Oh wow yeah - "Within months, she was on the verge of financial collapse - a state of affairs that she blames squarely on the BBC programme - followed by the spectre of a personal breakdown. The expert help she was expecting from her slick new backers never came, she says. Nor did the £80,000 investment she was promised by the Dragons for a stake in the company: instead of giving her the money to buy into the company, they offered it as a loan." Other interesting bit - she secured deals in US.... but with Sears and Kmart. There is a dailymail article about her.

8-17 to 8-22 Duncan's reaction to Sharon's revelation of both himself and James being her preferred investors is absolutely exquisite! His body language is literally dripping with smugness...he snaps his pen like he's already sealed the deal, turns to James and who has already anticipated a souve handshake and his face is like the cat that just got it's cream. It is like a scene from an A grade acr in a Tarantino movie. Superb entertainment and I agree...probably the most outstanding pitch ever on DD. I had to watch it all again...and again. Turns out that in the end she received £26,500 as a loan. A few weeks after the show she was invited to drive 200 miles down to see Caan but on the day she arrived was told he was unavailable, and she met with another company. On subsequent meetings, Caan then asked her to use the loaned money to pay his own firm to create the website and she would also have to pay £3 000 / month for services during the course of the investment. Her salary was then dropped from £50 000 to £12 000. I guess thanks for nothing, dragons.

Thankfully it all worked out for Sharron in the end. She has secured contracts with B&Q and Maplins, as well as department stores Sears and Kmart in the US. Sharon has also secured a deal the Dragons couldn't match. She sold ten per cent of her shares to a new investor for£100,000. Of her new business partner, Sharon says: 'He is the best partner I could have wished for. He just lets me get on with it and gives me the support and infrastructure I originally asked for.'

Fantastic presentation. Very impressed. And a Scunthorpe lass! I was beginning to think that she'd made a mistake in letting the two guys know she'd wanted them as it turned the tables and they put their higher, I think, because of it. She wanted 50K for 15%, whereas I think she should have gone in for 100k for 10% as surely the value would be over £1m with all those contracts and sales. As it was she settled for giving away 66% more than she'd offered for 60% more cash, which she didn't need. The dragons for a bargain there. But she needed then to help her, you can tell that after two years of stress A hard work she was flagging. Good for her!

As a tradesmen, I would be unlikely to use this. A great idea, but no real H&S issue using a coat hanger, and I always drill, detached the bit, then pull a sleeve through from the back of the bit. Having spent many years threading cable through ducts, cavities and god knows what, I have clearly missed something. Like most engineers I used a set of thin nylon rods which do exactly what I saw in the video. I used them back in 1970. So what is special about these? Sure we didn't use magnets which maybe are now strong enough to hold the wire against some of the friction encountered, but a bit of duct tape worked fine - never had a problem during thousands of instals. Must be me!

Rods is already a thing but obviously not magnetic, basically screw rods together if needed and wrap some insulation cable around the cores or even use the hook feature they provide. From my experience being an electrician, these are a great concept but due to the magnet, won't work due to substances which are not visible through the walls or areas getting the cables through and the resistance will knock off the cable unless you put on an extremely strong magnet and even then, the insulation wrapped around the cores will be stronger if done correctly....

Sadly, the Dragons screwed Sharon over by only investing a fraction of the amount she was promised and it pushed her and her business to the verge of ruin.

Yeah no, she absolutely deserved to be praised. Not only did she have a good and simple product... that ALONE would make any of the dragons invest. But she also has a stellar personality, which again, that ALONE would've made the dragons invest. HOWEVER, she also has a clear plan, she knows the market, she's shown that she can make great decision despite being inexperienced. She's the TRIFECTA that the dragons are looking for. Oh and of course, the last bit of her negotiating the deal... I'm sure it just made the other dragons A LOT MORE jelous for sure.

It's too bad she didn't realize how much she didn't need them. They almost caused her to go bankrupt. Thankfully she was able to get out of the terrible contract she was in with them. She is now in the black. Had she stayed with those two tools it would have been her demise.

Here is the outcome: the ‘expert help’ she was expecting never materialised. The investment turned out to be a loan she would have to pay back and, she claims, the contract drawn up by Caan’s lawyers meant that, in effect, they had bought nearly a quarter of her company for £29. Sharon also claims she was asked to reduce her salary from £50,000 to £12,000, while Dunham points out that the two Dragons’ demands meant that one of them would become chairman of her firm. At the same time, Sharon’s health began to suffer. She says: ‘I felt absolutely mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted.’ Eventually, Dunham organised a termination of the contract with the Dragons’ legal teams. Shortly afterwards, Sharon went into hospital for three weeks having suffered a nervous breakdown. Dunham now confirms he has just issued a High Court writ demanding unspecified damages from Caan for defamation, but precisely what Caan is alleged to have said of his client is unclear. Says the lawyer: ‘I can’t comment at present. The case is ongoing. The damages we are asking for have yet to be assessed.’
