I wonder what they mean by "Dragons lose the use of their forepaws"? Losing the use usually means that the limb has become vestigial or close to it, like a T-Rex's arms. But Dragons very clearly have powerful forelimbs, and they use them to fight?

@@AulisVaara Head cannon? No, the fade is alive. And if anything, that's your head cannon that dragon blood controls the fade. It increases one's connection to the fade, but doesn't control it. And no, you can't tear the fade, you can separate the fade from the waking world, or tear the VEIL, but you can't tear the fade. And no one brought up swords. And blood magic isn't connected to the fade, most people agree that it is most likely connected to the void, because blood magic WEAKENS one's connection to the fade. And great dragon blood is said to increase the power and grant more fade power to the user, as well as allow them to do what tevinter magistars dreamed of: enter the fade.

@@AulisVaara a demon is a spirit twisted by the void, and is sentient, and while it lives in the fade, it is NOT the fade. And you can't kill a demon. You can disperse it, send it back to the fade, shape it, but never kill it. It may take physical form, but when you fight it, you only destroy the physical form, not the spirit itself.

@@AulisVaara yes, key word, LIKE, doesn't mean he literally did. Spirits come from the fade, so it would feel like the fade. And even without spirits, being tranquil can be undone without a mage's help. And again, spirits can't be torn to pieces, they can split their spirt up into wisps, but that's not tearing their spirit up.

Since we know that qunari (the race) are most likely distantly related to dragons, could it be possible that like some of the dragon hunters who drank the blood, the early qunari drank too much of it and that's how they have dragon-esc features/traits (ie the horns, grey skin, large builds, thick skin)?

It is my theory that Ghilan'nain created the kossith by breeding her slaves with dragons. I first thought of this when I saw concept art of ancient elves with qunari-like horns.

Robert Chaffins ok, they aren't related, nor did they breed, it could all been elves forced to be reaver like creatures, by drinking lots of dragon blood, and Ghil stopping CERTAIN mutations, so they would still look mostly elfs.

@@ryan1000011 No, Qunari can get infected by the blight like any other; the running theory is that the only Qunari the Darkspawn ever encountered were scouting forces outside Par Vollen, and since you traditionally won't find female Qunari in the Beresaad (Vanguard), there just aren't many Qunari Broodmothers to begin with. Ogres are not a new form of Darkspawn, and considering the Arishok sent Sten and his platoon to Ferelden to _learn_ about the blight, it stands to reason that the Ogres we see are "old stock", so to speak.

In LOTR lore dragons were bred out of creatures like lizards but Melkor put a part of his mind into them, like Sauron put his essence into One Ring. Other dragons presumably had the minds of the Ainu followers of Melkor put into them. In any case Pride Demons in DA come close to being dragon shaped. The archdemon always takes the form of a dragon in each blight and Flemeth, who is Mythal, can turn into a Dragon. In origins I killed flemeth/dragon for Morrigan but that didn't prevent her from coming back to life. I can see how mythal is immortal, but not that dragons are. Makes me all the more curious of the Magisters Dragon Gods.

I love dragons, if my name didnt give it away. It has lasted far longer than any other interest of mine. Fighting dragons was always cool in video games, but I want a proper dragon rpg! Like how reavers would do, but to also choose to fight alongside or in favor of them. I hope in DA4, they go further in depth with dragons, make interesting equipment, weapons, weapon variations, classes even.

Wouldn't it be fun if in a Dragon Age game you if you find a Dragon egg early in the game and it hatches, you then have two or three possible options as to what to do with the hatchling dragon, one of which being to keep the hatchling & raise it as a pet which has a mostly positive or minor negative effect on you companions approval score (depending on each companion)? As the game progresses the young tame dragon grows up and for a long while eventually becomes a party member until it grows too big and is kept at your home base, where it stays until the final battle where it is revealed to be something more special than you realize and it can (sort of) talk to you in dreams, revealing in a cute & funny dream sequence that Dragons & Demons are national enemies who hate each other (after this the opinion to take naps beside your dragon friend becomes available so you can chat with her in your sleep and she adores you & her friends... she then plays a key role in helping you defeat the final boss in the epic & emotional final battle, however, whether not she survives the battle or not depends on how well she's been taken care of throughout the game...

