Inevitable Equilbrium (when I do it, Soon:tm:) or any other fights. Thanks for posting the video Astral, really interesting to see other people's thoughts and opinions in the Inn for 2021. I can't wait to see what 2022 (jeez time moves fast) brings!

Wow, this is really detailed. Massive +1 for writing it. Yeah, I'd argue that the funny "gamer nuke" is worse than -MPM into -Ice, especially since if you're using any decent class (that is, one with a low CD MPM shield), you can easily survive even if you eat one -MPM. But there's almost no counterplay to a massive nuke with +300 bonus - with the exception of effects like EDS or -Boost, which are a lot less common than shields.

It's interesting to have Ice and Dragons as the best fight, whereas Goose Dragon was the second worst, when both fights have a lot of RNG that can lead to a sudden death or severe . Now, I get that Frostscythe is just 1/4 of the Ice and Dragons fight, but it's mechanics do matter a lot and make the fight more tedious, as you really can't strategize against them. Sure, Goose Dragon is more boring due to it's high health. I personally like Goose Dragon Extreme more compared to Ice and Dragons, just because Frostscythe's RNG is much more annoying.

I'm not sure how much value other DF players put on this, but Ice and Dragons felt like a really cool fight, taking down 4 awesome looking mobs at once. And you get rewarded with some of the best gear in the game. Goose Dragon just feels like a slog 9 times out of 10. And you get a ribbon.

@@bread27 Don't get me wrong, I also really liked it. it gave the BiS Ice weapon and was challenging. I was just saying how odd is to criticize Honking Dragon on RNG when Ice and Dragons has it too with more hard-hitting consequences. I don't hate Ice and Dragons by any means, but I do prefer Goose Dragon more.

goose dragon i feel was made for the players who don't do inn because they don't like the kind of strategies that the inn either encourages or demands. its a fun, silly fight that is just difficult enough for non-inn players to get an idea how how the inn works, while not having to think too much. goose dragon could be a good first inn fight. it got me to at least try and do inn anyway.

Yeah! I get that - my question there is, why does it need to have 30k health for that? Do you think you enjoyed the fight more because it was 2x as long as a normal inn boss?

@@AstralCodex when it was 2x as long, i got to see more of the weapons and that was neat, but other than that i don't think it needed to be made that long a fight.

Is there any Inn fight that is notorious not for being boring, but that its difficulty is borderline unfair?

I think a lot of people agree that the hardest inn challenge is The Balance We Make. Uaanta is RNG-dependant as she chooses an element at random and debuffs you based on it and has an unavoidable nuke every 17th turn that buffs her boost by 50(it stacks), all of this and she has a constant 50 all resist. If she hits you with Energy you basically already lost, because she acts before Notha and Uaanta's energy attack leaves you at 1 hp, same if you get hit by Earth before Energy because it debuffs your MPM by 180, guaranteeing that you'll get hit for the next 3 turns. Also if she aligns to water, she heals 20% of her max hp over 2 turns. Notha on the other hand is consistent, she has 200 all resist, but is vulnerable to either Good or Evil depending what part of her rotation she's at(Evil, Good, Evil, Good, Evil, Good, Both, Both, rinse and repeat.). Her rotation is: Reflect damage buff, Bonus buff, Increase her all resist and healing, DoT you, reduce your bonus, reduce your all resist and healing, nuke you with good/evil damage, nuke you with fear damage. Then when you get her down to 50% she enrages and her rotation becomes a 2 step nukefest, where she basically repeats the last 2 steps of her previous rotation while stacking boost and bonus everytime she repeats, but the bright side is that she becomes permanently weak to both good and evil damage, so you gotta nuke her first.

Why do you think she’s “easily worse than goose dragon”? I agree that she’s long and easy but 1) amazing art and music count for a lot in my opinion and 2) you have to actually respect her mechanic and play differently.

@@AstralCodex her doom nuke does basically nothing and her destiny heal doesn't even threaten you because her damage is so low, she just wastes your time if you let her heal her mechanics don't actually pose a threat to the player, just make the fight take much longer hard agree on the art and ost though, wish the fight itself was as great edit: I also recognize the pride-like mechanic but in practice since your effects don't last for only 1 turn it basically turns into "don't click status effects ever unless you want her to become invincible" which just feels stifling when she doesn't do much to the player - it just feels there to be annoying

@@jonastder4616 Super fair, I think she also suffered from having 1000 Bonus, which meant that she couldn't have a threatening nuke (as the player has no real counterplay to it via shields and she purges -Boost).
