Dragons🤬 you were frustrating in this. Sarah with her idealistic twaddle. There are children out there that will not eat something because it is a vegetable- no way, no how. In that instance the desperate parent couldn't care less whether the child recognises the dietary importance of the veggie as long as they somehow get it into their bodies.
@calsmyth44833 жыл бұрын
I'm fully open to the idea that I'm being "naive" etc, but I think that a large proportion of children who refuse to eat vegetables have been brought up to be that way. Ask people from older generations if they ate their vegetables as a child and you'll generally find that they weren't given an option not to! Anecdotally, the kids around me who were regularly allowed junk food etc. hated vegetables. Those of us who weren't allowed it very often, and were made to eat a variety (variety being a key word there - so many people who "hate vegetables" were just served some boiled mixed veg from the freezer), learnt to enjoy (or at least tolerate!) them. There's been a huge parenting shift in the last few decades away from a kind of strict "do as you're told" model towards a more open and relaxed "partnership" model. I personally think that's great, but this is one area where it often fails.

The dragons should have pulled their heads in this time round. In Australia these products are popular and as a vegan I buy them often, not to hide my vegetables but simply because they taste good. Peter was himself a silly sausage for being so pedantic.

Sarah doesn't like 'disguising' vegetables as something else? Does she realize pigs are also 'disguised' as sausages ?

I googled sausage and it comes up as “an item of food in the form of a cylindrical length”… she was literally pitching a vegetarian sausage, but apparently it’s existence should be illegal according to the dragons. There’s a huge market for vegetarian foods here in South Africa, and not once have I been so critical in thinking that something shouldn’t be called a sausage or a burger, or schnitzel, just because it’s not meat based.

Judgemental? Wtf, that's what they're there to do isn't it? Judge the validity of a business opportunity?
@kbchef92053 жыл бұрын
By the way Peter; A sausage does not have to have meat in it to be called a sausage.
@joemama1691 Жыл бұрын
The problem is that children will still not have vegetables on the plate so reenforcing it. You are the parent, cook the food they will eat it if hungry. Edit. Meat is actually really good for you, it’s the processed meat that’s full of chemicals that’s bad. Our brain evolved because of bone marrow.
@PotentiallyAndy3 жыл бұрын
I would have invested in her. These are a bit like the impossible whopper at burger king. It’s not vegetables or meat, but it is a burger… like a chicken burger or sausage pattie, it’s a different type of burger. I like sausage and would like the option of cooking and eating a different type of sausage.

If she left the meat-free pitch out of it, and just went with "a covert sausage for young kids who refuse to eat vegetables", and called it vausage, then i think she could have got at least one dragon. She deserved a deal.

9:00 What are you talking about, Peter? That's like saying an electric car isn't a car because cars should have a combustion engine. She's right, it's a veggie sausage.

The dragons didn't understand. She's not hiding veggies, she's just saying that sometimes a vegetarian may want miss a sausage. Simple. I think it's great and I want to try it even though I'm not a vegetarian. I hope she does well.

They pick apart the small aesthetics. Probably would have gone differentially if she served say 2 meatballs in a cupcake paper(anything), off a platter and offered with clear logo and description. She wasnt focused on what they took away from the presentation, but it's advice worth listening too. be confident of their vegetable worth and I would buy too

I thought the UK was more progressive on food, but these dragons make me think that's not the case. Shark Tank would have definitely been interested in these, if the taste was sound. Especially with the rise of the Beyond brand.

@sleepysmurf2 жыл бұрын
Disguising it is okay in my books, as someone who avoids vegetables and has eaten vegetables in things like those veggie fish cakes and fish fingers I'd say more should be pursued in this area but with less chunky vegetables, more blending. As they stated the texture, the feel. I would go more along the line of light fingered veggie alternatives that sneak into your meals for added nutrition like a bad health burglar as opposed to being incognito although she most definitely isn't hiding that they're vegetables, just showing that for alot of people they DO need to be disguised in some way or "masked" with another flavour. Love the idea Rachel

as somebody who works in pediatrics seeing pediatric obesity continue to rise, I agree with Nick. Vegetables can taste and often do taste great but unfortunately vegetables have become colloquially known as "gross" to kids. Like it's cartoonishly viewed as the thing that you just have to force yourself to swallow. That along with lies like you can't eat cheap and eat healthy have really been detrimental to trying to curb childhood obesity. A product that encourages hiding the vegetable is just furthering the cliched vegetables need to be hidden
@prillypop899 Жыл бұрын
Once again the dragons display their naivety in certain areas, SO many children will flat out refuse to eat something they don’t want, it’s not being ashamed of vegetables it’s helping lots of struggling and stressed parents to get vegetables into their kids.
