Yes!! A big part of our prep for this campaign was establishing the tone we wanted for the show. It's going to be a much more serious affair than some of my previous work and I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to it!

I’m a old man..I cut my teeth on the Red Box edition..I’ve listened to many DnD adventures here on KZbin and on Podcasts..and it’s nice to find one that comes off more as a gritty drama and less like a slap stick comedy…the opening scene with the paladin was all it took to hook me..well done…you have gained a new subscriber👍

that's the thing about 5e, you can have races...oops is that species 🙄 ? in worlds and settings you don't normally see them, because it is more important to players to have a wide choice of classes and races or whatever. As a DM you have to just roll with it. Even if it makes little sense in the setting.

It was a lot of work Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman wrote the novels I read 12 books in the whole trilogy it was a most fantastic wonderful adventure as these authors also created the early D and D games

In the old books there is not! My players wanted to play these races, so I included them. In this show, the half-orc race is more akin to a goblinoid (of which there are plenty in Krynn), and tieflings are just a rare pre-cataclysm race that persisted in the ruins/wilds of the deserts as nomadic tribes. Isn't it fun to add things that your players enjoy and create new stories? Or are boring and don't like our players having fun?

You can put whatever races you want at your table lol. I made space for tieflings and half-orcs because that's what my players wanted and their enjoyment is important to me. If you want everyone to play humans, then do that, it's your game 👍

I don't get the stats with hp and AC isn't the constitution hp? Some have higher hp with lower con?

That's right! Each class has it's own "hit die" value and at first level the formulas for their health: Barbarian: 12 + Constitution modifier Artificer: 8 + Constitution modifier Paladin: 10 + Constitution modifier Sorcerer: 6 + Constitution modifier So some classes will just have higher HP than others (mostly melee classes!). HP can also be affected by Feats like Tough. AC, or Armor Class, is defined by the armor worn, or without armor 10+dex bonus. There's also a barbarian's ability called Unarmored Defense, which is 10+Dex bonus+Con bonus, which is why Svartl's AC is so low!

My sons just got into this and with me playing BG3 I thought I'd give it a try, it's just so complicated 😂😂. But we got him this campaign for his 13th birthday, so I'm trying to get my head around things so I can make us all a campaign. Just struggling 😂😂. @@conmangames32That's alright! We're all here to learn. BG3 was so good, I'm glad you're giving D&D a shot! If you look closely, Svartl has 2 LESS health than his sister (13 to 15), which matches her +3 Con Modifier bonus to his +1. I wholeheartedly suggest picking up one of the D&D starter kits!! They make learning the rules super easy, include a good shorter adventure, and have everything you need for the game. No need for a player's handbook or DM handbook!

@@conmangames32Yep! On level up you can choose either ROLL your hit die value (barbarian is a d12), or take the average value. They both ROLLED for the hit point increase, added their Constitution modifier to the roll, added all THAT to their current health total, and that's their health at level 2! So it's clear Re'venah rolled poorly in this case!