Curt Clark actually, drakes aren't just dudes, they are dudettes too, it says in one codex, that they females ente this stage, but their wings continue to grow, where as the males don't. So yes, although they are slightly different, there are female drakes.

Interesting, I was thinking, the only mages/shapeshifters we've seen turning into a dragon where Flemmeth and Morrigan, and they're both female, so (assuming that the mage retains their gender while transforming) only female mages would be able to transform into dragons (wich also means that the player never will, since the developers cannot give an hability to only one gender...)

MoonChild Actual, male mages can turn into a dragons, also, malvernis, who's male, turns into a HIGH dragon, and note, that all the old gods(powerful demons) who take the form of high dragons are, you ready? ALL male, no exceptions, and no, urthermial(5th old god) is NOT a girl. So. Nope, females aren't the only ones who can turn into dragons, also, bio ware never said that they WEREN'T gonna re add the shapeshifting feature, just don't know how to go about doing it, because then there would be a lot of programming involved. Also, Flemeth and morrigan drank from the WELL of MYTHAL, a powerful elf mage claimed god, who worshiped dragons and protected them, and gives mage Shape-shifters: limited powers over dragons, and forms of dragons.

Great vid , Merci ... But what about dragons and magic, they're connected to the fade right? Fire, Frost and Storm are the most common but there's others . Cain't remember what Urthemiel spewed out , but Cory's Drago spat a Red Lyrium concoction .. What if you mix dragons; interracial dragon procreation. Maybe this is how to make a Archdemon or Maybe it makes a Key .. a KEY that can open special doors, sort of like Morrigan can open a Eluvian. Or maybe it just makes them pug'y looking and they need hip replacement.

matt richard that's not how you make an archdemon. Plus, Archdemons aren't real dragons, just demons in the form of them, and dragons stick to their species, sorry. They, so far, only breath: fire, ice, and electricity, and only one in dlc breaths poison. And the key are the Archdemons that's already been confirmed.

Dragons have wings unattached to their arms, those would be wyverns. That and snake like for Chinese dragons which usually also have obvious limbs. Skyrim drives me nuts because of this LoL the daedra have actual dragon appearances the rest are wyverns including alduin.

Staci Hathaway Because they AREN'T dragons, it's been said in the games many times that they where demons/spirits that took the form of dragons, HENCE: the first form of blood magic being taught to humanoids by the old gods, and the fact that a blighted one is called a archDEMON. also, let's say they where males, you know that DA deliberately made the lore contridict itself, and made it like real life lore and culture, which tends to contridict itself. Plus, in game, no one has lived REALLY UP CLOSE to fully study the genders and behaviors of dragons. So some of the high dragons we fought COULD have been male.

Ah, real life dragon lore...well all dragons are pretty much the same in all historical texts. A flying serpent with four legs. Western dragons have wings. The more lizard like appearance is relatively recent. But how dragons are seen differs with culture.

Jacob Freeman actually, dragons in western society where the only ones, it was a recent thing that other people started calling their creatures dragons, like in china the lung, thanks to European explorers, started calling lungs(who only have one thing in common: being a reptile, sentience, and fly) dragons. In reality, dragons can be in china, but they would still have all the limbs like a dragon, be a reptile, and can fly and breath ice, fire, or pestilence.

animal evolution wise it makes sense for males to take a serving role since female animals are the ones that continue the population, male dragons being smaller and tasked with getting food and protecting the nest makes sense. also in terms of dragon age lore mature adult female dragons are rare so yeah they're going to have a harem and need protection. it's the same reason male birds have colorful feathers and dance around or sing for females, it's just biology and evolution

Have to say, that out of all the Dragons in games, movies and other media, the ones presented in Dragon Age are my second to least favorite, second only to Elder Scrolls Dragons. Where in ES I don't like them because of their physical traits as well as their lack of connection to the concept of Dragons, besides being big element breathing reptiles, I don't like DA Dragons because they are pretty much just animals. I understand there is 'more to Dragon intelligence' than we know however I think a true Dragon has to take on one of two characteristics, they must either be completely animalistic like the Dragons in How To Train Your Dragon or they must be the silver tonged fiends like Smaug in Lord of The Ring/The Hobbit. At least, this is the case when dealing with western interpretations of Dragons.
