@Travel Crawl She isn't the only dragon who says that and secondly, she's actually the one who's the most straightforward and doesn't seek to beat people down before claiming that she's out in general whereas Peter, Duncan and Theo have a habit of doing exactly that which is unnecessary drama instead of just claiming you're out but because they are guys, it doesn't seem to bother you. She is the fairest and nicest dragon who advises people well whether she's interested in investing or not, she's also not as egocentric as many of the other dragons such as Hilary Delvey, Doug Richard and Rachel Elnaugh. Insulting people and calling them dumb is pretty dramatic to be honest "what you see in others that you don't like can lead to understanding of yourself" seems to very relevant in this particular case.

Easily one of the best presentations and handling of questions ever on Dragon's Den. The product was very cool, but it is saturated with crappy cheap Chinese knock offs, even back when this pitch was made. The big problem that I don't think they even realised was how good the deal was for James Caan. He owns 40% of the company with only 24k at risk. Including a freehold property within the company that James now owns 40% means he is guaranteed that asset and a 96k stake in it. Basically he just invested 96k into a property and gave them 24k for the 40% share. If they had agreed on the 50/50 split, James would have been given 50% of the company for free, and he would have owned a 120k property investment!

Just adding metal to mice would be nice. Too much plastic, feels cheap. If these car bodies were cast aluminum or something that could be cool. A heavy mouse (heavier than plastic) would feel fantastic in the hand and the body would never need to be replaced, just drop in some new innards at some point and voila, new mouse. Like, I would seriously consider an anodized titanium mouse (as long as the other features were up to snuff too) and I'd pay a lot more than $30 for it. Come to think of it, this could be accomplished by dropping a metal housing over another mouse, it would just have to be molded to fit a certain model. James Caan legit conned them by confusing post-money and pre-money valuation. If the company has 240k in assets and you invest 120k, then you get a third (or 33.33%) of the company, not 50%. If you were *buying* the company (meaning, the money would go into the current owners pocket) you'd get half. But since you're *investing*, then the moment you put your money in the company its value rises to 360k (its former 240k worth plus 120k in cash, which is also an asset). You put in 120k, the company is worth 360k -- you get a third. I'd say it's possible he made an error but this is such basic and trivial stuff for anyone who's ever dealt in investment, that I can't believe he didn't realise what he was doing. He basically said "the company has 240k in assets? Then I'll invest at a valuation of 120k", which is ridiculous. The only times you see companies valued under their assets is when they're about to declare bankrupcy, are investigated by the SEC and so on.

This looks like proprietary nonbrand mass produced Chinese mice with many "creative" shapes that I can find in small computer shops or small shady online stores.... And they just bought them in bulk, (probably) bought the design, and slapped their own brand. Again this is just what I think it looks like.

This does looks like a novelty item or something they would give out for free in Swag Bags at a tech convention in like the 2000s. I payed good money for an ergonomic mouse that is great for gaming and work.

One of the few times im not thinking of cars is when im using my PC... When you use a mouse you care about its reliability and ergonomitry. I dont even look at it while using it...why make it something to look at and thus not shaped to be held by the human hand...

I use a 80 quid mouse and a 100 quid mechanical key board (I'm not rich) so there is a market for high quality computer accessories. For those of us who work in front of a PC hours after hours, it's a fair investment.

Both David and Patti are good, but Patti was especially impressive. Although the mouse technology has moved on somewhat, there are a lot of people like myself who would really like to use a miniature version of the car that I have sitting outside. Many of the luxury car brands have a product lineup that goes beyond your usual car accessories. Land Rover have their 'Heritage Selection' lineup selling apparel, luggage, gadgets etc. Whilst Theo is far more experienced than I, I disagree with him that the price point for branded versions (especially of supercars) need to be lower. If anything, the mouse should be custom made to match exactly the specs of the car and made more expensive. A premium product that would be part of the customer experience. If you are buying a supercar, then you really aren't too concerned about money and the buying experience is very, very different to that of buying your average hatchback.

The wheels are made of rubber, which is not a good gliding surface for a mouse between wheels and matt; this should have been demonstrated first.

True, form over function. They're going on appearance like so many people do. Take corporate websites, they look great to the CEO's eyes, but they are frustrating to use, with links to the page you're already, on, going round in circles, answering every question but the one you want, pop-ups getting in the way &c&c. I bet whoever signs a website off hasn't tested it peoperly.
@MaxLennon2 жыл бұрын
Plugging it into the computer wouldn't tell you very much at all, unless the mouse flat-out doesn't work. The feel of the mouse and all its buttons, which are what comprise mouse quality in most eyes, are ascertainable in a standalone assessment.
