Back in the early 70's, we had a NHRA AA/FF long nose Vega. We sold that car to Jim Liberman in 1974. That car is now at Don Garlits drag racing museum in Ocala FL. When we owned it, it had an Ed Pink Chrysler hemi engine.

I remember sitting in the tower with Ken Pacham watching Jim when I was about 5 or 6 years old. (1971-72) This was an awesome tribute. You guys are doing a fantastic job and I salute you! - Len Parkin

Yep....I spent a week riding shotgun in Brutus's race car hauler to match races in Puyallup, WA and Woodburn, OR with Jim driving and Bobbie in the middle. Bobbie was very sweet and very cute......and Jim, was....well Jim. 😊

Those of us that lived thru those times treasure the memories. There were hundreds of funny car racers back then, all with their own unique cars… Awesome names, great paint and cars that actually looked like the street cars they emulated. You used to be able to go to a Divisional points race and see the local teams in TF, FC and Pro Stock competing for Division Championships. Now, because of the NHRA’s stupidity, they’re lucky if they can even get a full field of cars in most professional classes. And watching those rolling sponsors billboards, no matter how fast and quick they are, has destroyed the interest of the fans… Anyone seen all the empty seats in the stands? Not to mention the legendary racing facilities recently closed for good. Best thing I’ve seen in Fuel Racing these days is the Funny Car Chaos group. It’s been 50 years since anyone has seen 60+ floppers on any track at the same time. Again, like the old days..unique cars, paint and names, hardly a rolling billboard on track. Some of these racers even bringing back replicas of legendary cars to the track that haven’t been seen in 30, 40, even 50 years. Watching Showmen, like Jungle Jim was what brought the fans to the track. Racetracks across the country used to book in 4 car, 6 car shows on any given weekend or sometimes Wednesday night shows. Let’s face it, there is nothing like watching fire in the pipes at night, the smell of nitromethane in the air and long smoky side by side burnouts on the track by your favorite drivers. “And the Crowd goes Wild!” Time to get off my soapbox, thanks for reading thru this. Support the Funny Car Chaos shows and maybe we can see a resurgence in returning Funny Car Racing to it’s former glory and letting fans that never experienced those days get that chance. Peace Out 👍🏻🍻😎
