Dragonflight Pvp - Why does Blizzard hate tanks in Soloqueue Shuffle

Blizzard recently made a huge change to how tanks and especially protection paladins work in solo shuffle (aka Soloqueue).

So I have played prot pally as my main since wotlk: the issue I find with tanks in pvp is that we don't have a purpose anymore. Back in the they tanks had less dmg then a dps in the form of steady instead of burst dps, lots of ccs, lots of passive and active mitigation with a little bit of healing on top. That made tanks perfect disruptors and flag carriers. Now that is lost, tanks take 60+% more dmg in pvp which makes them almost worse flag carriers than others, because of that your damage mitigation is useless. The meta is burst only basically, and we don't have that big spike the dps have obviously. Tank specs don't have that much more ccs than others. In the end we don't have a place and Blizz is doing nothing about it, and just as u said, I stopped joining solo because of then constant mirror I get.

Tanking has had pretty good success pre shadow lands in the Form of African turtle cleave for prot warriors. We have the potential to come back. I fuckin hope so.

Not sure wht they can do? If they make tanks the only/main ccers in the game there will be outcry especially from rogues. Each tank needs a symbolic team ability like blood dk chains of suffering all enemies deal reduced damage to allies as long as chains stay on them Brewmaster already has bodyguard ability but it needs a huge buff like damage reduction and range or attacks deflected heal the brewmasteretc. Thing is stuff like that would "slow games down, and make people think. zug zug and win in 10 seconds or less is boring though so. 🤷‍♂️

besides spinnign the flag , prot has been pretty meh in pvp for ever. excluding prot pala , who can heal, but still ,, i agree, they need a definded role in pvp besides flag sipinner

stwtor pvp hsa a specifc role for tanks. In aerna they are very wanted qwith a passive dmg redux and taunt used as a dmg redux also.

If Blizzard wants people to play PVP they need to treat it like any other game mode. Give tanks a place - I just don't like where they're placing tanks right now. I'm glad they're open to suggestions. We will see.

I'm going to disagree with tanks being able to do damage, every solo shuffle I've ever done the tanks are at the bottom. The only exception being bears when thrash and brambles was killing players without the druid actually hitting them. For most of the tanks it's like punching an invincible pool noodle. I'm not mad my hunter can't tank a mythic plus, because that character doesn't fit that niche. Tanks don't fit in small pvp combat situations. rbgs and bgs certainly because they can provide objective utilities in those situations. While I don't think there's a good option for tanks in arena, I've haven't heard anyone excited to play with a tank in solo shuffle. Is removing them the best option? I think so but I don't think its a good option.

that was very good info thx ! but not agree whit u ! you think same way as blizz did in previus exp . just because you faild to kill prot pala or just coz "YOU" dont like you make video and make pressure liek "NOBODY" likes it ! ..you are 100% wrong ! so let me ask few question : if a Disc Priest do ton dmage as healer is fine? if any dps do ton for heal + huge dps is fine ? but if a tank do heal and dmage kids start to cry : "pls nobody like tank in arena coz it bad.. i can kill it !" pls Blizard i do 100000 post just take tanks out from arena ! so pls my friend ( no is not ) just coz u dont like the idea as Prot healer in arena do not play it ! simple ! so le me play as prot heal or dps as Prot war !

People crying about tanks in pvp, meanwhile dhs have a Lay on Hands like effect thanks to their demon every so often, rogue has endless cc, monks oneshot everything, warlock is tankier than any plate class while they themselves are cloth wearers... Yeh tanks, are NOT the biggest issue in pvp. Screw the crybabies that cry about tanks, go play pve if you don't like fighting certain specs.

they do too much dmg, and heal too much. they would be fine if they did 10% of a dps dmg and half maybe quarter of the healing of a healer. but were just hard to kill and maybe brought some light cc.

At least for prot Paladin, the damage is mostly from covenant abilities. Druids are a different story, but point is some tanks won’t do much at 70.

@@Varaben at the moment, but historically from legion to SL, tanks have been doing too much dmg while also having too much offhealing or selfhealing. This was also an issue in wrath. tanks cant have it all, else they are better dps or healers due to the tankyness. this inturn upsets players because its a handicap that allows traditionally players who lack the defensive skill to play a dps class to thrive on a class that lets them underperform but still see results.

Why what makes tanks in Arena any different from fighting a rdruid? Tanks can be specced into a wide range of things this xpac, including raw damage, pure cc, or pure survivability. The latter being the least useful in arena. If you pair with a high dps class like spriests or mm hunter you have the potential to cc enemy healers while keeping your team alive so he can long dick one of the enemy players. People think inside the box too much and are afraid to experiment. Also I just like harvesting salt from arena players that have to fight me.

You "dont get paired against other prot pallies"? I don't want to get put in a lobby with them either. We can agree that port doesn't belong in arena...Its a waste of my time and it doesn't feel good loosing rating because some selfish pally wanted to tank peoples rating because they are not the standard.

I just want them to find a home for tanks. I don't really play a tank, but I'd like to play prot paladin. I really can't right now though at least in solo shuffle. Prot Paladins only fight other PPs and if you're another tank you just get longer queue times.
