Hope all is well! I wanted to let you know I was at Cedar Point recently and me and a few coaster enthusiasts were at magnum and we started hearing new music in that area like themed music almost like frontier town. I also wanted to point out that many of the ride ops seemed to know what is happening. Idk it could just be something different but something seems up in that area!

I rode magnum on Thursday and they were doing trivia while there was a little delay. The ride op asked a question about the tallest ride in the park, and then said "there is currently not a roller coaster in the world over 500 feet, but I hear there is one in the works"

I think the dark gray will be the color of the supports. I've heard that some of Iron Dragon's supports have been painted that same color. I know a lot of people were upset when they were changed to bright yellow.

The keychain looks like the shape of the coaster from above (with the new colors) and a track that moves side to side from the station once riders are in the trains to do the back and forth of the spike and top hat without going through the station again.

The streamer wasn't able to make it out though and only the park guests with the best hearing that day know now. We haven't seen them leak anything yet, probably because they're GP

I haven't watched the full vid yet, but do know the current top hat is getting the new support color at least on the white ones and some of the track going into the brakes is getting the white and red stripes like the launch and ascent into the top hat. And yes, that is paint. Not primer.

As far as it being behind schedule... it could be that maybe this was originally supposed to be done this year, and was set back because of Covid maybe.

No, for intimin, that blue and orange track is for a big, fast ride that has the footers done already. There are not many sites it could go to, but I feel it may end up at Epic Universe or another ride at Six Flags Qiddiya. That track is massive and only those sites have projects that size and scope. It could land in Europe and I am missing some plots under construction, but you get the idea. I think GCI is a great builder for goodies but I think they will look at Outlaw Run and the RMC wooden coaster and want something with more punch that meets the other rides in the park. Cedar Fair parks don't have a lot of wooden coasters - the ones that do are awesome like Mystic Timbers by GCI and Ghostrunner that GCI has retracked for Knotts. GCI would have to do something better than Mystic Timbers at Kings Island at CP and that is one heck of a tall order. A wood ride would also be in the 2025-6 timeline also with the projects they ready are undertaking.

I think it's just going to be a repaint, new launch perhaps, extend top hats height by adding more footers, new trains, possible small airtime hill at the end, same theme since there keeping the finish lane and station. Personally, I think if this is true, they should advance it a little bit. But these parks have budgets; this isn't no limits. (tl;dr, e.g: new theme, new launch, keep same theme, make top hat taller) NO SPIKE reason: like I said" "this isn't no limits, these parks have budgets".

Brandon, what are your thoughts on why the original Top Thrill Dragster trains are on park property? You can view them while riding Blue Streak and driving by on Perimeter Road. A couple of friends who work at the park and have family members who work at the park told me they were shipped out somewhere in shipping containers and where gone for a few weeks and returned back to the park. Presumably to be refitted for the new LSM launch.

My guess is this is a more budget friendly redo. They wanted to keep as much as they could and only add new pieces on things they couldn't. I'd even say the old track for the brake run will be used and it's just getting the new updated brakes on it and the launch track will also be the same as it's just getting fitted for the updated launch fins . The only new pieces to this ride IMO will be the swing track, the spike, possibly the trains and a rerouted queue. Theme parks aren't spending a terrible amount of money on new rides so why spend a terrible amount when you don't have to on a refurbishment of a 20 year old ride when you're still gonna get people flooding in for an updated experience (same thing with Monte at Knotts)?

I fear you are going to be spot on. Cedar Point / Cedar Fair seems to be more focused on bringing their parks into the future by upgrading facilities, theming, etc. With this being an unplanned "addition" to the park (catalyzed by the launch incident), I'd say they're opting for a reliable and budget friendly iteration of the ride that puts CP back on the coaster capital map, but still allows for their other general park upgrade plans to resume mostly as intended, if not slightly delayed by a year or two. I'd say that a 500+ foot spike is a 50/50 chance. I don't see them coming for the height/speed record since Falcon's flight is estimated at 525 feet high and 155mph, and I doubt the new dragster can realistically get a train over 525 feet and keep the same 420 foot tall tophat let alone go 155. I'd also say that all main parts of the ride that needed to be removed have already been removed (footers, supports and track), which means it's unlikely for a bunny hill on either the launch or the break run since most of those footers remain aside from station area. Most likely record is gonna be tallest/fastest shuttle coaster with a 420ft tall top hat and a 500 foot tall spike with a ~470 foot tall drop - probably themed to a space dragster or something, nothing more nothing else. It'll be a blast and I'd bet CP upgrades the surrounding area a bit too.

The biggest thing is will the spike be 500+ feet? I think it will only cause they can market it as the tallest coaster and even after Falcons they can still market it as North Americas tallest coaster. Yep CF adds 1 new thrill coaster, a family coaster and family flats here and there and the rest of their additions are money grabs (new/updated restaurants primarily) and I think this will continue for the next few seasons to make back what they lost during the shut downs (I think SF is going to do the same)

If Cedar Fair wanted to tout records like *"fastest airtime hill"* or *"fastest double-up / double-down"* then they could add those moments to Dragster. But I think they're also concerned that changing Dragster too much, making it more novel, will add excessive guest demand to a ride that's always struggled with throughput. They also don't want the same problem as I-305, where the intense ejector airtime makes it unpopular with the GP. So I won't be surprised if changes are minimal, and there's barely any new track at all.

