$50k for 20% is a $250k valuation. Their asking valuation was a bit less than 2x last year's sales which is appropriate. Yes, they need to pay someone to take the place of one of them until either the father goes full-time in the business or the son turns 18, but that was a low valuation deal. Everyone wins, but that was a low valuation deal.
