This was my favorite game as a kid. I saved up all summer to buy this game when I was young. I had saved up previously all summer mowing my grandfathers lawn to buy Dragon Warrior II and had loved the first one. I sent in the trick to Nintendo Power in classified Information section about the Soldiers armor trick in the very beginning when you sell it off for extra money. It came out in the issue with Mickey Mouse on the cover and I was beside myself as a kid when I seen it printed. Favorite NES game and this is a great video. It's awesome seeing how much love you gave the first three games in the series. Love the videos.

What do you do to stop your mp from not leveling up right? When I hit level 23 in my characters, at level ups, suddenly 2 levels in a row my wizards are NOT getting mp each level up. And I hoped to ask how to avoid this, or if there's some trick to make it so your mp doesn't stop going up? I'd like feedback on this because if I keep leveling up blindly if I don't get it fixed it would suck and mess up future stats. Is there an MP cap at some point to not go over some number?

4th one is way better once you know how to exploit torneko’s hustle. (Buy all steel broadswords or convert all his lost money to casino tokens, and of course sell his statue as it idles if you don’t). More characters and easier to get expensive stuff, and metal king slime is intuitively by the final dungeon. Do recommend buying heavy armor last, and for dq3 starting with a thief, merchant and cleric to class change into a sage, martial artist (merchant’s dig for more money with high luck, I got 10k once by low chance) and soldier/fighter (who can afford stuff now, mage to this once you learn oomph helps too). Gadabout is a luck exploit too (martial artist claws taper off but you can go for speed/criticals), though they’re too weak and slow to really bother being a sage (who has the slowest level ups and combine the mage and cleric spells, which is kinda redundant if you use one or the other, let alone dq3 and dq4 force that sage’s stone to multiheal all day vs oppressive final boss, which 4 has 7 forms and forces insulatle to reduce those breath attacks. Vid seems to be more about general progression though. 1:55 sexy/vamp personality for females only has the best stat growth (similar to final fantasy tactics war of the lions’ tynar rouge lipstick which is the most overpowered accessory in the game) when leveling. It is funny how these old games trick you about replay value when they mean research for optimal builds (late game thief and merchant are too weak and you already got money/good items dropped). I feel snes version of 3 is definitive as switch lacks treasures ‘n trapdoors.

You just earned a sub, I realized that I've watched several of your (these) videos over the last few days, I've been off of work due to mental health reasons, which is less important than the fact that these, in some small part, have been helping me get through the days. It's refreshing to see games I've played explained in ways that, maybe I already understood, or explaining the parts I didn't. To laugh some aspects of the challenges that would be faced, such as in FF1, because I know them well, and just see feats accomplished in ways I didn't. And 3 started to feel a lot more grindy at the time. After beating 4, it took me a while to get through 3. Thanks for reviewing this one today!

Dragon quest 4 is kinda a mashup of the first 3 games. Choose hero’s gender, play a boring sole Ragnar McRyan chapter 1 and have 3 playable characters with Alena chapter 2, which Alena and Ragnar don’t have magic. Torneko is far superior than the dq3 merchant (flip armors and use your wife’s store for profits then store as casino tokens or steel broadswords to sell for less as you can make infinite money, which helps the bs equipment prices in the series), which is just throwaway for a town or get money with digging by high luck. Congrats on finding a nice mashup fan game or hack though.
@brianvigue3907 Жыл бұрын
@@Brayniac I built it from the ground up based on the idea of making the archfiends more involved rather than sitting in their castles and waiting to be defeated. Thus, all those mini-quests that exist just to take you from point A to point B-- which practically defines DW3-- are used to move the archfiends' story along too. Eventually Baramos, Hargon, and the Dragonlord all start one-upping each other. I also combined the chapter system of DW4 with a hiring system similar to DW3. All the classic assets are used, so I made a hobby out of it. Aside from streaming a play-through myself-- bleh-- I haven't really thought about what kind of avenues exist for a homage like this.

I played the previous two Dragon Warrior games, but this was the first one that seemed addictive. I was rather disappointed that it was delayed, it was supposed to come out in December 1991, but was actually came out in March 1992, and this made my anticipation for it increase. The first time I played through it I didn’t know many tricks for gaining levels, including the ones in this video, so it did seem like a lot of boring level grinding.

Love this game. Remember renting it and beating it over a weekend. Then I went and bought it!

Great channel takes me back to when I was kid playing these games. But! However put this vision in your mind, imagine Chris fix as the narrator going Hey guys! You can beat video games! And I'm gonna show you how! First walk through this door right here "hand motions".

Can’t wait for DW4. I think most of us would have been fine if you wanted to wait and release this on Saturday, just so you’re not rushed. If you do that one, you might want to start now and do it on the side whilst doing shorter games. You certainly have good taste, as far as RGP’s go. Although, I’m more of a cat person. I’ve written this before and I’ll write it again: Square was the worst thing to happen to Enix. I knew this would be the game. This is, and was, better than the 3 Final Fantasy games released for the NES. Shame it didn’t do as well here. From what I’ve seen so far, this video was well made and, as always, well worth the wait.

I love this game so much that I've beaten the NES, SNES, and Gameboy versions. I just love that final boss music. To me, it is epic.

This was one of my favorite DQ games in the series until I played 4. Even though its another trilogy, 4 stuck with me more than 3. However, I loved 3 and how it completed the circle of the legend of Erdrick.

did that change now with being able to play 5 and 6 in the west?

only recently I had a pleasant surprise by discovering Final Fantasy 1 on the NES, what a great game... been having even more fun now with the Randomizer for it... Dragon Quest series is on my queue, for sure, don't let the simplistic visuals fool you, these are great games

DW3… this game and I have history. I love it to pieces, but something always go awry during my playthrough to keep me from finishing it, like the battery giving up the ghost and my save file vanishing. This is going to be the year I finally finish the game!

Only got to play the beginning as a kid. Did not finish it till switch came out. So, for nostalgia, I'm hoping you do DW IV. It was my favorite and last Nes game as a kid.