@@Ritocharles I'll be shocked if the spike is significantly higher than 200 feet. Even 150 feet is enough to do the job. Two forward launches and a backwards launch just aren't necessary with this much launch track. A backwards launch to 60 mph is enough to set up a forward launch to 120+ mph. A 500+ foot spike is insane hype, nothing more. No matter how tall or short the spike is, Dragster can still be marketed as the tallest and fastest shuttle coaster.

Have you ever considered that Zamperla is the distribution firm but the designers are former Intamin workers/subcontractors? Don't forget that B&M worked for Giovanola whom Intamin AG subcontracted, offering what were technically the earliest B&M designs. manufacturers morph into new companies all the time in this industry. As far as the people behind them Schwarzkopf basically became Gerstlauer. Arrow basically became the new S&S. CCI became GCI. Alan Schilke and Werner Stengel designed for more than one manufacturer over the years. Zamperla could easily be the company behind the project, but former employees and consultants Intamin worked with in the past are potentially the heart of the company now.

Top hat is literally where the train is moving the slowest… that steel is pretty much just as solid as the day it was installed. The fastest parts are at the bottoms where it’s launched and where it comes down.

I'm confused as to what's going on lol. I thought for sure they would replace the track on the top hat because of its age. Beings it doesn't appear to be the case, I would say Intamin is working on this project. I think they should keep the boat ride. Families seem to like it. Maybe retheme it a jungle cruise theme. Cedar Pount needs a modern wooden coaster. I'm hoping they put a GCI on some of that island. Maybe a new flats and retheme that area as well.

It's not for Hollywood Drift. There are 2 section of the track that have a "stopper" area hinting for a coaster with 2 spikes. Unless Hollywood Drift ends up being an Ultra Surf coaster (which it won't) then I think these track and supports are for the Ultra Surf.

Honestly can't see the entire island be connected to both Millennium Midway and Camp Snoopy. It doesn't do anything to improve guest flow around the park. The north side of the island could be used for a Camp Snoopy expansion, but the west side (former Shoot The Rapids) can be left vacant for a new coaster. Hopefully Snake River Expedition can continue operating if the plot is tweaked to rely more on animatronics than actors.

I'm sticking with the spike. It's a solid way to address not using a hydraulic launch and the footer seems pretty conclusive. Something I'd love to see (though I doubt it will happen) is a kink at the top of the spike like you see on Aquaman Power Wave at SFOT. Imagine that up at the top of the spike after the train starts to fall back it is on a slight incline and then hits a sharp kink in the track before going full vertical. You'd get launched out of your seat right before a gigantic drop and be out of your seat for several seconds. That would be so cool. But again, I doubt they'll do it.

There is, in fact, another element with the same footer pattern...... the triangle with the three pads and the second rectangle in front with two pads. This is the element I believe is going here. If it is indeed a spike, I will be VERY disappointed. Spikes are already done to death and adding height does nothing for them.

Get rid of Corkscrew , iron dragon , mineride , the two remaining water rides in the back of the park and forbidden frontier and you have a whole lotta land mass to work with . CP badly needs a couple dark rides and a couple more flat rides . They also need a concert seating venue . The stage on the midway by iron dragon while cool is in a horrible spot . traffic gets congested because of the lack of room . They should have kept the old night time laser light show . What does this have to do with dragster and your predictions ? absolutely nothing except Dragster is 420 feet high and so am i right now . Getting rid of three coasters may sound taboo but they are old and mediocre at best . Tony Clark said a few years back they had something in store that would out do Steel Vengeance . Your gonna need some land for that statement and there it is .

Just clarifying the credits on the Escape Designs work for this project, Casper actually did not have a roll in the specific footage depicted above, though he did help with setting up the trains for the previous orange and blue track / supports concept, as well as helped with some custom block scripting. Escape Designs exclusively did all the work in this project (theming, trackwork, design, engineering, video capturing, video edits). @@DustinTheNow This is so not true, The trains and LSM were already there. you maybe only needed to move the 4th train to lower position. The same is for the Working transfer. I maked the Transfer working and I came with the Idea for Code his train kit. You wanted to use the JBS Train kit. So dont say I wasn't involved in this version at all. that is simply a lie!

@@Casper.CoasterCreator it’s not a lie! I completely redid the trains within no limits as well as the brakes because the new setup changed quite a bit and I was receiving several errors. You don’t know my process for this project (red and grey) as you weren’t part of it. I wish you were but due to the time difference and my schedule only allowing for late night work, I just had to get it done. We can go back and forth. Just know I really appreciate your work. You do a great job in the cinematics and the orange and blue coaster came out great because of your help. And you should be happy because escape designs provided you with trackwork and great theming for one of your most viewed videos.

We don't know they aren't building new track..I've said all along intiman is the only company involved,Zamperla hasnt built anything close to the scal of TTD.Since they built it they have the original dimensions and welding jigs so they could be building all new track as we speak so this winter they remove the old and bolt up the new.BTW the 2 tophat idea was ludicrous. No room..The coolest part nobody is talking about is how the new dragster and iron dragon will work together
