Someone who doesn't have a dog has zero incentive to download this app. A better route would be a database of snout pics that's available to vets and animal rescue organizations. Dog owners pay an annual fee to have their dog on the database.

Umm, why didn't they just add a Notification feature to the App...?? So whenever a dog goes missing, the owner hits a 'My dog is missing' button on the app, and everyone who has the app gets a notification. Everyone app user in that area then starts keeping an eye out for the dog. Solves the problem of people not looking at the app often enough...

They said each time they get publicity they get loads of downloads. They have a great idea but know nothing about the app but it’s probably there side hustle and have jobs but leave the app to the app tech guy. They aren’t businessmen. Most creative people with good ideas need somebody who’s good at business. Not everyone but a lot of the best even. Like Elon musks marketing has people believing he’s the smartest man on earth who’s saving it by making cars for rich folks

Make it an app for all vets in the country to use, when the dog comes in for check ups etc, scan the nose, see if the details match with the current owner. Job done. Would probably solve 90% of the lost/stolen dogs.

The owner should be made to pay a fee to the finder, of which this company takes a cut; with ad revenue, it would be more lucrative. It would also incentivise people to report missing dogs. If lots of people post snouts hoping to make a little cash, then more owners would join, growing the platform.

I guess it would rely on them selling the dog on. The new owner would check their nose on the app and see if they’re someone’s missing dog or not. Like when you buy a car and you check its history. Trouble is by this point the person would have already paid the money for the dog

Most owners would be happy to reimburse the new buyer to get their doggo back. Or if it became ubiquitous, people would use it before parting with any money to make sure it was a legit sale and start to close down the opportunities to make money from stealing dogs

This idea doesn't seem to help with preventing dog theft at all. For someone who finds a lost dog, they'd have to know about this app in the first place, and then there's no sure way to tell if the dog is listed there without checking. Honestly, what's far more effective is a simple dog tag with contact info and a chip implanted. There’s perhaps just a few niche cases where this app may be more effective like maybe finding out if the dog someone is selling to you is stolen or not.

Cool and usefull, but it seems like it taps into a just slice of the problem, thats why best move for them might be to find someone much larger who does chips or any type of dog security and sell the whole concept and what they developed so far, to include it in their overall dog security.

The Dog shelters, Dog rescuers, and all Veterinarians would be great if they had the app in case a dog was brought in rescued or found on the street or if someone said they found a dog, all they have to do is scan the dog's nose and find that dog's rightful owner.

Another 'tech' company whose only product is an app outsourced by 'the app company'. Also why is this an app and not a website, this would solve a big issue. Would work better to work with vets and charities to build a central database / hub they can all access. It also doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the efficacy of the product if they have a free and premium option. If the premium is worth pay for then the free option isn't good enough, and if it's not good enough it doesn't solve anything.

1. But they're primarily trying to deter theft. That would only work if people who wanted to buy a dog had the app, and probably they don't. 2. An app can't do that. If you want to GPS-track something, that thing has to have a GPS receiver installed on it, and communications equipment to report the position back to the system. The only way to do that is to mount a tracker on the dog's collar -- it can't be implanted in the dog because it's too big, it needs batteries that must be recharged every few days, and GPS receivers need line of sight to the satellites (which is why GPS doesn't work indoors unless you're close to a window). If your dog runs away, a GPS tracking collar can help to find it. If your dog is stolen, the first thing they'll do is remove the collar.

It's not the thief, and the only other person in the equation is the person the thief sells the dog to. If it's an amber alert system, how's that supposed to work? Somebody posts on the app that their black labrador has gone missing. What are other app users supposed to do? Confront everyone within ten miles who they see walking a black labrador and demand to take a photo of the dog's nose?

I would also say that noone would have any incentive to pay money to take pictures of their dogs ESPECIALLY if you've just told us that the main fingerprint of the dog is purely the snout. They need to do a tie up with vets practices or a pet food manufacturer, perhaps both. This is a brilliant idea but there's probably no money in it. Not all good ideas can be turned into a business.

It's a good idea. Implemented wrong. replacing the chip and charge the owners annually to have their dog on a mandatory database and use the app for vets, shelters, kennels, dog wardens ( who should do the equivalent of a roadside check where dog walkers usually go... legit dog owners would be happy to oblige ) Border control, police etc to id the dog. Not all missing dogs are stolen. A Stolen dog is going to be a problem if you cannot take it anywhere or go to a vet. I believe this way it could make money.

AirTags are not technically GPS devices.. it's a bluetooth device that has to be within range of an iPhone that support the airtag.... iPhones create a mesh network and reports the location when an AirTag is within range, reportedly between 10 to 30 metres.. it doesn't work if tag is not in range of a supported iPhone.
